I thought i would start my build thread, its no BT thread(yet lol) but it invloves modding something I have done with most of my cars
prev had modified MKIV 180 GTI, Seat Leon FR, MKV GTI Ed30, VW Caddy MKII. I currently have co audi and the wife was getting shot of the mini and i wanted to get another 2.0 TFSI car but she wanted five doors and 4wd capacity so a sportback quattro fitted the bill, I didn't want to stretch to an S3 as its a second car and runabout to her work but by the time I am finished i would be cheaper with the S3 but where's the fun in that eh?
So I bought this 2006 2.0TFSI Quattro Sportback and if i am honest i would have kept searching as i wanted some extras but for some reason folks dont spec audi's all examples for instance didn't have mfsw, not sure if this was later thing but couldn't get one.
and as it turns out it has a pet hate of mine. people who mod a car then don't look after it WTF! engine covers broke, pedals have been out for a chrome set probably and broke when changing them. and the chrome peeled of the grill to make it look optic:think:
the aim of this build is sleeper style as I like the plain old A3 look as its de badged apart from Sline on the sides and grill so once finished if it ever does become finished it will look like any other a3 on the road bar some subtle additions.
So as soon as it was home I set to work picture of the old grill with my new test mod tabby cat(adds 10bhp alledgedly)

daylight affected play and couldn't get the bumper on

then after a small detail i got the black optics grill fitted

after the optics grill was fitted it went for a service as i dont trust garages who say they service before selling it quite clearly doesn't happen as when my mechanic checked the haldex it was like syrup and needed flushed twice to be able to get it clean, see what i mean mod it and leave it to get to F! so winter set in and storing bits and peices started and in storage i have
S3 intercooler(alloy end tank version)
18" Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 Silver
CTS Air Intake
Silverline WALK kit
Eibach pro springs
MFSW
so today an itch needed scratched as i couldn't wait any longer and instructed TPS to get me the ambient interior lights, now for those thinking of buying new on ebay the price range from £116 to £127 and TPS wanted £85 and theres loads of people on here who are searching for used ones so I thought what the heck. so here's a wee before and after

and after fitting, please note theres also two screws holding the unit in so be carefull when removing.

a pm to mr tu8ps is need as well now for some led's.
Next week I hope to get the S3 I/C fitted a few may say whats the point in fitting this if not going stage 2 and beyond but on my
Edition30 it had better temps on 1/4 mile days with it fitted, granted as well this is only a ko3 turbo but never say never on a ko4 conversion:eyebrows: then once the better weather allows alloys and suspension work. swithering on the RNS conversion but time will tell.
on the shopping list currently saving for RS3 brake conversion as the MKV R32 brakes way a ton. a GFB DV+ kit as well. TTRS engine cover for when the CAi's fitted. Also wouldn't mind a BCS exhaust lol

Nice car you got there mate. Just wondering if the whole bumper needs to be taken off to change the grill or can it just be loosened from the top?

bumper off I am afraid as there's screws inside that hold the center of the grill to come as well.

fitted the old fav S3/ED30 pedals as well bought from the polish guy on ebay way cheaper than TPS how that works i dont know lol.
looking at porsche brakes tonight just need a few more pennies in the PP account

Would you not just be aswell fitting S3 brakes? Would porsche 1's not be a bit OTT?

your right, the conundrum was RS3 just callipers £300 have to buy new pads and discs as recall ones are squeeky, Porsche £400 for a used kit R32 £350 for calllipers
the rs3 ones would be dear for discs pads and lines, porsche work with oem 312mm discs so just pads and lines and r32 flipping heavy but cheap pads and discs. S3 Callipers not many doing the rounds which is odd given the BBK conversions going on. probably end up with R32 ones lol.

Mini mod tonight, found this lurking in another build thread, cheapish but could be cheaper just doing the bulbs but had a bad experience with led bulbs and the missus doesn't react good when things go wrong. cost £28 from TPS
part no's 4H0 943 021 and 4H0 943 022 led plate lights
Items - LH side is the new LED light and right old bulb version plug and play nothing else req.

how they look sorry for the pic but dont want my plate on show:icon_thumright: Top is the old buld version below is the LED nice crisp

saturday fitting Eibach lowering springs as I forgot i need a bung to close the Ko4 port on the CAI:wacko:

Fitted my Eibach springs at the weekend only the 35mm ones so not a massive visual difference apart from the rear is not as high.
Did the tracking at the same time and the car feels better doesn't feel as hard as the oem ones, on inspection of the old springs there's no damage to them.

spare parts building up again, collected a new centre console complete with leather arm rest which has opened another door - it has phone prep in so now looking at using that and fitting OEM bluetooth which means double din conversion:eyebrows:
also picked up 8P0 steering module and harness so I can now fit my MFSW happy days. I plan to do one thing then another rears up and I change my mind lol.

