Hi folks. Just wondering what the real world average MPG figures are on 2.0 TDI 140bhp engine for the A4? I'm looking at a 2009 A4 Sline.

Parkers guide has it quoted at 56mpg Audi A4 Saloon (08 on) 2.0 TDI (143bhp) S Line (Start Stop) 4d - MPG, Dimensions & Performance | Parkers

Should I be expecting to get close to this figure with majority of driving on motorways?

If I'm down around the 49 mpg mark, does this point at problems somewhere?

I have this 2010 A4 2.0TDI 143 model and I mainly do a constant 65/70mph with cruise on everyday to work and I am averaging around 59/60 mpg but I would be changing gears quite low revs and very little heavy acceleration! Even town driving returns quite satisfying figures! .. My last A4 I would be lucky to get 40mpg but then it was a 2.0 Petrol!lol

I must be heavy footed then as I can only get around 45 mpg on motorway at 70-80mph, my missis can get 52mpg but she drives at 60mph in slow lane lol my combined mpg over 2000 miles has been around 35mpg

Cheers guys. So it sounds like the 49mpg figure isn't unusual.

I'm a small bit surprised coming from an S3 that is quoted at 30mpg...and I get 29mpg driving it quite spiritedly.

Immm, I have a 2ltr A4 B8 S line 143 engine, best I get is 34 constant around town and 46 when going to work which is a mixture of motorway and good A roads so a bit disappointing if you ask me, these cars are noway near what book say's you will get in terms of mpg.
Saying that I love the car! But they are a heavy car and unless you drive it like a Nun then you get what you get unfortunately.

I have a 2013 2.0 TDi 177, round town I'm getting 38 ish but on my work trips I'm getting 50 so I would have thought the 143 would be better on cruse on a long journey.

Checked mine tonight and combined over 57 hours it's doing 35.7mpg I do live in the Pennines though so a lot of driving is around hills.

I have a prity flat journey to work on the east side of the country ... It either 84 miles each way to Normanton and back or 130 miles each way to Nottingham and back on cruse, I haven't done a full tank on work only runs but according to fuelly my best tank so far is 50.4 mpg but normally about 30% of my driving is very small trips so that won't help my mpg :)

mine over about 6k has averaged 45.5mpg.

on a decent run at sensible speed <70mph i can get over 55mpg, but i get bored being overtaken lol

Seen as this topic was raised, it got me thinking so I was at awsome GTi last weekend so I bought some injector cleaner but industrial grade stuff not halfords crap I put it in the tank and filled up with 50 ltr of fuel and as I said I was getting 45 mpg on the motorway and 35 combines well what a differance this stuff made I went on a 5hour round trip and on the motorway I was getting 53.4 mpg and that was driving at 80-95mph anyway I have now finished the tank of fuel and the combined is 46mpg so around a 10mpg increase I can't believe it. I will see how long it stays like that and will be using it again when the mpg goes down for sure.

You might get more MPG driving a bit slower on the motorway!lol

What was the stuff you got called?.. I might use it in the future but for now mine is doing quite well on the fuel! :)

I will tell you what it was called on Friday as I am going back to Awsome GTi and I threw the bottle away. It seems to have made quite a differance to the mpg to be honest.

This is the stuff I used.

When I got my car originally it was July - if I drove like a old lady with an unladen car I could just about squeeze 50mpg on a motorway run. In the winter the same run went down to probably 46mpg. Round town it probably averaged anywhere from 32-48. I have a 7 mile drive to work which is uphill most of the way there, and downhill the way back so hard to get a decent idea.

In December I got a DTUK box, and did a fair bit of driving around the UK. Cambridge to Edinburgh at a steady 75 on cruise control i averaged 58.8mpg until Morpeth, when I went onto the A road through Coldstream and it went down to about 56 overall. Have done a number of runs with 4 adults + kit in January and always been over 53mpg. Urban driving has bumped up a little bit too, but they are quite short runs so its harder to tell.

I like my DTUK box :)

Car is a 2009 2.0TDi 143 Sline Avant on 19s.

I'm currently sat at awsome GTi now having a EGR delete and Remap, hoping that will bump up my mpg a bit too.

have tracked mine since getting the car 09/12 and the average has been 41mpg
best 50mpg
worst last tankfull 37mpg
my daily commute (5 mile) doesn't help, the car barely gets warm, think the colder weather also is a factor
