Just put a deposit down on a sprint blue 2009 S3 which I'm going to see on Thursday, very excited as I'm going from a 2.0TDI A3 and have wanted an S3 since I bought that!

I was in contact with the garage as the pictures clearly show an induction kit so quizzed them on what modifications had been done, turns out along with the induction kit its got a full milltek exhaust, high pressure fuel pump and is running a shark performance stage 3 map at 330hp! Its also on 25mm lowering springs along with some wheel spacers to finish it off.

Used Audi S3 Hatchback S3 Quattro 5dr S Tronic in Stokesley, North Yorkshire | Darren Allick

Since that's quite the upgrade in performance it got me thinking if it happened to be anyone on here's car? With such a highly tuned car should I be concerned, is there anything I should look out for?

Thanks :)

That look's like the very one, I'm impressed how you found that so quick! I'll send him a PM to confirm :)

Yeah that is Nathan's S3 he loved it but i think he couldnt resist the sound of the S5 V8 :)

Yeah, the S3 was mine... Well done chaps... Haha

The car was my pride and joy, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it at all.... I just fell in love with the V8 S5

Ive vey told the OP to join my FB group (Audi S/RS Group) so I can easily give him all the info...

Can't wait to pick it up! Just need to find an insurance company that will touch a modified car and also a 21 year old, not an easy task it seems!

That'll be fun mate.... I had an XR2 when I was 21 haha... Wallet buster and constantly was pulled with the cops!... Where bouts in Glasgow are ya?

Fueling the thing is certainly going to be a wallet buster, will be a shock going from a 2.0TDI! I'm in Balloch, about 30 minutes outside of Glasgow.

Greenlight looked a good option but being a named driver to keep insurance costs low in the past have came back to bite me as they won't insure you unless you have at least 1 years no claims. Back to the drawing board...

If you can get someone to insure a 21 year old on a 330 hp s3 let me know please, as I had to wait to I was 25.

Surely you would check out the insurance before purchasing it? Getting insurance shouldn't be an issue if you have some no claims bonus. I was able to at 23 with admiral and then at 24 I renewed with sky insurance.

I'm 23 and mine (same spec as you but not modded) cost £900 with stage 3 software & supporting mods id be expecting closer to £2000 for someone 2 years younger than me....

so hang on you don't have any no claims bonus? My insurance was based on a good Cheshire postcode with 6 years of driving and 5 years ncb, and having my mrs as a the second driver (brings it down by about £600) All I can say is good luck!!

i have just turned 22 and i pay 800 to insure my sprint blue s3 mapped to 350hp dont know if its because i live in a low risk area its all i can assume

Admiral have a multi car policy with them so you get a little more discount and I pay it up front which helps keep the cost down

congrats on your purchase! im 21 have a stage 1 revo and greenlight insured me for £1100 with 4years no claims. they will probably be your only option? good luck!

I'm 22 with 4 years no claims on my sprint blue s3! I got insurance with Flux direct! Bit of a chew at first as they wanted a picture of the car in the garage and for me to sign a deceleration saying I won't exceed the 10k miles a year. But if I do to ring them. Also needed to send my license and everything of to them! But they where half price to the nearest! I pay £900!

Guys, give Sky a go. They are a site sponsor here and were spot on with my policy, they also have good knowledge of modified cars and were really helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, unfortunately with it being new years day all the insurance places are closed so will need to give Sky and Adrian Flux a ring before I leave to see it tomorrow. Cheapest I've got so far using the usual comparison sites is around £1500, so hopefully companies like Sky can beat it.

Is that with all the mods declared? Most comparison site ones start telling you to sod off when the cars got significant engine mods!

as above, i'm suprised you actually managed to get any quotes from comparison sites with all the mods

Could be worth also trying brentacre, worked out cheapest for me on my stage 1 S3 by a lot. I'm 23 with 5 year NCB and pay just under £500

I'll add that to the list to phone tomorrow! I've got it down to £1378 on confused.com, that's with the lowering springs, exhaust and engine mods all declared. This is with both my mum and dad on the policy as named drivers, that brings it down ALOT!

What engine mapping have you declared?

Stage 3 shark is quoted 350BHP+

Thats 85BHP over a standard S3. Most comp sites show it in stages 10%, 20% and anything above they usually bomb you out. Yours would be well above the 20% 350BHP is roughly 30% more power than a standard 265BHP S3….

That's allowing a 26% increase in power, so that should be good for 330-335hp. So bearing in mind quoted bhp figures are usually best case scenario (probably with upgraded intercooler along with other bits aswell) and I have no exact figure for what the power actually is, I thought that's perfectly reasonable?

Shows how easy it is to buy a modified car without actually knowing, and then insuring said car without knowing.

If you never asked they would never have told you, if you were the average joe you'd have insured this thing without any mods declared.

Shows how easy it is to get into a sticky situation.

I went with prestige insurance (site sponsor) with my A3, and got a half decent quote, only a bit more than lowest comparison site. But they dont charge any extra for MODS and remaps, which i took advantage of, and i think they even add on extra on your car value if written off

Also im 23, and with points on my license.

Im with Adrian Flux, they welcome modifications. You will of course pay a higher premium obviously..

The car was rolling roaded on very conservative rollers and ran 330bhp. 420lbft.

Dyno figures should always be taken with a pinch of salt but so should tuners claimed figures.

Shark stage 3 quote 350bhp.

Sounds alight then, you must be lucky with a good postcode ;)
