here are the runs I've done so far with lauch control : first one a bit downhill until 110 then a bit uphill, second was flat, last was a bit uphill. did someone try as well ?

Great. Love the Audi diesel quattro. Shame no manual in uk or I would be tempted.

Thanks for doing these. Not tried it - mine arrives in March! But looking like 0-100 in 6.8 is bang on the nail :) Do you have a method of measuring the 30-50 and 50-70 times (although I guess you could work it out from graphing those - /me opens excel...)?

Wow - impressive figures! I'm REALLY looking forward to getting my 184 Q in March. I too was v disappointed that there's no manual option, but having driven a couple of S tronics now, I am converted and think the S tronic is a better match to the engine, and so versatile; full auto or sport auto, (both with paddle override), manual shift with paddles, manual shift with stick AND more efficient AND quicker!!!

I'll let you open excel ^^ let us informed. If I have the time i'll try to make a graph as well
What did you use to measure?
Dynolicious, an app for the iphone. pocketdyno is good also for android users

By my reckoning, the data fits the curve secs = 0.001397 * mph^2 + 0.019262 * mph + 0.2577

Which gives:
0-30 = 2.09 secs
0-50 = 4.71 secs
0-70 = 8.45 secs

sooo...
30-50 : 2.62 secs
50-70 : 3.74 secs

Make of that what you will... :)

0-60 - 4.29 secs / 60 feet - 1.84 secs / 330 feet - 5.16 / Peak horsepower 277 / Data quality registered as best, Done in the WET!

If you can post the full data (i.e. secs for every 10km/h), I'll give you 30-50 and 50-70

Didn't go to 70mph but... 10mph - 0.73 / 20mph - 1.09 / 30mph - 1.72 / 40mph - 2.46 / 50mph - 3.29 / 60mph - 4.29

and those are gearbox ratios in a graph : (didn't have the time to do first gear yet)

Nice!

70 should be 5.44 secs.

30-50: 1.58 secs
50-70: 2.15 secs

The equation for 0-any mph is:

secs = 0.000714*mph^2 + 0.0219*mph + 0.416

I love the fact that with enouth power one could go up to 280+ kph with a diesel A3

Don't need to graph, just a single subtraction!

You are overcomplicating things! If you want the 30 - 50 time, just take the 0 - 30 time away from the 0 - 50 time, simple as that. Which exactly matches the results you posted above for the 30 - 50 and 50 - 70.

Nope. Those are in km/h so need to convert to mph first and the only way to do that is to figure out the equation that describes the acceleration as it's not a straight line....

Well, I would have had I had the 70mph figure, but I didn't.... the "Didn't go to 70mph but..." is the key giveaway....

Mine wasn't really pulling anymore than this on German autobahn.........

Feel free to post a picture showing more anyone, I must say though I had my mrs, 3 suitcases in the car plus coats, shoes etc as I was on a trip around Europe .

Be interested to see how the manual 184ps compares (although it does depend on how slick one is on the gear changes!). I certainly have had no complaints regards the power..

was this a 184 ? The 184 should be able of 230 at least

no way you can match the Stronic with launch control

I have had launch control for over 2 years. Used it a few times about 2 years ago ;) It's fiddley. Not for everyday use.

I often wonder how the car performs without launch control.

Is this the 150 or 184?

I'm right in thinking that's about 135mph...not bad for a diesel. Very similar to what I was able to get out of my old remapped 170

did one test again with launch control on a flat road :

0-20 km/h*0.65 s
0-40 km/h*1.59 s
0-60 km/h*2.82 s
0-80 km/h*4.57 s
0-100 km/h*6.55 s

60 Feet*2.12 @ 16.1 MPH
330 Feet*6.04 @ 58.1 MPH
1/8 Mile*9.34 @ 73.9 MPH
1000 Feet*12.27 @ 79.3 MPH

I just ordered a tuning box from DTUK, will see what this baby can do with it !

Sorry I missed this .......... Yeh mine is only the 150, the 184 wasn't available when I ordered the car.
I actually got it to 140mph on the speedo , needle speedometer 140 indicated but by the time my mrs got her phone out and took a pic it was at what it was at.

Also like I said above we had a good 100kg of luggage + me 95kg + mrs they don't tell you there weight..... So yeh not bad I suppose. Someone with the 184 needs to go to Germany and test it for us ;-)

well did it with the tuning box on map 3 plus on the WET !

0-20 km/h*0.76 s
0-40 km/h*1.58 s
0-60 km/h*2.59 s
0-80 km/h*4.11 s
0-100 km/h*5.82 s
0-120 km/h*8.31 s
0-140 km/h*11.01 s

60 Feet*1.92 @ 17.0 MPH
330 Feet*5.62 @ 61.0 MPH
1/8 Mile*8.79 @ 77.4 MPH
1000 Feet*11.52 @ 89.6 MPH
1/4 Mile*13.84 @ 95.2 MPH
400 Meters*13.78 @ 153.7 km/h

0-100 km/h*5.82 s
400 Meters*13.775s @ 153.7 KM/H
Top Speed*155.2 KM/H

So around a second off 0-62 (0-100km) then. Not bad! And that's in the wet....

What does it feel like with the box fitted compared to not fitted?

Well look at the 400m time and compare to other more powerful cars, you'll be surprised.

Remembers me of my old remapped S3. The same kick in the butt.

I have to do further testing though, because I also did a 6,1 and a 6,5 with the map.

Now I am running map 4 plus and It feels more powerful. Will have to try it.

I actually forgot something important, we were 2 in the car for those last tests.

Yeah that's a good indication though at with all the luggage etc you managed to get up to them speeds. Definitely a positive step forward for the diesel engine. Would be very interesting to see what the 184 can do, someone needs to get it on the autobahn so we can all see haha..

well definitely. fuel economy seems to be better but I have to investigate a bit more on that. just did 1 fill up, will wait for at least 2 before conclusions.

Power is good, did a bit of hillclimb yesterday and it actually feels quicker than my Lotus Elise

I am using map 4 + 2 at the moment

Would the 150 remap to the same values as the 184? Is it the same engine with different maps in the first place? I'm not really interested in doing it until the warranty has expired but may be something I look at in the future.

no it won't, not the same injectors, turbo etc

should be around 180-190 hp at the end

My coworker bought one for his A3 8V 150  and is really happy with it

What is the service schedule on the 184quattro, is it every 10k miles?
