Think I may have to reconsider that colour, in the showroom it looked dull as hell

The crazy 44 degree day probably helped show off the colour! The car looks totally different in the sunshine - the last ones in the shade look much darker (still stunning IMHO).

So jealous that we don't get those red brake calipers in the uk!

Looks really good!!!

Just an observation but why are Australian number plates so small? There seems to be excessive number plates housing areas both at the front and rear.

These are smaller than regular Victorian plates (which are normally much higher and a little wider). Not sure why the dealer put the smaller versions on - I hadn't really noticed until I took these photos. Perhaps the regular ones are too high for the housing or look even weirder than the small ones.

The housing will be to cater for European plates. I thought the same when I looked at your photos - looks a bit odd!

Had my detailer sort the paintwork on my new car. Took some shots of it on what was a stupendously hot day (see the picture of the dash with the temperature in the bottom right!

When you say sort, do you just mean wash or did they do the paint protection for you also? I'm still in two minds if I should pay the money for the paint protection through the delaership (retail is $1300 however i've negotiated to $825) or go elsewhere to get it done. Found prices ranging from $300 - $500.

The problem with the dealership doing it is that you have no control over the quality of the job. They obviously want to make a tidy profit out of the work so the could just contract it out to the cheapest 'detailer' that they can find. I agree about all the dubious claims about paint protection but I did a lot of research and found a quality detailer (dozens and dozens of amazing reviews) and he sorted it out. The paint was fine (couple of light swirls) so just needed a wash, small correction and then the paint protection. Time will tell if it was wasted money :)

A few more of mine looking shiney in a car park :)

Thanks for the photos battle. The car looks epic in the photos and must look even better in the flesh! Any particular reason why you didn't go for the ali frames around the window but went with the aluminum grill?

Thanks a lot mate :).

Well, simple answer is that i preferred the dark look on the sides mostly because of the back tinted windows. But had i chosen the black grill at the front it would have been too dark and (i think) spoilt the effect.

It's all a matter of personal taste but I'm very happy with the look.

I understand. It's good that, even though I didn't, that this alternate scheme can be opted for on the S3 8v where as, correct me if I'm wrong, you were unable to do this on the 8P unless you lived in Europe?

Did you add the extinguisher or did you order it at time of ordering?

I'm not too sure but i think that deleting the chrome window surrounds did go with a black front grill, as you said, on the old P. I did that on my white 8P diesel, so yeah.

On the new 8V i hadn't asked for deletion of the window chrome surrounds, in fact it came like that by default, with the option of adding chrome window surrounds free of charge. Whereas asking for a blackened (non chrome) front grill would have been a paying option.

They always fit it for you in any car you order in this country. They don't ask and i honestly can't remember if i paid for it, i guess i did knowing Audi lol.

Haha I've been seen many a time taking pics of cars in car parks over the years!! There's something about a newly polished car under flouresent lights!! Denburn has been my carpark of choice!!
No pressure mate I just like the way you take a pic!!

My 8v S3 had a visitor....an 8P TDi (170) Black Edition. I couldn't resist a quick snap :)

Both fantastic cars being Audi's but even in that dark photo you can see how the 8v has evolved into a sleeker, sharper and more purposeful car. The new lines, shape of the headlights are homage to the design team at Audi and that's just the looks! 39 days and counting!

Not sure if anyone thinks the same but every time I see an 8v in the flesh they always seem a lot more sleeker and compact than the 8p.

I also think so, it looks like the 8V would be smaller than then 8P for some reason. It's other way around...
And people say they look pretty much the same, I think it's quite big difference. But maybe its just me :)

Not only has the 8P been on a diet to become the 8V but some rhinoplasty and a nip and tuck here and there!

Just arrived so a hurried camera phone shot before i take her out. Will get some better pics later. First impressions - could not be happier with my choice. Now where to go?

Tee hee, i know what you mean.

If i get my way there'll be an S5 infront of the A3 once she learns to drive.

Obviously i didn't spend enough to get on the facebook page though.
