Hi guys a week or so ago i went out and got myself a 2007 a3 s-line quattro but im not likeing the chrome grill on it.

Im just wondering what the best idea is for it. Its a dolphin grey audi so i think i want it in black. After some research i know im going to have to take off the front bumper to remove the grill to replace it or get it sprayed.

Now would the 2007 s3 grill fit as a direct replacement? as that would be a better option because ill most likely be taking my old one off anyway.

Don't know much about the A3's, but I have a Dolphin Grey A4, I used Anthracite carbon wrap to cover the chrome

No, the S3 grille is slightly shorter I think. It'll fit if I remember correctly, but you get a small gap at the bottom.

Ah so i should just keep mine then.....

Nice mac! Is that hard to do? Are your rings in dolphin grey?

Very easy to do fella, used a hairdryer to warm the vinyl. Yes the rings are Dolphin Grey

How long would you say to remove bumper wrap that then put it back in? Also did you remove the rings and then spray them?

I would say it took 15mins to remove bumper, 5 mins to separate the grille, I took my time wrapping to get it right so it took 40 mins.

I had a spare set of black rings so had my mate spray them.

Few different things you could do to the grill. You could buy a new one from FK Tuning, Vinyl wrap it as said, Plasti-Dip it or just spray it.

A lot of people go with Plasti-Dip as it's not that hard to apply and can be removed easily if needed.

Oettinger

Not cheap but good quality part and fits well. I had mine sprayed gloss black by a bodyshop.

Hmm ok cheers guys, not too sure on the oettinger one. Do you have a pic further back with it on so more of the car in the shot?

You got a link to the fk tuning website mate?

Lots of people have got them, they're well made & cheap! Obviously not OEM standard but one of the few bargain buys out there for the A3.

Here is a couple more pics of it. It definitely fits S-Line 100%. They just say it doesn't as the complete kit isn't suitable due to the rear spoiler not fitting an S-Line. All the other parts fit fine.

Oh my god that looks ****** gorgeous! Are they 19" rotors? Think i might have to go for that kit! Can i get a pic of the rear? :)

Please, please, please, it's a grille; unless you've got it in the oven, of course!:undwech:

I agree, it makes you wonder! Anyone have one of these ? Surely must just be cheap tat?

i have had one of these and for £30 incl postage there a bargain. Lots of members on here have them after I posted the link up a while back. If you wanted a black grill and didn't wanna pay silly money this is the grill to buy.

There are 2 different black versions available from FK right now for under £25, one in matt/satin black & one in gloss black, personally I've gone for the gloss black one as if it looks naff I can always plasticoat it to a matt/satin finish, whereas it would be an utter nightmare trying to spray one in gloss & get a good finish.

Can anyone help me with this. I have an MY09 S-line and want to change the front grill to the black edition version. Will this fK Automotive grill fit?

Yeah fk grille definitely fits an s-line cause I've have one on a previous 08 slime too, I went for the matte black. Did have to do anything too it other than fit it, think it was about £22, bargain mod

Thanks Andy
Can you remember what you had to do?

1 of the guys of here actually fitted for me. I was there though. Removed front bumper, in clipped the grille which seemed the most fiddly bit then clip the new one on. There is a thread on here for the fk grille, I'm sure

Thanks Andy
Will have a search.

Might have to invite you over for a cup of tea and biscuits 😊

That sounds like a plan when I'm up and running. I used the thread of here to remove my broke blue tooth module and refit a working one too. Was a bit of a chew but not too difficult. Are you putting it under the passenger seat or locating it else where?

The plan was to fit it under the seat if the cable is longer. I have read that sometimes the cable is just not long enough.

Might put the cable in first now and then connect it and get it coded once I get this module sorted.

a3 on year 58/09 was facelift so are you sure it still fits ?

58/09 grilles will not fit previous models, the A3 had a facelift during this period. The bumpers are different.

Sorry to confuse. I was just confirming they do fit s-line even with the site saying they don't.

No worries, if I was you, I'd get in on that group buy Broadster is organising for an RS3 grille. A bit more pricey to what you've been looking at but it's a genuine part and looks gorgeous.

S3 Honeycomb grill - RS3 look from RS6 grill | VAGOC.co.uk

Broadster's GB is very good, but it's just a bit to much for me at the moment. New tyres, alloy referb and the issues I'm having with the BT module 😡😡

I will return to this later in the year..

Thanks
