Well, as some of you will know i was developing a kit to fit 300mm S4 discs to my 2001 S3,
On friday afternoon i decided to trial fit the kit on my car...
All has gone well. There was, one thing i had almost forgotten was the hand brake cable needing "tweeking " but the ECS kit covers the same "tweek"
The kit i made ...

This shows the Re PCD'd discs, The brackets and the Spigot rings needed,

This was my old 256 mm set up before i removed it, ( with Porsche PDC adaptors fitted )

Ive covered about 50 miles since fitting the kit and ive had it checked over by a good mechanic i use, He was more than happy , So im happy, The car feels slightly better balanced not but the pads are nowhere near bedded in yet, Everything works well, I will post pictures of the car with the wheels on once ive washed it in the morning.
They fill the wheels much better ,
Im a very happy camper.

Very good mate, is this something you are gonna make and sell to members? what sort of figure would the kits be?

Looks very nice pal. So how much for the kit and when can i come see it :)?

When you have given it a proper test and a spirited drive would be interesting to see your feedback, looks good though mate.

Thanks for the replys people
Today i decided to push the car a little more as all felt well.
The results are... All is well, car does feel like it can shed speed much faster, There doesnt feel to be a massive change in brake balance ( a good thing) i even tried slamming on mid corner when i found a wide open quiet corner... Nothing scary happened. So im happy, Here are a few pictures of the car with the kit fitted...

Im happy with the look,
But im just as happy with the more balanced feel to the car.
I would probably have liked to have had the discs grooved to match the fronts. But for now im happy.
There was 2 realy slight issues in the fitting of this kit but both were easily overcome in about 20 mins,
firstly i hadnt realised the carrier bolts had a captive washer built onto them so my counter bore for the bolt wasnt big enough diameter , luckily for me there is an old guy a few unit down who had a lathe, i turned the washer down so all was good. In future im looking to increase the counterbore size so all is good, the second issue was the hand brake cable. A quick call to a lad who had fitted a couple of ECS kits told me all i needed to know ( this info was also in the last thread regarding this set up ) a quick trim of the over sheath before the rear arm and all was good.
happy days !

Pauls bad for not checking his phone mate haha, old age and all that, you should know what that feels like mate :) haha.

hey guys i have a rear bbk kit from dave brown for sale poweder coated blue if anyone is interested same as this kit
not trying to thread hijack just putting it out there if anyone interested as it just sat in garage

Nice kit. What front brake set up do you have, also would this fit an LCR?

My car has LCR spec Brembo's on the front,
Would they fit an LCR? well if the rear discs and calipers are same as what we run on the S3 i would think so, But would like to see one to check first idealy,
Dan... i text ya back you big girl...

Thanks Bill
I would love to at a later date be able to find a 2 piece rear disc set up, ( probably more your area than mine ) to compliment the kit.
Ive been in talks with admin. regarding offering a group buy to members on here,
A couple of point mentioned i may not have been clear on. The brackets are STEEL i coated them with "cool Galv" to rust proof them so i could fit them for testing on my own car,
The plan ( i can not guarantee to be as cheap as i hope ) to be able to offer the kit with Zinc plated brackets.
Regarding replacement parts ( discs and spigot rings ) i am happy to suply these as long as people need them , I plan to offer a new pair of spigots with any discs i suply these would probably not be needed but there if the customer feels they are, This would be at a price agree'd that covers my costs ,
The kit im thinking as a ball park figure will cost including discs £160
The kit will include
A pair of caliper brackets
Bolts to mount the brackets to the hub
A pair of spigot rings to mount the S4 discs to the S3 hubs
S4 300 mm discs Re PCD'd to 5x100
I will be offering the Zinc plating at an extra £15 for the brackets and possible Stainless Steel Spigot rings but im unsure of the cost yet for material.

If anybody is intrested please let me know,
Either in this thread or via PM
I would ask for a deposit of £65 for the outlay of the discs as the material i can pay on account , With the balance ( and postage costs ) paid before dispatch,

Sounds good mate, you have my vote :) can you pm me your payment info please as I would like a set, zink covered with stainless rings when possable, thanks.

Thanks S3Zek
I will PM you when i get home later,

I recently got a set of brakets back from our platers
Here is a picture to compair the finish to standard "cool Galv."

Hello all.
I've been far too preoccupied with houses and family stuff.
I told people in good faith I would make a couple of these kits up.
I'm sorry I haven't been in touch,
If anybody still wants one please let me know,
Very sorry again,

Top of the thread, click the "Thread Tools" link and then click on "Subscribe to thread"... you will be taken to another page where you will get to choose the notification type... choose which suits you... (I normally go for instant email)
