I thought I would post about my fitting of my new exhaust system after reading a similar thread a few weeks ago where a member had a BCS power valve system fitted.

I was interested as their systems are made entirely from stainless steel, and if you wanted it, you can have the power valve model fitted which reduces any "boom" noise when not on the boost.

So after searching the forum one day, I saw another member was selling his system (non power valve), and it was only 3 weeks old!

My main concern was that the member had a 3 door S3, and mine is the sportback, and I didn't want to have any fitting issues.

So after a call to Dave @ BCS, he said that the only difference was the positioning of the tips in relation to the bodywork - and that the 3 door would have been positioned further under by about 80mm.

But get this! Dave offered to cut the tips of my exhaust, and re-weld them on his Sportback Jig, if I could get the back box to him!

What great service!

This sealed the deal, and I arranged the buy of the exhaust.

That was yesterday, and I have now had the exhaust fitted by BCS themselves, and I cannot say how great their customer service is.

They don't normally work Saturdays, but offered to accommodate me - even though they had another full system install on a Golf GTi, to do.

After talking with both Nigel and Dave, you can really tell these guys love their work - AND their customers - something that I think is important when you consider buying a system away from the usual named exhaust suspects like Miltek.

I had a decent chat with Nigel, who went on to tell me that he has designed exhausts for years for some of the big named car companies like Bentley and TVR, and how they used to require a signature sound for their systems and how they were achieved.

Suffice to say he knows his stuff.

Anyway, here are a couple of shots of the exhaust system fitted - but remember - this is a second hand system that has been used.

It has a 200 cell sports CAT.

It sounds awesome, pulls much quicker and has really sharpened the response up on a Stage 1 Shark, with MTC intake (ITG).

The sound is incredible on this thing when you floor it - it moves from a deep burble to an almost Rally Car like Spit!!

There is no "boom" on this exhaust system, and when cruising with minimal boost and power it sounds very OEM.

When in higher gears and in very low revs, it can growl a bit, but this quickly moves into a more savage sound as you increase boost and revs.

BCS do sound like a brilliant company and the system looks very nice, I'm currently in two minds as I love the look of Miltek special style tips!

That exhaust looks amazing. Love it :)
So does the underneath of ur car also ;)
Do they do tdi's or just 2.0t petrols that it has on the site?

It's a lovely exhaust, but if you ask me - the tips on the BCS exhaust look pretty special too - and the entire exhaust is stainless steel - so no broken down pipe worries!

From speaking with them, they say they can pretty much make anything fit anything - so it is worth a phone call if you like the system buddy.

Bcs are a great small family run company. If anyone is contemplating one of their exhausts look me up as I am adealer for them and alot of S3 owners are now converting to them above other top exhaust makers due to the customer support and quality of their products. 2nd to none.

Sounds awesome. How much is a system like that though?

Cheaper than a milltek i believe.. 1100 fitted roughly.

The bcs systems seem to be made better IMO if you look at them side to side

Spoke to my dad about the welds and he thinks milltek does them better and he's a professional welder so he knows his stuff. However materials are another story and BCS seems to use better quality stainless steel.

The last millteck I had was **** welds they are mig welded together and that's not a problem but they had no root in the butts so it's a **** weld imo I am a coded welder myself

Bit disappointed by that
I've been welding for 30 years - 16 specifically in stainless steel and it's something that I thought any one would ever be able to find fault with...

We only use 304 grade stainless steel including our flanges and lambda boss's which I think you will find are mild steel on other brand product flanges...

Cheers

Nige If you dont mind me asking just to clear up the original thread revival whats the approximate going rate for S3 non sportback exhausts. Supply only and supply + fit.

Totally shocked at that comment Nige
As you know I've tried 2 Milltek systems both were replaced under warranty and looked like they'd done a million miles within months.
You and Dave sorted the BCS on my yellow cupra R and I ran it for over a year and took it off when changing my car and sold it on and it was as new!
That good I came to you for the exhaust on my golf gtd and yes I've changed cars again!!
So when the time comes I'll be calling you for the exhaust on my S3
Great quality systems with welds to match and no warranty issues.
That speaks for itself, keep up the good work.

Hi Mat
Can't reply directly regarding any commercal aspect of the product as it's a public forum - can only answer questions of a technical and informative nature.
Happy to reply by pm though...

If I went with the decat version, is it any cheaper?
What's the chances of getting pulled over?
And does it have the better performance?

The chances of you getting pulled over is the same probability as with any other aftermarket exhaust fitted....Milltek, Cobra etc etc. The BCS will also give roughly the same performance gains as all others.
Price wise it all depends on what system you were going with as the de-cat is just a replacement pipe so not that expensive compared to sports cats.

Just wondering if I went decat and back box how much that would be then

Ho Nige please could yoy reply to my message I've sent few days ago, thx!

Sounds great mate, nice write up.

Do these guys have a website? i'm looking to upgrade.

Thanks, just spoke to Nige on blower.

Must say, he was very helpful and certainly made it clear that he had a lot of time for my request. As somebody who isn't fully clued up on this kind of thing, he's made it clear as to the differences between the systems and how they get their unique sound etc, without frazzling my brain with too much jargon!

Needless to say, I've booked in for an initial vehicle assessment on the 1st of August, can't wait! Glad I found these guys before lumping money on a milltek system like so many have done.
