Had the car valeted today so thought I'd take an opportunity to take some pics. Poor light though. so they aren't the best shots but will give you some idea.

That's well nice mate! What front bumper is that?

Thanks. Bumper is RS4 one. Not sure if it's a genuine one made to fit or a replica. It does have a genuine RS4 grille though so it might be the real McCoy!

I thought it looked rs4 but then I was confused by the fit as the rs4 would be more flared. It looks great though, proper nice car!

I bet you surprise a few people in it.

I've been driving it very calmly actually til I get used to it. Had a little squirt this morning though, jesus it's quick! It's very Jekyll and Hyde though. It's very smooth and dare I say it civilised low down but as soon as the revs rise it's like it suddenly sprouts hair and fangs!

I've removed all S4 badging so most people won't know what it is but I'm toying with putting that TDi badge on the back for a laugh for the ultimate sleeper look!

Just seen your tt advert on audisrs....oh how I wish I had 3.5k! Such a nice tt mate, proper nice mods you've done it it!

Thanks. Yes it is a helluva lot of car for the money. I was at the point with it where I was about to blow big money getting it to 350bhp, but it would have needed rods, turbo, manifold injectors etc etc. Lot of work. The mrs hated the car, said it was too small (adults in the back is a non starter), but she loved my A4 TQS, so I decided to make both of us happy by buying a bigger car that was already over 350. Win win! lol I must admit tho I did have a tear in my eye when I advertised her. Someone is getting a bargain!

B5QUAT what sort of mpg are you getting? I know that's a 'how long is a piece of string' question, but a round about figure would be great? Can't decide to get a S4 B5, S4 B6 or a non-RS/S B7 next.

Personally if your going to get a non S/RS B7, B6 S4 or S4 B5 id go for the S4 B5 or a TQS or if a B7 i would only probably choose a 2.0T Quattro (sport or DTM but not many DTM's so would be a sport).

I think the B5's body beats any A4 in the range in terms of looks you can look at it from any angle and still enjoy looking at it !!

What ever you do dont get a B6 i ****** hate them lol

Thanks Bradderz, I fancy a V8 (B6) but don't fancy the running costs, so a B6 S4 is low on the list. A B7 is preferred by the wife, as it's 'newer' but I love the naughty look of the B5 ^^^ S4, plus it's a bit cheaper to buy and possibly run being turbo V6 rather than V8. A DTM would be ideal but limited run means higher purchase price/insurance no doubt.

If an S4 B5 does close-ish to 30mpg driving saintly then it might be a goer, as I know B7 2.0T do around that but are slower than an S4. It's also cheaper to insure a B7 2.0T than my A3 1.8T, for some reason.

It's not good news I'm afraid. On the way back from buying the car I did 200 miles at a constant 60-65mph and managed 26mpg average. Round town stopping and starting it's more like 14-15 and if start ragging it, more like 11. My dad has a B6 S4 4.2V8 and his does roughly the same, there isn't much in it. Mine is quite heavily modded tho. I suspect a standard one would be more economical. My previous 1.8TQS would average about 23 round town and mid 30s on a run. My 270bhp TT was amazing in comparison 28 round town and 40+ on a run.

Thanks B5QUAT - not what I wanted to hear TBH. I knew it wasn't going to be incredible mpg but that's a little lower than I'd thought. I'm half-tempted to just keep the A3 and make it a lot quicker. I presume the 1500+kg and weighty V6 aren't exactly best of friends when it comes to trying to be economical.

I just can't justify the huge drop in economy despite the vast increase in pace. Few people on here have 200-230bhp A3s and still get 35+mpg on a run but high5s/low 6s to 60mph (I know it's a stupid benchmark), which for me, is what I'm after I think but I do really really want a V6 or a V8 sometime, probably as a 2nd car I'd guess though. Shame the 1800 motor sounds like a fart.

Yeah the A3 1.8T (even if you have it with the Haldex 4wd) is pretty damn economical for the performance. With a few mods you can be up in the high 200s bhp which makes for a quick car. Problem is, higher than that and it starts to get pricey. That's what I found with the TT. I had 44mpg out of that a few times on steady cruise yet it was v quick with 270bhp and 290lbsft. You are right the S4 is a whole different animal. V heavy, permanent 4wd and if like mine it is probably around 400, they don't make for the most economical cars.

You can make the 1.8T sound pretty great with a full (or partial) decat and a decent stainless zorst.

Thanks man, decat is going on next weekend and then I need to get it mapped, should see 210-220bhp on my little KO3S.

Anyway, sorry for clogging up your thread. The car looks the f**king nuts :) Any videos of it?

Haha. No worries. All good Audi discussions. You could do with a TT/S3 donor car to pinch bits off (the k04 for one) and you would have one fast little A3.

Thanks for the comments on the car. Well pleased with it. Few minor bits to sort with it and I'll be happy. No videos yet. Only had it 2 weeks, so not really had chance. Might do some soon.

That is a good idea mate, didn't think of getting a donor car, there are plenty of eejits that bin TTs. The turbo is probably the next thing on the way out TBH, almost 130k miles, and no doubt the original (can't see any replacements in the history). However, the knock-on effect of needing better brakes/suspension/tyres is already on the list before I even think of making it fast.

There's an S3 breaking in the for sale section on here. Might be worth pm'ing him with a shopping list. I'm pretty sure I've got my old TT calipers knocking about somewhere too. If I can find them you can have them for nowt. You'd need TT discs and pads and you might need a bracket to get them to fit. Not sure. Ask about and if you can use them, give me a shout.
