This is my first post on the forum so first off I would like to say Hi!

I recently purchased a Grey 2008 Audi A4 SE 2.0TDI 120. Great car and absolutely love it! Came with FASH, full years MOT, 4 new tyres, two owners from new (2nd being a woman) and I got it for good money.

When i bought the car i knew that there was a fault with passenger door lock. When you lock the car the passenger door will lock but when you unlock it the door won't open.

You can still open it from the inside and once you do that you can open it from the outside. But as soon as you lock and unlock it you can't open it from the outside again.

From reading some threads on forums I believe it is just the door lock. Is this a common problem with B8 A4's? Can I just buy a new lock from Audi and fit this? Or does it need coded to the other locks in anyway?

OK so I thought that was the only thing wrong with the car until a few days ago. I had the car valeted inside (wet vac on the seats) and two days later the seat belt light won't go off.

At first it was intermittent and if you unplugged driver seat belt and plugged it in it would go off but today it is just constantly on and the chime is quite annoying.

Could the wetness from the valet have damaged something in the seat? I checked the connectors under the seat and they are all fine.

I have read on some threads that the buckles can sometimes go? could this possibly be it?

Any help would be great. Thanks!!

Welcome to the site.

Check under the seat, maybe they've disturbed the seat belt warning connectors, if all connected, check for any water ingress.
It should just need the lock swopped over, shouldn't need any coding.

Thanks NHN

Yes checked the connectors, all seem to be fine. The connector that runs to the seat belt buckle, is this solely for the warning light and chime? Would it be possible to disconnect this to stop the chime until i find a permanent fix for this?

Great i will get lock off Audi before the weekend and fit it.

YES.....also anyone with vcds can disable the chime
Thanks NHN

So just an update.

Fitted the new lock over the weekend. And door works perfectly now.

Not a hard job to do if you have some DIY knowledge. Took me about an hour to do. (Just be careful when removing door card that you don't break any clips)

Disconnected the seat belt plug under the seat and no longer have the chime. A new seat belt plug off Audi is £54 which isn't too bad though I am quite liking not having the annoying chime so won't be in a rush to buy one.

Thanks for your replies and help with this!
