yep, there's a small hole near number plate that you need to insert a tool into. I got an old screwdriver @4mm thick and @8" long, I then bent the end inch over 90deg.
You can then hook this into the hole and the screwdriver handle should give you sufficient grip to pull the grill off. it takes a serious pull to do so, but just go for it.

Either that or take out the wheel arch liner, it's your choice but if your car has as much mud on it as mine, my idea is the cleanest. Finding or making a tool takes longer than changing the bulbs.
Easy way to do this is, remove two screws from inner wheel arch liner, fold liner inward and you'll see fog light housing, just change from there. 10 minute job, simples. :thumbsup:

I have a tool in the boot of my car that came with it, circle with a little hook on it? That's what I used to pull the front grill out, then two screws and you're sorted!
I looked and i have the tool in boot too, the bent screwdiver worked though.

I have decided I'm not pulling the front grills off I am just going in through the wheel arch ... I will post some photos once it's done to show how I did it.

I got a set from t8ups and I have fitted them now ... very easy to fit through the wheel arch and they are white with a hint of blue. I have before and after photo's I will put them as soon as I can.

So I have replaced the Std Audi Bulbs with a set from t8ups and this is what they look like :-

They do look much better and this has put my OCD to bed as every time I walk up to the car in the car park and those yellow lights came on it just drove me mad !!!!
These bulbs are direct replacement ones and are just plug and play. ( These are not LED Bulbs )

No errors at all and its just 3 screws out of the wheel arch liner and your in ....

I was a bit worried as half the metal base popped off the holder, I pushed it back in and still worked thankfully.
Took me about 30 minutes too.
You can't really see it but my xenon headlights have a tint of blue not seen in the picture, and t8ups fog lights are whiter than this picture.

The fog light bulbs are yellow for a reason, white light reflects off fog but yellow penetrates it, your rendering your fog lights useless by changing the bulbs to white.

The schedules to the regs give any specifications that are required for both obligatory lamps and for "recognised" optional lamps such as front fog lights in terms of things like number, positioning and colour.* For front fogs (schedule 6) the colour is specified as being white or yellow:*
That's as maybe, just saying white light is hopeless in fog, it just reflects straight back at you, changing the bulbs to give a bright white light means you might as well not have em fitted at all, cos when you need em they'll be as much use as a chocolate tea pot. More of a hinderance than a help.

I have had white bulbs in an A4 for almost ten years and they have worked just fine ... these are not the crazzy 100 watt ones they are almost the same brightness as the ones I removed so work just fine ... I have used them in fog a few times since fitting and they were just fine ....
Have to admit that I've never noticed a difference when I put on the fog lights to be honest and that's with the standard units... Maybe just me!

Don't pull the front cover off .... just take the three screws out of the wheel arch cover it's really easy to do.

covers come of easy with the right tool. VW's have a tool that pulls off wheel bolt caps, they have a hole on the middle of them.. The same tool is also used to pull off the fog surrounds. Its a essentally a thick wire letter "P" with a hook on the end, loads on fleabay
