Central Locking Problem

Hi All

I've got a 59 plate Black Edition A3 and I'm having a problem with the central locking when inside the car.

If I lock the doors with the key fob, then all doors lock correctly.

Inside the car, if I press the central locking button on the drivers door, the drivers door will lock but the passengers door will not lock, and the light on the central locking button on the door does not light up.

If I'm inside the car, lock the doors with the key fob, put the keys in the ignition and start the car, then the light on the drivers door central locking button will light up, and all of the doors are locked.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how I could fix it so that all doors lock when I press the central locking button on the drivers door please?

Could be a few things, but I would 1st check the drivers door hinge rubber boot for any broken wires.

Seems the drivers door isn't sending signal to the systems internally from button/door module, but it receives signal fine from remote, which for me could point to wiring.

Thanks for the update. How would I check the drivers door hinge rubber boot for any broken wires please? Is it something that clips off or do I have to take the door panel off?

You need to squeeze the rubber boot inwards a bit or to the side & it should unclip to reveal the wires.

Hi,
I have an A3 Cab (09 reg). Just recently the passenger door began to not unlock when I press the key pad twice. If it does work (one in 12 unlock cycles) the auto locking doesn't happen once on the move.
Before I take it to Audi to run a check on it....is there anything I can check or try before going ?
I have replaced the key fob battery....
Any advice gratefully received
