toying with the idea of getting a revo map, 2.0TFSI quattro 8p, thoughts/opinions?

I got stage 1 on my 1.8tfsi and it's a nice improvement holding higher rev ranges and acceleration. 2.0tfsi would be a pleasure to drive with a stage 1 ecu tune only I could imagine :)

Going for stage 2 by end of feb.

Check the revo website for stats table.

how did u find ur fuel econ? mine only does 21.3mpg on standard bhp :/

I've had mine running for a year now. No dramas. I'm from Australia and I usually get about 550-600kms on a full tank mainly suburban traffic. I drive stronic a lot of the times so don't use 7th gear often.

I'm taking her in for a service this Thursday also wear I got my revo tune done, so will find out if any issues but hopefully all gucci.

Mate runs stage 2 revo on his S3 and it's been good to him for about 2yrs and current.

You thinking stage 1 or 2 with hardware upgrades?

Seems a bit low...get that split pipe sorted and have a think after that...will transform your car

cheers, yeah got told it was DV so got it replaced and still have the tshhh noise gonna book it into a audi specialist to look over it not going back to my local audi, theyre rip off merchants to say the least!

Running stage 1 currently on my s3 and can only say good things about it. No issues of any descriptions.

brilliant :) did you have to upgrade brakes? (don't know if I may have to as mines one down from urs?) fuel econs always been rubbish to say the least, what happened with urs after map?

+1; get the linear map if there is an option.

cheers literally found out i can get them near trade price not actually looked at anything else, whats the diff?

I find the linear map to have a slightly more 'OEM' feel to it in terms of the fact it's less boosty.

Both do largely the same job performance wise, it's the execution of how it delivers the boost (from what I'm led to believe) that delivers a slightly different experience on the road. In the height of summer when ambient temperatures increased I found the linear map to deliver more consistent results in a range of driving conditions. I appreciate when some pay for a remap they want a damn good push into their seat, I prefer a more normally aspirated feel to the map with consistent power right across the power band rather than it being front loaded.

It's worth checking if they still do both maps, I know they've been updating the product recently so may have chosen to consolidate to one map.

thanks very much thats really handy to know :) need to investigate it and see if its worth it, as dont know if id need to uprate the brakes and if it is a split pipe it may change the way it drives, what happened with ur mpg once mapped on linear?

Went up somewhere between 1-2mpg on average (caveat: once I'd got over the novelty of gunning it everywhere!).

I'm running stage 2 without brake upgrade other than front pads. I just changed to different pads as I wanted less dust really. I find on road use OEM just about gets you by unless you have particularly slow reactions.

On road: at stage 2 or above you really need to be thinking about a disc / pad upgrade combo, above stage 2+/3/4 full brake system upgrade (front & rear).

Track driving: If you do any track time above stg1 I'd do full brake upgrade and braided hoses.

nice, mine wont go anywhere near a track, ive got the 2.0 TFSI so reckon u have better brakes having the S3 anyway, haha yeah my mate has a GTI so pretty much same engine literally red lines it everywhere n still gets like 35 to the gallon :( *Cries*

Hey nope running standard brakes and no intention of changing them. Have a mate running 370 bhp on his s3 and his standard brakes are fine. It didnt really change to be honest fuel wise, but I do find myself using the extra power a lot more so it has probably got worse, although ive never actually worked it out. I get about 330 miles to a tank..

I was actually advised against this. Apparantly it makes the car feel "dead" after being used with the standard power delivery. Do you like it yeah?

As I have SPS I can tune the car the way I want it, but for me it made sense on two reasons:

1: sustainability of performance
2: smooth linear acceleration

I've had boosty cars over the years and I found that most of the available grunt was in the first 1/3 - 1/2 of the accelerator pedal, to me the remaining pedal didn't feel like it offered much. When I heard about the linear map I had it changed specifically; I do run quite aggressive settings (B8/T5/F6), but to be honest I'd never say it felt anything close to standard. I'm now running with full TBE and that makes an enormous difference, probably the biggest after the map. The DP and cats on the S3 are more restrictive than I gave credit for.

