Hi all merry Christmas
I'm looking to put a later model steering wheel as an upgrade could someone advise the best place to get it fitted and which is the best suitable for for an A4 2002

many thanks:laugh:

Its not really advised to put a B7 wheel on a B6. The B7 has a duel stage airbag and the B6 has a single stage....

I was thinking about changing my 4 spoke vinyl for a 3 spoke leather steering wheel like the one fitted in a 130 sport. Is this a straight forward swop or are there issues reconfiguring the airbag system. Also if I found a cheap wheel without an airbag, would my current airbag fit into the 3 spoke?

I have a 3 spoke leather wheel from my 130 sport
It doesn't have a airbag with it
It's yours if you want it free
:)

As long as the wheel and bag is from a B6 there should be no problem.

Thanks for the advise but I could still fit a b7 wheel without an airbag?

Yes you could, you could still fit one with a dual stage air bag with a few modifications....and people have. However, they're not really that easy to test as to whether they'll work, so it's always a risk and whether you fancy risking driving without an air bag or not.

Not if you want to pass the MOT, if the tester doesn't see a wheel that looks like it has an airbag or if the airbag warning light is on those are grounds for an MOT failure.

As well as not having an airbag increasing the risk of the head of the nut behind the wheel meeting the head of the nut on the wheel in an accident - with painful (or worse) consequences.
