Canbus sidelight loom. Get rid of that Error!

After looking into the Error system and other products on the market to clear errors there was nothing as solid as just having the halogen sidelight bulb in the car.

You could replace the sidelight with a canbus LED with the resistors built onto the bulb...> The downside to this is that the bulb tends to run hotter, the same heat is given off as the halogen 501 bulb, this would mean the bulb will fail after around 20 - 50 hours of use. The LED's them selves wont fail, the chips in the circuit heat off and fall off causing the bulb to fail.

Another option was to buy a canceller loom, this had a built on resistor fitted to it so it would clear the error and a non canbus bulb can be used...> The downside to this is that the resistor could fail causing the bulb not work, you would need to remove the loom for the bulb to work and then you have the error back again.

Newly Designed by myself i have made a loom that holds a LED and a 501 halogen bulb.

The led goes into your holder and shines nice and white, the other holder houses a halogen bulb tricking the computer into thinking there is a halogen bulb connected keeping that error away. the other advantage is that it takes some of the slack from the LED to keep it running for longer.

There are 2 holders on here. a softer flexi type or a harder type. Work out which one fits best into your holder and plug the halogen into the other. you can leave the halogen in the back of the headlamp and plug in a watch the error dissapier on existing side lights or you can purchase some on our to match.

I ordered some of these LEDs from trups after buying several items from him and being happy with the results.
When i installed these looms to my car i put the halogen buld in the flexable rubber holder and the LED in the harder holder.
here are some pic to help.

Edit : never mind, filed down the plastic connectors little and got them to fit in the slot. They look Damn good. Just need to get some bright white halogens to match haha

Do these come with a cap or cover for the filament bulb? I'm a bit worried about the heat of the filament bulb damaging the inside of the light cluster.

HI.

No cap or cover, if you put them in the right place or cable tie it to some other wires they are fine.

Been over a year now since bringing these out and not one report of anything going wrong.

Do these come with a cap or cover for the filament bulb? I'm a bit worried about the heat of the filament bulb damaging the inside of the light cluster.

Once you take the cap off at the back of the light you'll see a little plastic loop, I've used a small cable tie and cable tied the filament bulb too that ;-)


Excuse the dirt I've not had the car long ;-)
