Avant - the strive for perfection

I don't think my wife will let me put it above the fire place! When it arrived I thought "I don't remeber bulk ordering parcel tape?"

Unwrapped!

So Turns out my air flap motor is goosed so temporarily removed and manually set to windscreen demister setting!

While I was at it I replaced my yellow interior bulbs with the new white led's I bought off t8ups on here. Pics are not great as taken with my phone but will give the idea:

One of each for contrast

Heater flap motor stashed for you…… could be tempted by those interior lights…. now, if it ever stops raining for a weekend or 2…..

Cheers buddy I'll get it off you at some point. Lights were dead easy took about 10mins in total. You can get a look at mine in real life at some point.

When I put some LED's in mine I didn't think they were as bright as the normal bulbs, are these ones really bright?

They seemed a lot brighter to me but it was during the day. I will let you know what I think in the dark tonight!

I found they didn't spread the light very well though, but like I say they were just the ones I had in my bora, not from the guy off here which is why I asked.

Try to take pics but didn't really work out. However they light the cabin up amazingly well. Quite expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

OK quick update.

First off loving the new led interiors. Really light the place up and are white rather than the kinda dull yellow they used to be.

Not got round to anything else yet but I've been thinking that as the 312mm brake carriers I bought came with callipers I would be as well to refurb them and clean paint them before I fit so....

Question 1: Where is the best place to get a seal kit for the callipers and is there anything else I should do while I am at it?

Question 2: In terms of painting I am leaning towards either black with white audi rings or silver with black rings? Any opinions or other fav colours?

Ok so black looks favourite (it was most likely in my eyes anyway) with or without white audi rings? More importantly any thoughts on seal kits?

Quick update guys.

The hid's are now fitted into the spare headlights along with led sides and chrome indicator bulbs. Waiting for the silicone to dry and hopefully get them on the car tomorrow morning.

Wheels booked in for a refurb!

312mm brakes stripped down and started cleaning them up ready for painting and seal kit ordered!

Progress is being made!

Another update:

Wheels dropped off for refurb with a little help from jbcalvin.

Hids fitted:

You said you'd never get round to remapping. I just did mine with a chinese mpps cable and a blacksmoke remap. Cost about £60 all in and took about 15mins. Ive now got 162bhp and its brilliant. Very easy to do.

Ralph its already had a remap up to about 170ish but if/when I replace the turbo with a bigger one its gonna need a new map to head towards 200!

Quick question. I know the rear bumpers on the saloon and avants are different but is it both sections or just the bottom section?

I would imagine both mate, as I know both parts are different on the Mk4.

Ok so loving the colour and finsh on my refurbed alloys. Only slight issue is that I am guessing the new finish is thicker than the old one as my centre caps now don't fit! Anyone ever had this before and if so how did you solve it?

Wheels looking good, I never had that issue when I had my BBS RC's powder coated but they were a screw in cap.

Looks like you have a busy weekend ahead.

Thanks paul!

Does anyone know what size the bolts are that hold the exhaust brackets onto the chassis?

I hope to drop the exhaust off mine next week to sell the bracket, I'll look at the bolts for you at the same time mate.

Lookin good Marky.

Brief update for today..... I am never trying to split the upper and lower rear bumper again!

I think it's temperature dependant.... when I took my original one off and fitted the twin outlet one (back in August) it was a lovely warm day and an easy job. But when I came to swap them back (to take yours off) in December it was a right ****** battle!

Cheers. Although it will look better once the 4 small holes are filled with parking sensors, the 2 big holes aee filled with exhaust tips and the lower is the same colour as the rest of the car. But hey I'm getting there. And it was probably more successful than your day yesterday!
