revo map ????? reset

it might sound ridiculous and it probably is a few bhp from detontion but i know it is possible to get alot of bhp for little money
thank you kwistof for explaining why instead of having a go. Obviously there are more idiots on here than car enthusiasts!!! lol

I'd be surprised if it's higher than 270/280bhp max tbh with the mods added.

But then again those figures are just 'shy of 300' when using man maths between mates :p

Not many idiots here tbh- just lots of pure bred enthusiasts who have shovelled lots of time, money and effort into their cars and so when someone comes along and makes wild claims that have never been equalled across any of the top tuning places in the country, then obviously there's going to be a bit of 'idiocy' in the replies you get from us.

Most stage 1 S3's make 250/260hp tops and thats assuming the condition of the engine is good (which varies wildly these days)

Getting a genuine 300hp from a stock K04 turbo takes a fair amount of effort and so far very few can lay claim to this (Westy and Philler I'm looking at you)...

A fairly unmodded car won't have that power long either... the SMIC's heatsoak very quickly and the ECU protection routines kick in pulling timing and dropping torque/power like a stone

Now that last part I didn't know. So my logged 223grams on a B5TIP and mapped, but other wise standard car will not be seen for long? So you could say, even if you don't go the whole hog and get a 3"DP and TBE, a FMIC is a good idea anyway? Almost the half stage between "1" and "2"?

A FMIC is always a good idea... I noticed a massive improvement in power retention after I fitted my first FMIC...

<tuffty/>

"Stage 2" maps generally designed to take advantage of the engines ability to deal with flow and heat... fitting a FMIC, B5 TIP, 3" DP etc improves the engines ability to deal with heat and improves the overall efficiency of the engine... a more efficient engine can make more power... Stage 2 tunes normally lift midrange power... K04's are pretty much out of puff by 5.5k and all you have left is ignition timing to keep the torque/power up.. if you manage the heat properly through decent upgrades and boost management/mapping then you will haev most of your power capability more of the time...

Torque drops off between 5.5k and 6k anyway on std cams... doesn't matter how big a blower you fit ;P

For the benefit of newton blokey:

240g/s logged? thats 300bhp of airflow assuming 99UL pump fuel..
unless thats what you see it flowing, without high octane fuel, water meth, and mods to cope with heat and allowing decent flow, thats why 300bhp claim from next to no mods is being called...

Folks on here are actually quite experienced ;)

Well it doesn't matter even if i claim 400 bhp with no mods my problem is with revo maps not the fact that 300 bhp is possible with next to no mods. If you spend your hard earned cash on your pride and joy in my experience (as i am not 19) and have been doing stuff like this for many years with not a lot of money DON'T go to revo end of.

Do you ever feel sorry for posting a thread!!!!!!:wtf:

Cheers gents for the info, is been interesting to say the least.

Have Revo on my S3. On boost setting 9 and timing 8 it pulls airflow of 217 g/s with max timing CF of 4.5. Wouldn't call it a crap map tbh.

Will be getting a badger 5 map when I finish building my new engine, but the Revo does pull well.

kinda harsh on revo... you realise its adjustable, and does'nt "have" to be set to 9 boost right? - lol

I see so many like this, and I make MORE power from them by turning them DOWN.. ;)

Each to their own

Whatever makes you happy

Yeh I have an SPS to adjust it with. Its a real old revo map, runs a decat and one of your 3" TIP's. Intake temps don't get overly high at boost 9 in the winter. In the summer I run it at boost 8, timing 7. Don't tend to drive the car hard enough to heat soak it and log regularly to check all is in order.

This thread has amused me so much its restored my faith in asn :)
