2013 Audi S3

Looks like the optional aluminium one, I think it's on the configurator

Just checked, it's not there now. I'm sure I saw something like that before.

2014 Audi S3 review - YouTube

There's a grey s3 saloon on this video at 1:40. Anyone got any idea what colour it is? Could it be monsoon grey as it looks absolutely stunning.

monsoon - I test drove an a3 sportback in reading but I dint like the colour. its probably another colour that probably looks good in a warmer climate

Here is a quick pic of her just after I parked on my driveway.

I must say that Aberdeen Audi were fantastic. They let me have the handover booth to myself to wax the car! they are also going to swap my plates for me when the private plate transfer goes through. Brilliant service :)

Looks good. If I were you I'd ditch the PPs or as an option change your name to Simon Wilson or Local artisan entrepreneur !

I like my plate. Got it as a pressie too so would be rude to let someone else have it, especially as I didn't pay for transfer ;)

Thanks.

The dealer said this was the first silver one they had sold (and they have had 4 S3 picked up in the last 2 days so they are pretty busy with them). I did have second thoughts about silver but I'm so glad I stuck to my guns - the black pack just sets it off nicely.

Perhaps there is a Simon Wilson out there who wants you discarded PP?

Like the silver, looks understated. Black pack on silver looks good too.
Still can't love the 3 door though.........

Will keep an eye out for you in Aberdeen and the Shire.

Great looking car...my SB is on order in Silver and I toyed with guys on heres advice about Black pack...im begining to wish id listened now,the grill looks great. As it stands ive stuck with the chrome and the rails too....only today i was asked do I want to add a pan roof, but im not convinced it will look right on silver. My dealer has a silver S3 SB in stock with the other wheels and you have DEFINATELY chose the right wheels,as have I.
May can't come quick enough and im sure driving to Aberdeen every month will be more fun than in my Allroad 3.0 tdi.
Well done on your Purrrrchace

First impressions are: Wow.

I was really nervous about my spec. In Australia we have a standard S3 with the S-Line pack/wheels and an optional, more expensive S Performance version with diamond stitched seats and the 5 spoke tuning fork rims (you guys call these 'standard'). I was most nervous about the roof rails as I thought they might stand out a bit too much, but once they drew the black cover off the car I knew it was the right car for me.

I'm really impressed that the car looks so different just by changing rims or adding roof rails or changing colours. Park them all side by side and they look very different in my opinion. None of them look bad.

Performance-wise, the car is amazing but I don't have a lot to compare it too. Definitely louder and more gutsy than the Mk6 Golf R, but I only ever test-drove that. I'm coming from a Comfortline Mk5 Golf and there's really no comparison. You want to get around someone, in any gear, at any rev-range, at any speed, it just goes.

I feel that the only way to drive the car is in Sport mode with Dynamic selected. Anything else and the car isn't loud enough, the steering is too light and the gear ratio is very plain. Anything other than Sport/Dynamic feels like a Hyundai i30 (not really, but you get me). I can see why some journalists have remarked upon the car's inability to excite unless you're driving it hard. Fair call, but I find it suitable as a 'daily'.

What blows me away is Audi's quality and attention to detail on the interior. After studying endless photos of the car online and even spending a lot of time in A3s and S3s you still don't quite come to terms with the quality until you're sitting alone, quality in your driveway. Simple things like the feel of the on-off chrome air-vent dial as it clicks into place or the subtle lighting in the foot well.

*hopefully these images worked better this time

Quick note on the handling of the S3..

Gave it a proper thrashing in the last few days, and can only compare to the 8P S3 which were my last 2 cars, so any RWD or GT3 comments need not apply..

The car is simply a HUGE step up from the 8P chassis, the steering feel is excellent in comparison and the understeer is actually minimal, in fact the car actually has a tendency for the back end to kick out first then correct itself very quickly, very smile enducing!!

The grip is awesome even on my 19" extractor fans..

All in all i would say that the car has probably been given an unfair and bad reputation in the last few weeks with regards to what it can do, because if you can gain perspective as to what the car is (read: not an RS) - this car is immense!