Ok thats really interesting. I actually bought the SPS last month. That was mostly so I could reupload the timings etc if I had to take my battery off. Can you add the linear throttle map using the SPS?? Just looking through my A, B and C settings here and yours is def' agressive as you say. All my fuel settings are for 9 also and I see yours are at 6.

nice ive only got a 2.0 TFSI and i get 320 to a tank :( dammit, fancy giving me ur motor ;) haha

No you can't, would have to go back to Revo / your dealer

I changed mine to 6 after CAI / exhaust system went on. Not sure how much difference it's made, but I ran it at 9 w/o TBE (Think I was running B7/T6/F9 pre-exhaust).

I changed to more aggressive settings as the car can handle them in the lower ambient air temps we're having at the moment (when it stops ****** raining). I'd dial Boost back to 6 or 7 when it warms up, and may advance tiing a notch.

only thing is resale quite afew people want standard cars

Ah ok cool cool. Its good to talk to someone who also has an SPS.

Well ud be suprised. Some people like it already modified. Personally id rather buy a modified car which has been well looked after / serviced as a standard one without any service history.

That said its not too big of an issue to return the car to standard if needs be.

You can set the car to standard 'OEM' spec (albeit Revo map) with the SPS if the next owner decides they only want 261PS (Performance mode off)

Hi guys sorry for resurrecting an old thread but just wanted to ask about the sps and linear throttle set up. I have just had a stage 2 revo map put on with linear throttle and an sps coming in the morning. I find the map good but want a little more shove. I dont want a really boosty feel just abit more umph. My question is can I use the sps to overcome the linear throttle response slightly or is that not possible?

Thanks

Pretty sure you can't change the throttle curve using SPS just Boost, Fuel and timing.

It sounds like you should not have went for the linear throttle map. It does make the car feel a bit unresponsive if you are not used to it. You could try putting the boost up a couple of numbers or even up to 9, but you should technically be logging the car when pushing these numbers.

sorry for the late response, thanks for the replies!
Yeah I thought it would be a good idea to go for the linear map and I wasn't happy with getting 100% throttle at 50% pedal travel but clearly I like it more than the linear map. I have turned the boost up to 8 as it was on 7 but from what I saw from data logging at 7 there seemed not much point.
I have rebooked in to have the standard throttle map put on instead as the car is driven on the road only for the time being so means I will be able to make more use of the boost.

thanks guys

Let me no the differences you find with standard please Cam.... I hard ever put my foot 'right' to the floor so maybe its best i go for standard to in all fairness to get that 'fun' factor!

No problem at all its booked in for tomorrow for a dyno too so will let you know :)

Right I have not long come back from having the standard map put back on and the non linear map removed, this is what I found -

  1. The difference is easily noticeable between the two.
  2. The cars feels more alert now where as before it was like it had just got out of bed.
  3. I also found that the linear map held the car back for a split second a few times above 4000rpm in order to keep it linear, like a fuel cut for example. This does not exist on the standard one.
I can totally understand people having the linear map for track use etc but think for most people who use the car on the roads the standard one is perfect.

The settings I am running are B7 T5 F9 which seems to be my cars limit on stage 2 using VCDS logs

Ah ok, thats interesting Cam as your the only one i know that prefers the standard map! Maybe most people are sheep and think that a specific map is better than the other because someone sais how good it is etc...
I think that your right though and my way of thinking is that having the car remapped to stage 2+, i want a noticeable difference and to have some fun it :) Linear i think will be to progressive for me as i hardly ever put my foot all the way to the floor anyway!
Interesting that your only on Boost 7 tho? I take it Boost 9 would be a lot more noticeable on pick up?

Yeah that my way of thinking too. I think stage 1 from bluefin was not very good but I told them and they sent me another which was but still not a massive difference in my opinion. I believe this was due to a higher bhp from the factory. Stage 2 bluefin was good straight away and if I went from standard to stage 2 the difference actually would have been night and day. I still have the standard clutch and think I might be just pushing it. When I can do the clutch I will go stage 2+ but I reckon that will be next year as all my mods were brand new and bought within 2 months:(

Sorry forgot the boost question. Yeah I can only go up to boost 7 as at 8 the timing on cylinder 4 is at 4-5.5 degrees. Yeah boost 9 is noticeable but that doesn't mean more power necessarily
