Basically how close would it be between the S3 and Merc? I know the merc would pull away at the higher the speed thanks to the V8 but would the S3 be able to keep with it at the lower speeds (up to 80?)

im not sure asi have a mate who is a amg specilist at a merc dealer said my car is probably the fastest thing he has been in even more so top end if you keep it high in the revs

Not sure really, but I think any well tuned S3 8P Stage 2+ would give a lot of expensive high performance cars a run for their money, thats what i love about them!!

I'd expect the AMG to pull away quite easily on a decent stretch of road.

Might get a quick jump wih the S3's extra grip, especially if the Merc lights up its rear, but once the Merc has traction it'll pull away no problem.

the problem is drivers , gears , gearbox , condition, everything up hill , down hill ,

i would say down hill if you nail if to red line in every gear you will be right their with a c63 due to heavy car auto box and no turbos and probly gain on it especially as c63 is 155 limited my s3 does 170 no problem and gets their pretty fast !!

Unless it's wet, then it's a different ball game. Try putting just shy of 500 horses down in the wet through the rear wheels. I struggled in the wet with my old M3 CSL. However I made up for it in the corners 👍

As above its a matter of car, driver road and power/weight plus torque.

A Stg2+ S3 would be about even on power/weight but will lose out a lot on torque and top end power.

I would say it would be about evens until the C63 hits it's stride.

A Stg4 S3 is a different matter LOL.

(Couldn't help that for the C63 owner locally who found out. )

Did a similar comparison with the S4 Vs the S3 with the misses.
Oki the S3 is s-tronic but it the S3 was gone, it would take a long road top gain it back with some ringing of that howling V8.
Don't get me started on the twistys lol (ok she races) but the S4 stood no chance, S3 is so nimble

Having gone from a manual 2+ s3 to my current E92 M3 DCT (very similar to the C63 in power) I would say that the power is far easier to let rip in the S3 obviously due to the 4wd.

However, once the M3 is going and if you can make it happen without the TT lights flashing like a christmas tree, with the 8250rmp limit, as well as the DCT gear box set to change speed 6, its unbeleivabley fast. It's a very linear pull in comparison to the turbo feel and feels strong to 70.

I wouldnt know what it feels like over 70 of course..........

Can't beat the sound of a 63 engine I know that much. Unreal.

My buddy put his ko4 mk5 (370bhp) gti against a c63, from a roll 30-80 gti pulled away, 110+ c63 just hammered him
