Hiya guys, got a slight issue I've only had my audi 24 hours and love it although when I reverse park the sensors don't seem to work ? When I stick the car in reverse there's sometimes a long beep then when I come close to and object nothen ? Also I notice there's two switches on the drivers door just under the handle would these have anything to do with it ?

cheers for any replies

You when you engage reverse you should immediately hear a short beep to let you know the system is working, you shouldn't hear anything else until you get close to an object when you will hear the beeps getting more frequent right up to a continuous tone when you have about a foot to go before impact!

Unfortunately the sensors are prone to failure (just had 2 of mine replaced). What will happen if you have a fault somewhere is that the first time you engage reverse you will hear a longer tone and then nothing else. This is to tell you that it's not working. This will happen the first time you engage reverse each time the ignition is switched on.

If you turn on the ignition, but not the engine, put it in reverse and put your ear at each sensor you should hear a quiet buzzing sort of sound. A duff sensor won't buzz.

I got mine replaced under my RAC warranty so not sure of cost, if you've just bought it I would take it back and see about a partial refund, the fault on mine started out as intermittent so I would be surprised if the seller didn't know about this.

The switches on the door are to do with deactivating the alarm sensors.

Best of luck and happy New Year, apologies if this is a bit of a ramble, I'm still in recovery mode!

The long beep is to tell you that the sensors aren't working. Mine does the same but can be intermittent. Even found that they dont even show up on vcds, which leads me to think that the control unit is the problem. You will find the unit in the nsr quarter. I unplugged everthing and reconnected it which solved the problem. Could just be a bad connection. Worth a shot

Excellent guys cheers for that al go have a look now and see what I can see or hear, be ****** handy having the sensors working cause the a avants a big car to reverse ha.

Water ingress makes these go faulty usually, if you have the intermittent error, then you will have to swap them out sooner or later as it usually gets worse & whole system is useless then.

We often replace these for audi owners.

Mine haven't worked for a while now, sometimes it cant even be ***** to give the long beep lol. How much are the units?

Can confirm that mine didn't show up on the scan either but fortunately it was just the sensors, I'm guessing that the control unit would be more expensive. Did you get a warranty?

No ive had it 3 years now. Once i played with the connections, you could hear all the sensors working, so i just came to the conclusion that it was the unit.

I never got a warranty no cause I bought it privetly :(, guna try and get the the module today see if disconnecting it and reconnecting will help, I've listened to the sensors while the car is off and in revers and can hear one is not humming like he other three, so mabye a buggerd sensor.

Single sensors are about £94 from audi, then we have to order the paint kit which is £20 then spray, which takes few hours to paint/ lacquer layered & left to dry for a day, as if its not hardened when fitting, it will damage lacquer & paint.

I have the same problem on mine, i get the long beep, i will look at the controller but i put mine in reverse with handbrake on (auto box) and put my finger on each sensor. You feel a slight throbbing from the working sensors but obviously nothing from a dead sensor.
