2013 Audi S3

I've got a golf mk5 gti.

I've ordered an S3 SB

Can't get away with the mk7 body styling. The R looks like a normal model where as the mk6 looked much more sporty.

Love the mk7 interior but am diss appointed with the exterior. And I hate the red stripe through the headlights on the gti!!

Plus the Mk7 R is more expensive. Not spending close to £40 for a golf!

Interesting... I'm also coming from a MK5 GTI and one of the main reasons I don't want the MK7 R (it will be about 5-10k AUD cheaper than the S3 down under) is the interior. It looks so similar to my car even though it is ~8 years newer!

The S3 looks beautiful inside by comparison!

Yes sort of me as well. MkV GTI, MkVI R, and now S3 SB on order. I really like the way VAG do things, but was just after a bit more refinement in my old age. Didn't want an S5 as they just look too big and it's only me in there. Thought about a Sirroco R but the inside was identical to the R. It is clear that it is all from the same parts bins when you look at the switch gear, steering wheel etc, but somehow the Audi just feels a bit more grown up.

We also have a Mk5 GTI and I really fancied a new Golf GTI PP. Went and had a test drive and liked how it drove but absolutely hated the interior. Lots of shiny fake plastic carbon etc is just awful, what is the matter with them at VW. The centre console where there is a huge panel which runs down from the massive nav screen into the climate etc then all the way down just looks terrible in my view.

It did feel like it had more poke than our Mk5 GTI but then my wife suggested that we looked at the S3 as "she'd always liked them".

Drove one, loved it in every aspect. Ordered, collect on 1st March.

Are you sure you want to change from Estoril trs888??

Superb pictures.

Love how the sun totally transforms the estoril into an electric eye popping blue.

its an amazing colour from that perspective, never had a car that can have 2 looks like this.

On a dull day, its a very dark blue so looks very classy and aggressive.
On a sunny day, the blue lightens massively and creates a stunning looking shade of blue.

A truly stunning colour from Audi.

You're just biased :moa:

It is a great colour. Seen it on S5, S3 and looks very smart on both. Only Sepang or Mica Blue would top it for me (neither of which are quite as classy)

Ha ha ... well maybe just a tad biased, but for good reason :)

Sepang for me is just the best blue ever !

Phantom Black aint bad either I suppose

Very very nice Louay ... Add mica to list if great Audi blues too :)

Indeed Louay that is a great colour; spot on

Was nice....attracted some unwanted attention though usually from little boys in saxo vtr's so this time I chose classier estoril for when there's no sun and I'm feeling mature and for come get me when it's sunny and I've not got the family in the car with me! Win win!

yes, those are nice shots.

I've been thinking about it over the last few weeks. I've had 2 blue cars in a row now, and i wanted a lighter colour like Ibis white for my next car but seeing as i can't get that then i was looking at the Monsoon Grey as i was looking for a golf GTI in that colour first before settling on laser blue. i don't like that at night the estoril would look really dark.

so in short - no Ibis white = Monsoon Grey lol

plus this photo helped me make up my mind.

I don't know how to link on Flickr. Doesn't seem very user friendly to me.

Try this link

Have a look in sets for different colours.

Only have a estoril and monsoon tho.

That's my photo stream. I collected pics from Flickr and put them on mine so I could get a screensaver going but the photos aren't mine. Can't get a link to the original pics.

Guess what was fresh off the back of the transporter last night when I went in to sign the finance paperwork.S3

Friday is gonna be fun...

agreed flickr is badly designed and seems to be designed by a techie. I found photobucket much more user friendly.

I just notice less people choose Misano red... Isn't a bad color, is it?!

The second pic of the monsoon grey with the grey background. Dont think I have seen a picture that bad of that colour. The first pic is nice, but a grey car with a grey sky really looks pretty dull.

But thats the problem with photos and different light types. Th first pic does make the monsoon look good, second pic Im not so keen on. And its even the same reg plate, but looks like the first pic has darker windows.

I was looking at loads of pics. Got a mk5 golf in laser blue, had a crystal blue audi a4 previously, so had blue cars since 2008. Fancy a change. Also estoril is quite Dark in a lot of lights that I've seen it in. Really nice colour but in my view only really pops in the bright day time or sunny day.
Saw pics In Australia and looks really good however I'm afraid we just dont have that much sun. Also I wanted a grey mk5 golf. So feel like I should get a grey s3.

Long-winded answer but you asked lol

It wasn't a quick decision. It's taken a month of pondering!!!

Only used flickr as Apple TV doesn't use photobucket.

lol at apple - that's why I got rid of my apple devices after the iphone 3g - apple and their dark ages closed door/drm mentality - I still hate apple after the drm fiasco as they kindly decided that they would remove the drm no one wanted from music and charge a bargain 29p per song - I had 1000s of songs and apple can get stuffed

I like the Misano and was close to ordering but I was pursuaded at that time to get estoril. Which I've just changed to monsoon lol

Just been told mines built and at the docks awaiting shipping

Will be coming into sheerness -
Anyone know the name of the boats that they use for sheerness - Grimsby certainly seems to have more coming in as well

Only takes 24 hours so unless stays at port for ages should be ok for 1st March

What was your build week?

What was your build week?

Build week 5 which was last week

dealer going to update me Thursday - just said it's been released for shipping which means it's at the port apparently

no idea of what boat but she did confirm sheerness would be the port

That's really good, stories like this make me feel like I'll get mine quicker than the dealers estimated 4-6 weeks after build. Mine will go Grimsby too, which could help from what I'm reading.

4-6 weeks! Your cars are barely travelling. What takes so long?

there's an 8-10 week turnaround for cars shipping to Australia.

Question for s3 folks, when you pop your bonnet open and run your engine at idle do you notice slight engine vibration? I mean to me it vibrates quite a bit for a petrol engine? Normal?

hope so. maybe they've speed the orders up for uk to get as many as possible ready for 1st march

Ive just got back from Oz. Saw an S3 in Sydney in Panther black, looked stunning, nearly changed my order when I got home!!!
That sunshine makes the paint look amazing.

I don't think it's too far off what we get to be honest. Ours is really at the 10 week mark turnaround time, at least on the east coast. Perhaps close to 8 weeks for Perth.

Mine left Germany on 21/12 and is scheduled to land Port Kembla on 8/2. So that's about 6 weeks for transport. Take that off the 10 weeks end to end, and it leaves 4, which is what he was quoting. A week for build, week for inspection, time for transport, compliance, dealer prep. Four weeks sounds about right.

Been told today that my build week is 21. My dealer then predicted my car should arrive June. That will be a 6 month wait then from ordering. Pretty slow that, I'm somewhat disappointed as I was hoping for April/may. It's almost going to be time for new plates and I'm a little bothered about the knock on effect to re sale value
