Hi, only had a couple of drives in the car in the dark but dear are the lights bad.

It looks like there are different bulbs as the light is quite white but the lighting of the road is really bad. Are the lights really that bad or is it potentially down to the lad before fitting crappy bulbs?

I was thinking of asking t8ups for some bulbs.

These are the lights in question

The high beam bulb looks like its not sitting correctly for starters from the picture but I find the same thing with my light be it OEM bulbs or aftermarket "white" bulbs which is why im looking to save up and get a new car with xenon atleast :D

could either be cheap ebay tat or phillips diamond visions

I think my diamond visions are quite good compared to other bulbs I've had!
I'd say they need aligning personally, drive up to a wall /garage door and see if the beam pattern is correct!

Those bulbs look quite cheap and nasty! Fit some decent rated bulbs eg Philips or osrams and see how you go

Thanks for the reply's, I have taken the main beam one out (t8ups was asking about the Wattage), and refitted. It does seem to sit better. They are 55w. Will see now what t8ups can offer bulb wise. Maybe it sitting better will make it work better.

I don't know why people fit cheap rubbish bulbs.

The lights are crap on my a3 I have fitted bulbs from t8ups they are a bit whiter but its the beam from the headlight is very poor my old passat was the same you would think with it being twin headlights they would be good but its not the case I fitted hid in my passat in the end but the a3's dont like aftermarket hid and the oem are expensive I am wondering if higher wattage bulbs will be ok in them?

They are mate yes I think you can fit after market hid if you run seperate earth to them instead of useing the original shared earth

Is it only me that think the standard H7 reflectors are ok?!!!

I use Halfrauds Extreme Brilliance and never felt that I need more light...

And I even mainly drive my 16yr old van (with the same bulbs but in H4) and still don't think they are too bad!! :p

I do a lot of driving, I prefer driving at night as well

I have a set of these in mine and they are on par with xenons IMO, I rarely use my main beam as i see no need for it with them, they're not cheap but then can you put a price on safety?

Philips 12972-XVS2 H7 X-Treme Vision 100% Kit (2 Bulbs): Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike

They are inserted correctly and levelled perfectly yet people oncoming at night think i have my main beam on and flash me, similar to what happens in a bi-xenon equipped cars.

I was of similar opinion and i think unless i buy an older car my next will have xenons

I have OEM bulbs in the same OEM housings as you and they are fine, if not wonderful. Of course, having had OEM HIDs in my two previous cars, they aren't as good, but they aren't bad.

That's interesting, looks like it's the rubbish bulbs then.
