Is Audi providing any AMI cables when new cars are delivered? If so, which ones (e.g. iPod)?

The brochure and online documentation does not say anything, apart from the fact that we can connect iPods and USB devices.

Thanks,
S.

I got 2 cables - a red collared one for my iPhone and one with a USB socket.

I was going to use the brochure to blag cables if they weren't willing to give them to me, given that it says it supports all those devices and doesn't say anything about extra cables being required. As it happened I just gave the dealer the part numbers for the ones I wanted and he ordered them all and just gave them to me on delivery (5 in total).

I think 'standard' practice is to supply the USB + either blue or red collar Apple cables, depending on what apple devices you have. I have all 3 of those cables, plus the micro USB one and the 3.5mm jack one.

BTW, I have an iPhone5 with iOS7 and red cable and it is NOT recognised by AMI. The dealer says this is a known issue but I thought I'd read here recently that someone was happily running that combination. Oh well, SD cards for the time being...

That's the combination I'm running and works perfectly. Do you know anyone else that has ip5 with ios7 that you can try to see if it's your car or phone?

Interesting! My wife's 4S with iOS7 works so it's not the OS. I am using a genuine lightning adaptor too. Do you have tech pack? If not could that possibly be affecting things?

My iphone 5 with ios7 has to use the blue cable with an adapter. Red doesn't work for me

I just tried with the blue cable and the display just says "AMI is loading" forever. It doesn't actually say "unsupported" as it does with the red but seems stuck in limbo.

Yup I have the tech pack and an official connector. I would be tempted to do a restore on the phone and see if that helps. I don't know if there is a restore setting on the car, might be worth a look though.

What connector are you using to convert the 30pin to 5pin? There may be a problem with that?

Genuine from the Apple store so it's theoretically not a factor. It is an annoyance because I hate it when things don't work, but I have loaded up the "Jukebox" with all my favourite music so I'm happy enough. And because it's all FLAC I suspect it's sounding better than though the iPhone anyway so maybe a blessing in disguise.
My dealer has promised the lightning cable as soon as available so I'll see if that works, just as an intellectual exercise.

Can't believe audi still haven't produced an ami cable for the iphone 5!

Well, he iphone 5 port had only been out for a year, other devices now come with the lightning connector so audi should have something out by now!

Does anyone know if plugging in a genuine cable direct to USB would do the same job?

You mean the USB socket or though the AMI USB cable? I think the USB socket is just for charging as I can't make it appear as a source.

I have an ami cable that is a USB port. I was wondering if it was possible to plug that to the apple cable that's provided as my Chinese branded connector doesn't work

It is, it's the charging socket that comes with Phonebox or Audi Connect.

I meant through the Ami USB cable. I don't seem to have a socket

I got red and blue with the car.
Sent my red one to geefunk as I didn't need it and he didn't get one.

Are there any cables that charge your phone or are you stuffed if you don't have the phonebox (I don't) and have a Galaxy S3 with I think mini USB connector on the phone end.

S3 has a micro USB connector. You don't really see mini USB on phones.
