Check your handbook but I think the BLB engine was an early revision so you should be ok?

you have a 2008 ?
but is it a B8 or B7 ?

the blb was in the b7

Hi Dave
Good news about the Audi purchase great move.
would you like to buy a Dog Guard??
Regards Tom

Hiya guys!

I'm new to this forum but from previous car I had major engine problems! Cost my ex a fortune! Proud owner of family hand down a3 s line now! Fingers crossed this one gets me to work! :sob:

just enjoy the car! you'll just get scared hearing stories here...........plenty of b8's on e-bay from 20k to 225k on the clock!.....im sure they all aint had issues.

Stories are stories, amount of "bullet proof" cars that get issues is hysterical. Would love to wish everyone a care free car trip but reality is the car may hiccup or owners might not service and look after the car.

keep car well maintained and serviced but its very common for the oil pumps to go around the 80k on B7 & B8 engine, they ironed most of the wrinckles out in 2010. Things to take into consideration was how much did you pay for the car? & has it got FSH? as these ive found are important when buying these models.
Hope this helps Tom

are you thinking of the pick up pipe blocking ?
as all audis have this problem if not serviced as should be
the OP is asking about the diesel oil pump drive as on the BLB engine ?

My b8 tdi just done 60k f.s.h just dun last oil change using genuine oil and filters.i used engine flush aswell, Mines 58 reg....drives/sounds mint!
Keep the car well serviced, dont think changing oil every 20k like some people do will do any good

Hello Dave,

Been thinking about you, spoke to my ex with regards to your new car. Our/his car had a few minor problems. He did have a a couple of recalls and had the issue's of having replaced: :thumbsup:Oil Pump, fuel pump, tandem pump, injectors, injector loom, cambelt and the problem still persists. I understand that every car has its own problems. Think we just had bad luck with one, however it wouldnt put me off.

hope this helps babe x

Totally agree vw754

love audi cars past and present, ive had a lot of different makes models etc. All had there own issues would never change from audi/vw.

yes the pick up pipes block if not serviced, but had probs on all engines upto 2010 with oil pump faults. looks like you bought a bad apple stacey, ive seen all them faults but not on the same car, unlucky. Totally agree with the with the love of Audi, every car has its faults at the end of the day.

Some will and some wont have issues........hope non of us do,when i see the high/very high mileage ones for sale on e-bay/autotrader it gives some hope lol

correct VW754, I hope we dont to, there is loads of hope for Audi's as aslong as you keep on top of the repairs & don't let them mount up you won't feel the hit in your pocket as much.

Hi Dave did you find what engine you had? I can give you more info on that particular engine if it narrowed down. Tom

haha, close, im a sanddancer (south shields) thanks for the welcome.:photo:

Hi All, the engine number is BRE 167769

Does this help? i think im just gonna change the oil pump and drive regardless, one less thing to worry about.

regards

It's not just the BLB that has problems all B7 2.0 TDI have potential balance shaft issue, with the shaft not being a perfect fit so can wear down and round off. Audi have changed the design of the shaft & pump. The BRE engine is affected and I would have the shaft inspected / replace for piece of mind.

I had this done to my BRE engine, the shaft in mine was worn not badly but worn, at some point it would of spun.

Took it to Sheffield, all new shaft and balance gear, now oil drive doesn't even cross my mind.

For peace of mind and a little investment now it can save a big head ache and massive expense later

I've done 55k in 9 mths in mine and never had many issues ,

The oil pump balance shaft issues that started with the early B7 BLB 2.0tdi engines are STILL to some extent in the B8 2.0tdi engine design. That said it would appear to be limited to those B8 engines made before late 2010 when Audi introduced their last oil pump/balance shaft design ( unless someone can advise otherwise?)
