You are joking right? You can clearly see the paint has chipped off, I wouldn't be surprised if its dented as well. That done at a body shop will be 200ish and white is quite hard to match. It depends and some places may want to blend it in on the lower panel.

I agree there is a dent in the top of the window so that's going to cost to rectify, plus you are correct the paint has chipped, and ofcourse new glass will be required :(

Police will be getting back to me tomorrow so we will see what happens from there.

Fingers crossed what a great start to 2014 :(

Sorry to hear this matey, people in car parks can be right *******s.

Were they trying to break in or just vandalized it for the hell of it?

I have no idea,
Looks like they were trying to break in, But didn't put the window through.
Looks like they tried using a crowbar to pry it open or some sort and gave up 1/2 way. Maybe someone came and they legged it.
Surely they would of just tried smashing it? If they wanted to break in though?

So annoyed really hope I don't lose my no claims bonus because of this!!

Thats **** mate but for that i would not claim on the insurance just find a very good bodyshop as sometimes your excess is more but for the window it does not effect your premiums

If your no claims is protected you are generally allowed a couple of claims a year iirc.
If not protected, you go back to 0.
All for the sake of some little scrotes :(

as above take the hit and pay yourself

a claim will stay with you for 5 years and do your NCB no good

with protected NCB you still have to declare for 5 years
and if no protect then he will prob have a years plus this years took away if he had 5 years NCB they wont take all 5

Apparently they put pry the window out a bit that puts it under tension making it easier to smash.

This is what I came back to my car and found, the Sunday before Christmas.

I feel for both of you. Such a crappy thing to happen. Total and utter scum of the earth to do this to someones car.

Does anyone know, if I call my insurance company about making a claim, do I have an option to take the claim? Or pay for it myself?
Or is it when they know I have a smashed window its going to bite onto me and I have to take the claim and increase my premium? Are they going to rip me off basically?

Any information appreciated
Thanks
Will

I feel for you. This is just another reason why I'm saving for in car cameras.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

in car cameras? no use, they will probably steal those aswell

Thieving c**ts. It seems a lot of these scum get a kick from causing unnecessary damage to gain access, be it homes or vehicles. Was there anything left visible in the car or were they after RNS/Nav?
Really sorry to see this happen. Turds.

That is one nice car you have, so sad to see it like that though

Thanks guys,
Nope nothing was left visible in the car although I do have a double din day nav unit installed?
Just wondering if its safe to call the insurance to enquire about vandalism :/ might call as anonymous and ask

Rather than that, go on the website, read up from there, or your own paperwork.

Don't ring insurance company, until you have a quote for repair, as they record that data & some hold it on record & clients have got stung even though they didn't claim.

He speaks the truth. Been stung myself with that. Only ring if you intend to follow it up, Get quotes for doing it privately and weigh the options. The window replacement will make no difference to your premium as they do not register that as a claim

I was parked in a car park in Ashford this afternoon when some ignorate git opened his door on a 4x4 to get in and it struck my front passenger side door with an almighty bang. I got out of the car as he was reversing back and confronted him after banging on his window to get his attention.

He got rather aggressive as I had dared to bang on his window and then got a mouthful of abuse from the prat when I suggested he might want to wait until I had looked my door over. He couldn't see what he had done was wrong and seemed in a hurry to leave before I checked my car for damage so I took the key out of my pocket and held it against his car, not actually touching but he couldn't see that. He decided to let me check the car before leaving.

Luckily the impact was plastic on plastic so there was no visible marks... But thats not the point...

Eventually I got an apology from him but as it is the season of giving, I did manage to throw a full doggy poo bag in the back of his car when he wasnt looking.... (Had just been walking the dog who had done his bit and was in a bag waiting for disposal in a bin)

Hopefully he wont find that for a day or two.

W⚓!

Thanks for the reply guys,
Alright hopefully I can just make a claim for new glass then? Ill fix the other damages myself like the paint chip and rubber seal.
I assume that's what you mean? Whatever the case I don't want to raise my premium. I might just suck it it and take the hit :(

It's only a chip then and not a dent? Phew! Yes mate, I'd definitely fund it all yourself. Maybe even a used glass and rubber? Keep it off the books!

Looks like the rubber is dented to me, but there is a chance of a dent behind the rubber like someone used a screwdriver to wedge it open or something and shattered the glass trying

That's seriously crap to come back too. Thieving low life's, probably some dumb *** trying to prise the windows out thinking he can pop it out and make less noise over smashing it. Hope the police fine something but I think been realistic over that your probably going to have to suck it up and take the hit. With the insurance your already paying I wouldn't be calling them till last minute, take NHN's advise. Guessing you will have a pretty high excess so lay your options and prices on the table before you decide which to do.

The Police will do little more than reluctantly issue you a crime number as there's no possibility of catching the idiot. Obviously a scumbag looking to thieve and fund his drug habit or a boozed-up a**e with too much Dutch courage on-board?

Sadly, I've been on the receiving end myself and know it's a real heart-breaker.

Hope all goes well.., good luck!!:(

Police called me this evening and told me that there are no CCTV cameras installed even though on the ncp website says there are CCTV on every level!!!

They said there was nothing much they could do and will try their best to catch the person responsible (very slim) as no cameras were installed.

Oh well had a quote of £300 assuming that the panels are not dented behind the rubber seal where they have tried to pry out the window!

It's probably a "result" if you end-up with everything repaired and reinstated for £300? If you do it through insurance there will probably be an excess payment and, even if your NCB is protected, your premium will inevitably go up as you've had a claim. Probably best to pay cash and sort it yourself?

Bet you'd like to have caught the **** doing it..., but then of course the Police would've investigated the crime and done you for assault? You just can't win!!

Could you not complain to NCP and tell them thats false advertising?

try and get some of your loss back out of them, as its supposidly a secure carpark?

Just sent a long *** complaint email, lets see what they reply with.
If i dont hear from them by the end of next week, ill be calling them!!!

You could try getting in contact with the British Parking Association who are their regulatory body. Interestingly, I've just checked the BPA website and this NCP car park is listed on their ParkMark register for "Safer Parking" (ParkMark | Results).

Clearly, to state this facility has CCTV when it doesn't is misrepresentation and they have failed to provide a service for which you paid. You parked in good faith and entrusted your possession to them, they failed to meet their duty of care responsibilities. Get the BPA involved NOW and threaten legal action. Any hint of Watchdog's Anne Robinson scares the life out them too.

Give 'em hell and good luck!!:nunu:

Dont ever use NCP car parks. this happened to me also its too easy for these jerks in these places

I'd be questioning who knows there isn't cctv in certain places, a lucky crook or someone with a friend working there. I'd also be getting the police to look into any cars that entered the car park but left very soon after, ie; without having to even pay for an hour. Can't see a criminal walking in with the tools and also can't Imagine they hung around for long either, they must have cctv on the main gates to record cars entering and leaving.

Not sure about that. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to walk in off the street and pass a casual eye around for cameras, nor to realise that they're not likely to be both live monitored AND recorded. Also, NCPs are often used as cut-throughs so people walking in off the street wouldn't be that uncommon. Plus we all forget how brazen and bold these scumbags are.
Anyway none of this changes what's happened, and it's really crap. Basics I know but it boils my **** that some groups of our society just think it's ok to take other people's hard-earned things!

What toe rags! I do think PPs attract jealousy amongst some folks. Glad I don't like them, one less green eyed monster attraction.

On the car you may get away with a glass claim. I would also suggest hit and run rather than attempted theft. Also is your car Glacier? More expensive to make look good than Ibis.

Good luck
