Anyone here have some good pics of their S3 in glacier white please? I'm in crazy debate mode now on which colour to go with, as I can still switch to a misano red, which I also love!

I'm keen to see real life pics!

Appreciate any help!

Thanks! That does look epic. I don't think I'm going to change my mind now haha.

What's the profile on those tyres you're running?

As you can see - i changed my alloys, personal preference etc, but colour wise it is really classy for a white car, i know they are common these days but this is a hint darker than the rest, looks alot classier and subtle, get compliments all the time at petrol stations...

Some even mention the car too!

Yeah I'm swapping the wheels that come with the Perf Pack to a set of 19" Audi 5 Arm from a TTRS. Friend of mine wants to trade, and I have no issues with that :)

What's the spec on the tyres you're running?

Nice choice!

They are 225/35 ZR19

To be honest they still look around the 18" mark due to the dark colour of the alloys, so looks very OEM...

Nice. I'm going to run a 235/35. Conti Sport 5Ps.

I'm a huge fan of the 5 arms. Love them with the two tone. Easy to clean too!

Agreed!

Quick note on the glacier, easy enough to keep clean (not like black) shows EVERY single line off , looks meatier than it's counterparts, has the most stark colour contrast, and like the crystal effect paint you get similar shade variation....i.e. The darker the daylight gets the brighter the car gets...and in other light it has a tint of grey to it...

Nice. I saw an Estoril Blue out on the road down here in Sydney yday. I'll admit, in the sun, it looks very nice. The panther black is also nice, but a PITA to clean.

I also like the black roof rails you have. Mine is aluminium (as I purchased a car that was soon to be in stock...no way I was waiting 6 months for a custom order), but I'm having them wrapped black, along with the front grille, and the window trim.

Yeah the window trim is the only part of my car i want to change, will probably have it wrapped black at some point!

Estoril and Panther are great colours too, but IMO only if you have the relaible sunny climate for it as you do over there in Oz (lucky b*****d)

I have seen a few Estoril's over here when it was my first choice of colour, both were on overcast days, and as a result both looked a bit disappointing for me, looked like a Cadbury's chocolate wrapper colour...

But, a member from Oz recently posted those beautiful pictures of a well detailed Estoril S3 in the Oz sunshine recently and they looked immense!

White also gleams in the sun!

Just go with your heart mate, forget what you think other people may think!

The pearl/metallic colours really get set off in the sun. The thread going on here about the panther black really had me going for a bit. That with the Audi 5 arms in matte grey/silver would be mad.

Once you start wrapping parts though, it never ends. I'm also thinking about wrapping the rear diffuser, as it has an aluminium trim to it. Same with the front diffusers.

I am picking up my white S3 this wednesday its got black roof rails on which i'm not so keen on so if your based in Sydney, know how to remove them and want to swap let me know!

Hey mate. I was told that the roof rails aren't actually removable, as they are welded into the frame.

Yes I think you may be correct as its a 2013 model although im sure I read somewhere that they were bolted in. Guess I wont know until Wednesday. I have to say that the white is by far the best colour. The one I purchased was supposed to be a demo used by the store so managed to haggle a good deal.

Fark yeah that looks hot.

Grill needs to be blacked out though I reckon. I'm not the biggest fan of the shiny bits on the S3!

Hi London

Nice looking car there!

I've just placed an order for Monsoon Grey, as I think it looks stunning in these pics

Audi S3 - a set on Flickr

For me, it was between either Monsoon Grey or Glacier White (I love your pics Johnny B!) although my other half prefers Monsoon Grey and thinks Glacier White is 'boring'. Though we haven't seen either in the flesh yet!

Thanks dstama!

I was supposed to be picking up the car today but looks like it will be ready tomorrow now.

I realised that over here in Sydney the European style of the plates we have are big for the rear of the car and small for the front which means its not going to look as good as the official European plates as there will be a horrible gap on the front where the remainder of the plate should be.

Im thinking about removing the front grill and pulling out the plastic plate holder which will give more visible grill and compliment the smaller plate hopefully.

Will keep everyone updated on the progress.

The white euro classic range plates will fit the front holder perfectly. They're the same size as the rear plate, both 520mm x 110mm.

But, it's only the white ones that fit. The black plates are smaller in the front for some odd reason.

Thats great news thanks Con!

I was worried when I saw the smaller sizes on myplates.com.au

White Euros should look much better than the black on the glacier for sure.

