Mosstly true !! I changed the battery on mine and the settings remained. However they can reset to default !! You just take it back to the place who mapped it and they will load the setting back on. Or you can buy the SPS switch and load your settings back on yourself !!

ye took it back and they remapped foc, going for a switch so i can do it myself.

so its not really a flash memory then?

cheers

Thats right !! They are good, l have stg 1 on my leon. Getting a full exhaust and decat in a couple of weeks, then a FMIC(soon) then back over for stg 2 ;)

Hoping it might put out 240BHP

Im not sure on the matt finish the plasti dip gives you. Would need to see it first!!

Revo shouldn't reset on 1.8t's... the settings are stored in the ecu rom and should be persistent. ..

<tuffty/>

I was told different tuffty, also there are threads on this also...

Not that I'm questioning you, obviously lol ;)

Not saying it doesn't happen of course but it shouldn't... does happen on TFSI's though...

<tuffty/>

ok if you are going to delete my post i will tell you what i really think of revo :Flush: CRAP!!!!!!!!

I was gonna buy an sps switch but was put off because allegedly my ecu can't store the 3 diff settings it can only utilise stock or the single mapped. Again could be wrong !!

If you feel the need to post that a map is no good at the very least have the decency to post the reason why or it will be deleted.

revo i found on a friends car was ok they mapped it to a so called stage one which i admit did make it go a bit faster but when they mapped it they put a lot of limiters in the programme so it was going like stink then holding off at top end. then if something breaks as all engines do the map runs limp mode. so to cut a long story short it was remapped to sort this problem after engine was fixed revo also move the seed key so it is harder for anyone else to remap. It took 3hrs to find the key and remove map. Revo map on the s3 gave about 250bhp max got rid and remapped now is running just shy of 300bhp with only forged recirculation valve and a panel filter as mods.

Sounds an unbelievable map no wonder you dislike Revo

Ive disconnected my battery probably a dozen times since my remap sometimes as long as 8 hrs and the maps still there, i was told it will never lose the map, turn your computer off and it doesnt lose your pictures does it?

Craig

it is not that i dislike i just hate it when people are ranting and raving about them when they are not really that good. not for performance maybe for eco driving

oh and i love my revo map, did what it said on the tin + 20Hp & lbft more. all in all i gained 70hp & 80lbft from a stg 1 with just a modified airbox and panel filter

The map itself won't disappear... this is true of all maps... however Revo write settings into the ECU's eeprom to store settings used for boost, ignition and fuelling... its the same as the adaption channels the ECU uses to store adaption values for fuel trims and ignition adjustment counters etc...

On 1.8t's the settings should remain when the battery is disconnected but fuel trims etc will be reset... on TFSI's Revo tunes can and do lose settings on battery removal and reset to lower boost etc values...

Revo is decent enough code but tbh generic maps on older cars (especially with all the various upgrades that are now available) have had their day...

I have revo and tbh I don't have any complaints !!

If I could have went to Bill or Nikki l would have, but for those not fortunate enough to live anywhere near revo done the trick !!

I have very little exp with different setups so I can not comment on differences. I did hear MTM tuning were good ??

MTM do generic maps and ones specific for the hardware they supply for their turbo upgrade kits... sadly they aren't all that... most generic maps were written many years ago when available mods weren't in the same league as today and the engines were fresh..

I really wish I could get something a little special lol !!

Maybe when I get my exhaust and FMIC I could take a road trip to Bill fir stg 2 custom map ??

well sean that's me being told!!!! :salute:
if you are happy with revo then lucky you
i have a remapper that does bespoke remaps not generic and would not go anywhere else

It's definitely 'bespoke' if he can get 300bhp from what sounds like a forge TIP or dump valve and panel filter...

I seriously feel I owe it to the forum to buy another 8L, just to add balance to the number of dimwitted newbies that have joined up this year.

We knew there would come a time when S3's dropped into the price bracket of young stupid people, I had hoped that wouldn't have been so soon. But it appears our worst fears are upon us. I'm even thinking of getting one myself.

Horses for courses and all that. Companys such as Revo have there place just as much as custom mappers. If they didn't and there maps were **** as you put it, they wouldn't be as big and as popular as they are!

When I finally get an 8L S3, once the novelty of owning a faster car has worn off, I'll be going to Rick at Unicorn for a custom map. I'll try not to become a dimwitter, young stupid person as I'm only 21 and it'll be my first S3

But.

Can you afford to run one without cutting corners. That's the question.

I've got a steady full time job with a decent wage, so I'd say yes.

Due to moving in with the girlfriend soon, I've got to be more sensible though, which means coilovers etc will have to wait. Would rather have the car running sweet before doing anything like that though, unlike some which just bang a remap straight on when there's loads of problems already on the car and then moan that the remap is rubbish because it highlights the problems massively.

P.S. Always keep an eye on your 8P thread, fancy coming to give mine a clean, looks like a frigging rally car atm mine.

210/225bhp standard...

+ Recirculating DV
+ A panel filter
+ Stage 1 remap

= around 75bhp increase!!??

Where did you get this S3 remapped!!?? Got any graphs of this Revo map vs the new one?

LOL @ 300bhp.. from those mods.. or lack of. Stunning power.

muchos happy dyno... if it ever saw a dyno..

TBH guys i know it seems a bit far fetched but i got +70Hp on a 1.8T with a Stg 1 and home made modified airbox and have 3 dyno runs to prove it so it could be legit.

Craig

obviously you all know better than me and the remapper i use :end_of_discction:

I remember back in my skyline days i spent a small fortune on it and a Thread was put up about a local RR day asking for expected figures. i quoted mine as 380-400 fly and the thread went mad going on how i didnt have enough mods for that power, people with dinner plate turbos werent making that bla bla bla. It actually upset me a little as i thought we were there because we all loved skylines not to bad mouth each other. My car was running Apexi Power FC ECU with hand controller and was road mapped and the guy that did it said it was strong and expect close to 400Hp so i believed him. Anyway went to the RR and 411Bhp and alot of shocked faces. Funny as hell. Just a little story ;-)

Use the search tool- have a read up on what 100s of other people get from stage 1 remaps from an S3 with more bolt on mods than your mates and by the best tuners of our VAG cars in the country.

Then you will realise why everyone is calling custard on your mates stage 1 S3 that's running just shy of 300bhp with only a DV change and panel filter as mods.
