Somehow I have to sell my Scirocco, while having a car to get to work. Then get the train up to Leeds from London and pick up my new S3 :)

My s3 is build week 1 so next week!!

I'm going for 1st march pickup and have got my salesman to make sure I'm first to collect on the day in derby.

Won't be able to help myself but go up and see it beforehand though

What salesman in Leeds did you deal with? Jonathon?

Let me know if you want me to take a pic of your car when it arrives, i live a stones throw away from Leeds dealership!

Asda are based in Leeds too aren't they Johnny ;-)

Correct!

You seem to have a scary amount of knowledge about Asda...

Their HQ is literally 200 yards from my flat and Leeds Audi!

'Awaits generic exctractor fan wheel comment'

I used to like tractors when I was younger Johnny but not anymore.

Does that make me an ex tractor fan ? ;-)

Ahhh ok mine was built over a week ago now and am waiting for it to ship over to UK. Two ships arrived in Grimsby from Emden today so I'm hoping mine is on it, although I was hassling Audi cust service who said that they suspect it will be on a ship on 29th. So, I will speak to the dealer tomorrow, and then check for any ships coming over on 29th. Hopefully the buyer is coming to collect my Golf GTI tomorrow so it's working out well :)

Hey scott,
seems we did the same thing i sold my mk6 to purchase the new s3. My gti was chipped by revo stage 1 so i wasnt expecting to much a difference in performance due to horsepower, also my gti had the bilstein pss10 suspension and my new s3 came with the sport suspension. So i was also expecting a better performance from the gti.
Reality is that the grip u get from the s 3 is unpararelled, havent felt this sensation not coming from a racing cart, yes the s3 has more body roll the the bilstein equipped gti but its reactions are amazing and
its also very supple ( gti wasnt). On the other hand the 300 hp on the s3 are really felt the engine soundtrack is really a joy and 0 to 62 in 4.8 every time u attempt
it. Brakes much much better in feel and performance and the intirior is exquisite. And NO understeer ( which was my main concern when i bought the s3) unless ur doing something really silly.

im enjoying my car every second and the new chasis is also quite an improvemnt

There are loads of Monsoon Photos on Audi.co.uk used cars sections. Seems many of the launch cars were that colour.

You asked for Monsoon?

That's a great photo bjorn... It looks more like Daytona to me as I have found the Monsoon looks a lot duller in real life.

Your brand new car sitting in a dirty field for two months open to the elements without being washed once, then all the filth, bird crap being washed off a couple of days before you collect it by Audi's "specialist" cleaners..........you are a very brave man.
Take a paint gun with you so you can have a good look over it, although being black the swirls should be visible, but the excitement of getting your hands on your new car always takes over and I find you won't spot all blemishes until the first time you wash it and dry it by hand yourself, which will be too late.

I know you don't like the year 2013 and we've discussed this to death, but I still don't get this, much better off under your care, custody and control than leaving it untouched for so long.
You have been getting excited about this for ages, specced a car you want, will pay a lot of money for it, but will allow it to be mistreated for two whole months immediately after its arrived.

To me that's madness regardless of feelings about a reg plate or the perceived value from that reg plate - I'd never risk the car like that.

Why not let Audi deliver the car to the safety of your garage until 1 March if you are worried, or buy a car cover for them to use. In my experience cars sit in the compound covered in plastic and I have never had a problem Fortunately with my S3 being a week 4 build I don't think it's going to be hanging about for long. In addition I would urge people NOT to allow their new baby to be put in the showroom.. too many tyre kickers and sticky fingers will do more damage than a bit of weather!

It's not two months though is it? It's built next week and then is likely to be at the dealer mid to late jan, meaning 5-6 weeks. I'm also not concered about the paint because the transport shipping wrap it comes with from the factory is all over all upward facing panels and is left on until the Pdi process, which will be a week before I pick it up.

I've no doubt there will be swirls on it when I pick it up, I wouldn't expect it to be perfect to be honest after having lots of new cars before and always being disappointed with the dealer prep process.

I am toying with the idea of going up to the dealer a day or so before collection day and detailing it myself but I don't know if I want to spoil the surprise.

Obviously I'll be looking for bird lime marks on the lacquer but pretty much anything else I will be able to sort myself if needed.

Carlisle only offered me £900 off an S3 sportback 2 weeks back :( they let me walk away and order with another dealer!

Just finalised my order at Preston Audi , Darren is a great guy, I'd not buy off the other sales men if I'm honest, but even so, got £800 off a 37k S3SB........ That's nothing really.

It's been discussed before but 6-7% discount is easily available, although some have got 9%.

My car is build week 3, so arrives mid Feb and pick up March 1.

Getting quite excited.

Anyone having any insurance issues? I was amazed to find my insurance is going up by just £100.

On orange wheels you can get 3-4k off dealer supplied cars

I've had a quote for 400 quid per year, that's 30yr old full ncb no points no accidents left on the drive in wakefield (near Leeds)
Which personally isn't too bad up until turning 30 a couple of week ago the quotes were over 1k

Just come back from Wearside Audi. the Estoril blue one was still there. I wanted to see the differences between the amalfi white and glacier white and also i wanted to see a monsoon grey in person but they had no grey. (though i did spot one leaving the car park, an A3 Sline.
not going for white, and though i do like the look of the grey, seeing the Estoril blue in the flesh as it were I've made up my mind. I'm going for red.
haha no not really! i liked the misano red one they have in the car park too, but i think the Estoril looks special. I have a Laser Blue GTI at the moment and this colour is SOOOO much nicer. and i thought i loved my golf lol

got a quote too, and over 4 years the cost was more than I've been previously quoted from another garage (different group) at 3 years. over the same period it was £110 more per month! thats with £3500 of options. Best they could offer was a £500 contribution to the deposit if i paid £2500. To be fair i was expecting a discount of £0 from them anyway so came as no surprise. Every time I've been in there over the years they offer F-All. Yet they always seem to be thriving! Maybe people have more money than sense or can't be bothered to shop around.

Ive made up my mind on options too.

S3 SB S-Tronic
Estoril Crystal Blue
Technology Pack
LED Interior Pack
LED Headlights
Audi Sound System
Full Black leather silver stitching
Standard S3 Wheels

Hopefully i can get the deal finalised ASAFP but i think the salesman is off work at the mo.

Was it a 3 door S-line tdi? If so that was me, I was having a good look round as my Estoril blue is build week 6.

I went to the Audi dealership on Scotswood road and got a 8% discount.

yeah, you park next to mot bays? i thought scotswood road was the same group?

Need a bit of help as to what this may be...

Today and tonight i have noticed an intermittent smell of burning rubber in the cabin, it's only mild and not always there, and no i haven't been wheelspinning or doing doughnuts :)

Was wondering if it could be an oil issue?

Will see how i get on tomorrow but thought it was a little odd....popped the bonnet after the drive and couldn't really smell anything strong either...

Could it be the heating element in the heater?

Probably worth telling your dealership? I would ... Better safe than sorry.

Could be an element! I noticed the waft of the smell increase on corners through the air vent blowers...

Is the service department closed on Saturdays?

Usually open mornings only on Saturday, at least that's what it is at Cambridge audi. Try switching aircon fully off and see if it stops the smell then switch back in and see if it comes back? Maybe a duff element

Yeah will give that a try tomorrow!

Just checked oil level - halfway on dipstick after 3K miles..
