TQS progress thread, From STD-Scroll-Eliminator.

not got them yet, they are at Kevs still because he collected them from Ian for me to store them till Christmas is out of the way so couriers are back to being sensible.

The engine is still in bits and turbo broken and interior empty, Looks like a scrap car atm

All will be worth it Mark! It'll be back up together and running before you know it!! What are you doing turbo wise now?

TBH i am not sure, there has been mention of alternative units being tested or worst case, it'll have a t25 flange transplanted to the existing mani, the gtrs with it's new compact housing fitted and downpipe tweaked to suit the 5 bolt style fllange. One advantage of that will be oil and water lines will fit, as will current tip, but i'll still be mostly at the limit of it. If one of the other options comes to fruition there will be more scope for poowwaaarrrrr which will make greater use of my cams and LP head. Time will tell, i do however need something soon as the being without the car is killing us

get it on the ramp! everyone else has! :sign_omg:

on a lighter note what about a k03s? might have one on this replacement TT engine i may have bought

Nope, mine stays off as much as possible to allow a ramp to be available to make money for Bill, it gets booked in for ramp time around the paying work that is booked in

It's as much work to fit a transverse turbo in a proper quattro car as fitting a BT would be, thanks for the offer tho, stuff it on the Bay

i now what you mean about ramp time. want mine done asap.

if i can help i will, whats a k03s worth? dont really want it tbh as i'll stick the k04 on off the TT as its there.

you are aware you will be putting a 19mm rodded engine in where a 20mm one once was don't you?

Possibly a few hundred depending on condition of hotside etc. On Vag talk and the likes they always sell well

You didn't buy a 180 motor did you Marcus?... potentially the wrong one dude as Mark says :(

What engine code for the replacement motor?

<tuffty/>

i'll get the code...what engines have the 20mm rods? what HP will the 19mm take?

not a done deal, bu available next at weekend when im back.

throw an AGU lump in there and transfer all the BAM/AMK goodies over.

Or pop the head off the thing and see what's up

Turns out my IM shaft may have been a contributor to the noise or vibration also.

Seeing as it needed to be machined to clear the rod on number 4 due to me changing to DM Rifle drilled rods to eliminate that as a source of the noise. However the brutes i removed were perfect and have since been sold on as they were perfect, but i'd never relax until i had done everything in my power to fix it.

IM shaft after machining.

Before

Plenty of clearance now.

The replacement rods have a wider radius and just touch the lower edge of the bore . Back in the day the big sellers used to sell a different rod to suit an 058 engine. Sadly this is no longer the case. Brute or Scat ore drop in, everything else needs tweakage . Given the brute have just been removed...

The start of the clearancing

I will clean it up and and dummy build the engine as soon a s the new IM shaft bearings arrive from the US

Not as bad as they could have been.

I have bowed to peer pressure and this arrived in the post today.

Tbh when I say peer pressure I mean a huge change of circumstances has changed plans. Bill and Paul have gone out of their way to help me to get my car back on the road. I an deeply grateful to them and Dan at BBt for their help. Hopefully I can make some movement on it soon as space is becoming limited at the workshop .

I'm not sure why but I thought you had used a 06a for your stroker (lazy skim reading prob) who have you used for your machining work?

Some progress now the block is assembled and we can see what fits and doesn't.

Dp doesn't line up

adjustment required. DP was jigged into existing position to allow for modification without the car handy

my crazy mid port ports in adapter

inlets through phenolic

Thumbs up from Bill

Bill has worked his magic

DATA DATA DATA

seemed rude not to have a look t the ports

And the rest

Bill worked his DP tweaking magic

Ha ha.. what a welcome! I see you're still your jovial self.

The A4 is bolted back together (minus the front bumper) and was running nicely last weekend until the T.B. gave up.. luckily I have a spare to bolt on this weekend.

You done that Rover yet?

Yeah, it should be back on the road very soon all being well.

I won't hijack Mark's thread so I'll PM you soon mate.

She is in the hole but not bolted in fully yet, just in case stuff needs to move or be unbolted.

Issue with my catching n75 valve and breaking a pip off it

Bills magic Downpipe alignment

no tension required to line this up perfectly

std water feed won't work, so needs to be swapped to a banjo

a bit too close

charge pipe needs shortening and tweaking,It catches on the chassis strengthener/Boost pipe.

It could be rotated and re welded, but it;d touch on the TFSI N75 where it's mounted on the turbo.

So It could be a slight tweak to angle, followed by a shortening of the pipe. Add a 45 degree pipe of some kind to kick it up and backwards and I believe we are in the ball park.

It is further forward than before

Tip and DV need to adjusted.

I really want to keep the airbox so think an added 45 degree on the end on the MAF to the silicone would do it

I could throw an air filter in there i guess

DV stub will be fine with the addition of some pipes to charge pipe.

That bunged grommets from the plenum chamber causing it to flood over or a leak elsewhere?

I have not got a clue what any of your pics mean, I don't know enough, but it looks ace! :) Bet it feels good to be getting there.

Not scuttle drains, they are not even there any more, just gaping drain holes,LOL I need to have a look around, it does seem to be passenger rear. But i have a car full of engine bits so hard to look till i fit some, lol

So i sorted the leak, it was the ****** pollen filter housing, I dried it out and sealed the crap out of it.

I have got her running but have hit a few small snags.
One, the v band under the car leaks, probably because it was hosing down when i did it.
two, I chose to set the cam pulley a little bit retarded to see if it made a difference on the previous correction values, I think the 4 degrees I have altered it has just nipped it into correlation error mode, so I need to re set that.

And this hose gave up, and split.

I priced it up thinking it'd be a few quid, but now TPS want 60 quid for it. So for now it has been repaired to get the car working.

It seems Audi got around this issue by switching the hoses around on the turbo so the one furthest away from the engine fits to the block, this eliminates the tight turn

I have located a Rocker cover to get painted/coated, just need an Inlet manifold unledd i use the small port one for now on mine and get mine coated. A few members on here have offered me one to use to get coated so nay take them up on that.

Next step is to fit the bixenon projectors I got of egay and see if it improves the headlights as they are dangerous at speed even on HIDS
