Put the replacement headlights in, one sidelight bulb is dead, the other is doing a Morse Code impersonation.

One of the dipped beam Xenons also didn't come on initially on one switch on of the lights. Fed up today.

It already has one. The lights it had didn't have back covers and the wiring was butchered.

I've put it as close to a standard setup as I possibly could now. One of the HID ballasts has the full loom with it, the other doesn't and so I had to make a loom for the headlight wires to the ballast. Real ball ache.

Not actually been able to take it out since changing it! It's still struggling sometimes when starting though and cutting out so not sure what's responsible for that.... Hope fuel pump is OK!

I feel totally broken tonight. Should have been back on the road today and I am being held back by these lights. Took the flashing bulb out and swapped in a new LED. I now have no sidelight at either side. Swapped the other bulb too. No change.

I tested the main headlight connector and two pins are showing just under 14v with the car running, the two remaining pins show 0.09v and 0.03v. I don't know what they actually should be?

Actually, is it possible that the car doesn't like these led's somehow? I did also buy some regular 501 bulbs that I can try if need be, just didn't want to open them up and make them non returnable if possible.

Expect you have already tried this, but have you rotated the LEDs 180 degrees in the bulb holders? being diodes they only pass current in on direction.

1 of my LED bulbs didn't work due to this.

Quick 180 degree flip and it was sorted- hope yours is as easy OP

I think I tried but didn't make a difference. I will double check by doing it again this morning.

I don't need any of those fancy canbus compatible LED's for this car do I? These are just regular LED bulbs.

Just standard ones. The side lights are not connected to the bulb check module so no resistor needed.

I have had a problem with passenger side headlamp not coming on first attempt, I took out the battery and battery tray yesterday and cleaned/greased all earths under there, and the positive lead going from battery to starter.

Slow start and headlamp issues all sorted now! Worth a try mate.

Well I've fixed the lights! At least I think I have. Have to see if that dipped beam gives me anymore trouble going forward.

All these difficult DIY jobs have really come good now, as they have allowed me to gain the experience I needed to find the root cause of the sidelight issue.

The bulbs were indeed in the wrong way.....

Yea there are 2 earthing points under the battery tray, with 2 on each point.

Worth doing as bad earths can cause all sorts of strange problems.

At least the sidelights are working now!
