My 8V S3 when I get it will be my first "proper" fast car. Had mainly hot hatches since I was 20 like Mk5 GTI, MINI JCW (second generation), 120d, 130i M Sport and a rather shocking 08 plate Polo GTI which was so bad I asked for my money back after two weeks.

My S3 will be my 8th new car in 11 years of driving. Wasted thousands lol - but was worth it!

You can't take it with you as they say!

Are many of you younger ones using PCP?

I bought an 8P recently I was toying with getting a 'new' car (just out of uni got a job sorted etc) but the rents don't want me around for too long ha. So I need to save for a house deposit :( wish I could of got an 8V (I'm 24)

Yeah, PCP. Insurance was £660 for the year with 6 points. I had a Corsa for a few years after passing my test, and then bought a A3 2.0 TDI Black Edition which I kept for 3 years, followed by a Golf GTI which I kept for <2 years and now have the S3. All new. I said that I wouldn't buy another car (after the Golf) until I'd bought my house, which I have, so I felt it was time to treat myself again. All paid for by myself. I don't know why people are so surprised, @ 23 (nearly 24) I've been working for 5+ years out of college

God, didn't realise we had so many rich young chaps in S3's ;) I'm 33 and I could never have afforded an S3 in my early 20's as had mountains of Uni debt to pay off!

Fully loaded S3 = cost of my first house!!!!!!

It's pcp that makes it possible you can get a lot of car for certain deals. 21 year old Lads on 20k a year are running round in new M3s, AMGs etc. it's good if your happy with not owning the car and living at home with parents, I think I'll look into pcp for my next car.

27, was planning on buying a S3 a couple of years ago but bought a house instead.

It's been a long time coming!

I have 5 years no claims. I would have more but I've cancelled policies mid term a few times when changing cars as it didn't make financial sense to change the car on the existing policy.

Gee you are a bunch of young lads. I am 47 and will receive my S3 in 2 weeks time. Also have a Superbike to keep me young and alive :p

Wait until you are as old as me . Age doesn't stop you having an S3!

I'm 27 first Audi for me, just come form a TDI Scirocco.

Keep saying this car I will keep but after 3/4 years never seems to pan out :)

an m3 or amg merc on £20K a car...gulp, living at home with parents or not I wouldn't buy a car like that

weird, audi insurance wanted a laughable £997 for me despite 25+ years driving exp, 25+ years ncd and a naughty ts10 3 points

Quick check via confused.com and hey presto £270

Audi insurance staff must be on drugs

3x cost of mine!

crikey, you guys either live/lived in a shed or bought a long long long time

my first house in 1999 was a 3 bed (well 2 bed with a converted loft for a 3rd bedroom that was mega tiny at 10ftx10ft) and cost almost 4x a standard s3 sportback manual - same house is 10x-12x now - the joys of living in berkshire

56 years old here and I still had my mates S3 bumbling along at 120, think I frightened him a tad. Audi S3 a sure licence looser in the wrong hands

wow, ive been driving 25+ years and driven fewer cars
Ford Escort 1.6GL - 1 year
Ford Fiesta XR2 - 1 week as a heap of rubbish
VW Golf GTI Mk2 - 6 years - great fun, alas VW destroyed the car until the mk6
Peugeot 205 1.9GTI - 6 years - best car ive had - strong a cornflake packet, modded to 170bhp and £000s spent on upgrades, drove like a go kart and pretty nippy
Peugeot 307xsi - 11 years - current car - most reliable car ive had oddly - strangely better than the 308 that replaced it and as good as the current 308 imo

tip run car
Ford fiesta 1.25 - 1 year - just sold

often drive the wifes cars
Peugeot 306 1.4xn
merc a class - current car

Yep I've been a bit silly with cars over the years. Was paid a very good wage from early twenties so it was inevitable really that I'd waste it on cars!

Odd to hear about your poor Audi insurance quote. Currently pay £340 per year on A1 185 BE and it will be going UK to £411 a year for the S3. That's with 3 points for the Mrs and my 3 windscreen claims. Both with 6 years no claims.

I think a lot of cars are like that, my Peugeot 205 1.9gti got off the clock at approx. 145mph I guess when I was a young 35-36

you would think 25 years ncd would help, sure ts10 doesn't help but that's my first traffic offence in 20 years on the worst design roundabout ever (yes, traffic lights on a roundabout = pointless)

NCD usually peaks at 5 years with up to 75% discount. After this additional years of NCD make very little, if any difference at all.