I fitted my CTS intake and heatshield, I previously owned a Dbilas intake and when I went to Crail 1/4 mile the heat on the intake was scorchio so this time I thought i might try something that previously i had seen on a build thread from JonnyC and use heat reflective tape this stuff has a carbon fibre weave, its no work of art but hopefully it will serve a purpose. I ran the CAI for a week then when checking everything was still tight I noticed the tray had dried water marks and dust in it so I refitted the old OEM mouth of the intake
as it has a staggered entry point and might stop this. I didn't think it would do harm as the filter is there but its peace of mind
Also fitted the TTS Engine cover.

hopefully my Team dynamics will go on next week gave them a few coats of protectant and are ready to roll.

A snap of the car all dirty, this on the Eibach 30mm springs and has settled now. As prev mentoned the TD's are going on so the OEM wheels are going to Pentland for powder coating, I was going to get silver with a metalic flake thru it but seen a nice anthracite with flake thru it and its light not the usual dark and I am swaying to it now for my winter wheel colour.

New rimmage fitted at long last TD's nothing special but wanted a set for a while, not sure on the silver may change it.

highlights my brakes now so need to paint the bell hubs and callipers and although its lowered on Eibach's they're only the 30mm so might go to 50mm.

also did my pillars on gloss black 3m wrap, this maybe temp solution as I might just spray them instead.

fitted my pressed plates as well.

Cars looking great!

Were the number plate LEDs a straight swap? Any errors at all?

better weather so thought I would tackle retro fitting the arm rest and swapping the centre console, when I bought the arm rest I had to buy the console as well which was no biggy as mines had some issues that I wanted to sort, the drinks holder had peeled and it had no arm rest lol. Its pretty easy to swap over, its no S3 interior but if I had wanted that I would have bought one:moa:

need to swap some other bits as well window switches and headlight switch, may wrap a few bits or plastidip depending on how easy they are to do but have some spare bits to practice on as well now.

Do you have to change the centre consol when adding an armrest?

you don't have to I just did it as mine had marks and the free one was in better condition, there is a template on here if you just want to cut the existing one. you need a M14 bolt nut to secure it.

Nice thread. Keep'em coming!
Any plans on bi-xenon headlights, tint?

Nice car and mods, reg the alloys I think speedline turini look good simillar to TD but better pattern imo:

It was the speedlines i hoped for but the TD's came up locally first, need to get them refurbed as wife has kerbed two already

You cant get away from kerbing if you let your missus drive it... I know what you say as my wife did the same literally after 2 months of owning the car and BE rotors are pain and expensive to repair. Feel for you buddy :)

I like how this car is being updated each time, especially the OEM+ additions.
Wheels look great in silver, keep them that way.

well, the car went for its MOT and passed after the CV's were changed. It's getting the thermostat changed on Monday and if all goes well a DV+ fitted to a new Rev D dv. It's picked up some weird scratches on the front wing which I may try to polish out but haven't cleaned the car since around late july. I am still not liking the car and to confound issues a strange noise occurs when load transfers at the front (intermit) maybe suspension? but the springs have been uprated so maybe the dampers are going out. been pricing up some Bilstein B8's but not sure the cars worth it so maybe ST or even cheaper B4 setup. power is still a nagging issue.

Busy week, after the MOT was done and the thermostat replaced the car was worse than before, no boost at all and high idle, error code P0101 came up with the Maf,

replaced the maf but no change, mechanic mate said it would be the pcv and replaced that and fault code gone but still very bad idle scan showed readings all to feck, so we sent smoke through the intake and it shows up leaks I had three issues maf sensor gasket was failing, a small boost pipe was split at either end

and the pipe that goes to the intercooler wasn't on properly the last two were probably the work to replace my thermostat done by the previous garage, eejits, so after all that the cars running sweet as now and pulling better than when i first got it and with the DV+ i notice a difference. Big thanks to my mechanic mate and S3 Jacko for selling his DV+ this mated to the Rev D dv is a good mod imo.

Did you notice a difference with the dv+ on the K03 when you were driving after?