Yeah the RTA is messed up haha. Why they would only make the white ones in the same size and not the rest of the lineup is odd.

Seriously messed up! I not long got back from the Wynyard RTA an they have had a complete refurb! New Apple Macs etc and tried to make the place look like some kind of airport lounge. Clearly this is where all the money i've payed to the SDRO is going! Haha

Disagree on the grill subject tbh, i personally think the chrome gives the front end a bit of character as there really is nothing much going on there (no splitter , no different to an A3) so the contrasting of the chrome in front of the black bits makes it look busier, blacked out IMO would make it look a bit S-line by numbers...

Really don't like my window trim though, although the new alloys have helped balance it out a bit...

OK, comparison time then haha! Standard grill vs. blacked out.

Note this is from the last gen S3. I can't find any good picks of the 8V series.

I still prefer the blacked out look.

Quite a poor comparison to be fair, the lighting in the left pic is very crisp, the right pic looks dull and dirty and more like Amalfi white rather than Ibis!

I have got a clear front end pic of mine, so if you can find a blacked out one then that would be interesting to see!

Quick question too, is the chrome grill found on the S3 exclusive to the S3? The reason i ask is that i remember the 8P was very distinctive from the front when it had the standard chrome grill on, basically to my eyes it to this day still makes it stand out as an S3 rather than the plethora of black s-line grills on the 8P you see on the roads...

And i basically looked out for the badge and rear diffuser to tell them apart..

The 8V so far from the front only has the silver wing mirrors (if my question turns out to be no) and obviously the 4 pipes at the back..

Again, best I could really find. I still think it does a good job at showcasing the chrome/aluminium trim though, which was my point. Not the colour of the car.

No, the chrome grill isn't exclusive to the S3. At least not for us down here. It's on the entire A3 range.

There are still a few differences between the A3/S3. The entire front bumper is different. There are side diffusers (although fake) on the S3. The rear diffuser also has a chrome trim piece on it. The side sills are different. The S3 also has a chrome trim around the windows, which the A3 does not.

I'm still a fan of the black :)

I have to say I think the matt black looks a little cheap in comparison to the silver which gives the car a look of prestige although if it were high gloss black then it would be a different story! High gloss would look great. I did this on my Scirocco badges using Plastidip and clear coat but would be better to pay for it to be professionally wrapped for a quality finish. Im thinking about getting the roof and rails wrapped in high gloss black as soon as I pickup the car.

Black does look good no doubt, i just like to liven the front end up a bit with extra contrast...

And colour is important regarding the grills because sharp contrast between white / black / chrome compared to a duller pocture can make a huge difference

I will try upload a pic of my old 8P S3 front end if i can find it...

Regards to the front bumper and side diffusers and side sills, over here in the UK i'm pretty sure all the A3 has them across the range, although someone may want to clear that up for me?

Yes the rear diffuser on the S3 is different here too, and i know in Oz the calipers are painted red which i think makes a huge difference, the UK really missed a trick there IMO!

The only reason I brought up this topic is due to the fact that I am going to have my roof rails wrapped in black. They're aluminium as it stands. Having those in black and the rest of the trim pieces still in chrome just looks odd to me. So either it's all black, or I leave it chrome, but I don't like the look of the roof rails like that. Does not suit light coloured cars. Sure, on a phantom black or estoril blue, the chrome rails look great.

What is that white stuff on the ground? :cold:

See, the A3 doesn't have those side slits in the front bumper. At least not for us. The front splitter(s) are also different.

Well i have been considering warpping the window surrounds black since i got it, i like the grill but not keen on the surrounds...

Black rails do look brilliant though, get complimented on them all the time

It's snow foam on the ground, either that or someone walked past and got a little too excited over the car..

Yeah i'm pretty sure all the A3's or at least the S-line's have the exact same front and side as the S3 with regards to the bumper and slit in the side...

See I would still think it'd look odd, blacking out the window surrounds, but not the rear diffuser and front grill. For me, it's either all or none, leaving only the mirrors in that chrome style finish.

Well the chrome also goes with my 19" alloys, they have 2 polished parts which pick up the chrome features of the car nicely...

Would you not then black out the wing mirrors in carbon etc then? My cousin has bought my 8P from me and has already got black wheels on, has ordered the RS3 grill and is having the mirrors wrapped in black...

No I wouldn't. I would only keep the mirrors chrome to give it contrast. All else black.
