The Complete Composite 8V S3 Thread

Not sure that would be a good idea. There are several S3 threads going at the moment and not all about the same thing. The only common thing is they are about the S3. If you are not interested in the S3 don't read those with S3 in the title.

When I was a moderator on here some years ago we discussed having a separate area for the S3 and A3 but decided that it was better to keep them together as a lot of what is discussed about the S3 also applies to the A3 and the other way round.

Yes but us A3 owners can still read them and get info, it would make no difference other than clean up the forum...

I agree cuke. There's no exclusion intended just a clean up.

I for one am highly interested in S3 stuff but not a great deal of interest in a 1.4 CODpiece. Good though it may be!!

Don't see any need for combining.

If the mods want to split it into sub-forums then that might be a better solution than combining all threads for a particular model into one.

Why don't we have one A3 thread and one S3 thread then

Because the S3 owners seem to take offence at A3 owners 'invading' their thread or posting in them, but not the other way around!

Since when do a few idiots owning S3s speak in the name of all s3 owners?

I for one own an s3 and don't mind a3 owners giving their 2cents.

Yes, I should say that seems to apply to a select few!

When we discussed it some time ago it was thought that A3 owners would probably not bother to look in at any S3 sub-forum and the other way round, so each group could well miss some things that were relevant to both. Personally I think it's better as it is and you only look at the threads you want to. It also stops any form of S3 snobbery that I have seen crepe in some other A3 forums. All forums are open to everyone. After all this is an 8V forum and own an 8P but this is a much more interesting forum. The 8P forum seems to be mostly people who are trying to 'improve' their A3 or turn it into something it's not.

And that's exactly as it should be. Anything to do with the 8v A3 on the same forum.

If anyone wants an S3 only forum, they do exist, but in my experence they are nowhere near as popular and with a lot less posts per week than any of the A3/S3 forums on Audi-Sport.net

It's nothing to do with invading space, childish remarks aren't really required. Again I have no problem in reading anyone's posts and certainly don't need to pigeon hole each member.

The comments were related to people slating someone's personal reasons and views on buying their S3. It seemed odd to jump in as it was targeted at a group. Rightly or wrongly it was a question specifically aimed at s3 purchasers

Get over it, really not a big deal, I'm just a bit surprised

Dont combine, its hard enough finding things on this forum as it is, never mind going through a single thread with 100+ pages!

Agree but separate sections maybe

8V general
S3 specific
A3 specific

But open to all.

I just think people need to not create threads that unnecessarily target any particular group, or not complain about it when others want to join the discussion. It's cliquey and unfriendly to outsiders looking to join the forum anyway.

Maybe it is the OCD in me as I hate to see unread posts, and I have this insatiable appetite for any A3 information. Thus I quite often find myself reading about S3 posts because they are there. Personally I'd find a separate thread on them a good thing and a way of tidying up what seems to me is a haphazard forum that seems to have posts that are either repeating themselves, or, if the person cared to actually search first, request the same information. There are a few that do seem exclusive too S3 owners too, and that is where the snobbery is creeping in.

I agree in principal but surely people with A3 COD for example will want to target others???? Little interest to me but....

That's exactly what was put forward before and rejected. All 8* in one simple forum is what works best for the majority of members.

I agree, much fairer and more sensible idea.

Ps I don't think anyone created specific threads to intentionally split owners

We don't need to introduce any form of "poor man's" devide. This forum is one community for all those interested in the 8V platform.

Well yes, of course there will be exceptions such as threads about specific engines etc, but for most of the S3 ones I've seen there was no need to target it that way
