Prawn and BigAls A3 Track Car

were those clips going through Eau Rouge in the rain taken with a Sony 7.2 megapixel handheld camera by any chance???.

you and that ****** camera

Currently watching back the ADI and Spa vids on the Tv reminding myself of a time when the sun came out and I could wear a T-shirt outdoors!

I am going to have to see this almighty camera one day lol

It's going to be parked up safe and sound Jim

its very much not an every day car, so no worries there. Could be interesting to use it as a plough though!

took it out for a spin last night / cold air - amazing for power, terrifying for grip on cold semi slicks :racer:

I managed to drive this right through the winter a couple of years ago, only real issue was having to empty the grill of snow regularly to stop it overheating

Car looks good as always Nick, nice to see some more shots from Spa too, looks like it was a great trip. Has the poor fiesta been replaced yet?

Cheers Robin. Fiesta is actually being repaired! waiting for a completion date now :)

So many plans and things to do over the winter on this, I need to get started on it soon!

here's a few pics I was tagged in recently from the Spiller Photography facebook page:

Forge Action day:

And one from back in summer at GTI International, not something you're likely to see again in a hurry

And just to balance out the pic of me about to drive in a straight line :)lazy:), here's an old vid of me driving in circles, because it's winter, and watching old vids back gives me some inspiration :)

And the rest. I didn't spend 6 hours working on your car today for you to post an over Instagramed picture of your brakes haha.

Why??? Lol. Honestly i dont know how you do it. Awesome thread yours mate.

Dude those brakes are awesome, info please like price, fitment, where from lol.

So what disc size are these or is it hush hush for a while? The sheer fact the last two set ups werent enough is pretty damn impressive!!

For now, these will be on 330 x 28 AP rotors which I also have, although this time on a fully floating centre bell, and running Pagid RS29 pads again which I absolutely loved.

In time, when replacement rotors are required, I'll have a measure up and see what's the absolute largest possible that can be fitted, which I'm expecting to be 343mm.

All hangs on the bells for now, then I'll sort out carriers once I have those :)

Nice!! I had someone offering me a full RS4 b7 brake kit, that fronts and rears for £1500 virtually brand new! But doubt they'd fit! Those ap's look sexy!

Calipers are AP CP5200 Dani, the same calipers Bill uses on the BadgerWagon, so I know I'm onto something decent here.

Fitment wise, it'll all be custom, I'm sorting out bells first, then when I have those I can get some carriers made up :)

So, yesterday everyones favourite Jardo came round to give the car a once over and get it clean and shiney and protected for winter.

No before pictures, because it looked like it does now, only more dirty, and less shiney.

He has done a cracking job though!

And one of the most noticable things from the clean, was the headlights, which were AWFUL.

Before:

After:

Top job jardo, thanks very much :)

Seeing as it's dark, I'm now off out for a drive to see what I can see!

Apparently when you clean cars you are meant to take pictures after it rains.

I'm not sure what these pictures mean, but Jardo requested them

Nice! IE are now doing AP kits. They look awesome and obviously being AP will be great quality. Not sure if the disks in their kit are floating or fixed 2 piece though. Decent weight saving either way.

The last few times I've driven it, in the freezing cold conditions, I've noticed that the AFR has been starting to head northwards.

No codes at all, and being a simple narrow band engine it has to be something mechanical causing it, I've checked FPR lines and all sorts and it seems fine, and up to about 5.6-6k it's bang on, then goes wayward at the top end.

I can only imagine that in the ultra cold air it's making more power on the road than it did when mapped and the injectors have reached their absolute limit.

It was 29 degrees in the dyno cel when we mapped it, and inlet temps ranged from 24-28 degrees with the meth on, in last nights cold conditions inlet temps were below 0 with the IAT sensor flat lined at 0 it was so cold most of the time, occasionally creeping up to 4 and 5 degrees but never more, so it's a plausible theory.

That however, isn't the issue!

I went out to do some more checking on fuelling, focusing largely on teh AFR display, and suddenly I started to feel cold.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - most strange. turn heater up.

Still cold. WTF? heater was blowing stone cold. argh.

Looked at teh temp needle, and sure enough, it was creeping up beyond 90. Climate 49 confirmed this with a temp of 109 degrees.

feck.

Just a mile from home I decided to try and gently limp it home, but as the temp reached 119 I bailled out of that idea and pulled over killing the engine.

I popped the bonnet, and used the last 3% of my phones battery power to light up the bay looking for issues.

EVERYTHING LOOKED SOAKING WET!

feck. again.

phone battery died. feck all I could do, so waited for it to cool then limped it the final half a mile home and got my torch out.

It wasn't wet at all, that shiney crap was infact Jardo's cleaning products from the weekend! haha.

You'll never believe where the ****** water had escaped though....

the fecking drain tap on the bottom of the rad was wide open!

God knows how, it's impossible that anyone could have reached it, but it was wide open and unscrewed!

I did the drain tap up, filled it with hot water, and it ran up to temp perfectly and didn't leak a drop.

proper mystery that one!

definitely blame jardo.

Obviously, it wasn't him that undid the tap, as that would mean reaching into the engine bay and getting his prada jumper dirty, but somehow I think he scared the tap open with his cleaning products.

It does smell like bubble gum still though, which i can only assume is down to the scented stuff he's sprayed on

I blame Jardo as well. Could not be bothered to walk 5 metres to the tap.

I blame Jardo's "cleaning products" dirty ******! Spraying his lovejuice all over the engine!

Boo :( At least it was an easy fix.

Mine's been drinking a liter of water every 30 miles or so, which I suspect's the crappy plastic fitting on the gearbox end of the head. It's overdue a re-think of the pipework sometime anyway.

it's OK, I went out for a 45 minute hoon last night and now I love it again, despite it's multiple flaws and suspension that rattles until it's warmed up

We should go out for a spin tonight.

AP rotors mounted up to Godspeed Bells, calipers all cleaned up and ready to go, just awaiting brackets now which are in hand :)

And perhaps another project if I ever find the time.....
