I think the b&o at over 6 grand is more impressive!

i also like the idea of double glazing too.

My old mans got power closing doors on his CL 63amg merc, such a cool feature!

Ceramic brake option + Full Leather interior alone cost more than my Sportback

If I had that sort of money of honestly not be able to choose between an S8, RS6 or R8. Still would be quite a cool problem to have!

The 5 series a friend of mine had came with the BMW version of the electric folding towbar. It's not that great - can't be operated from the cabin, you have to open the boot and hold a button in there until it's out (safety feature of some sort), and it's quite slow - I could fit my (manually) detachable towbar in the time it took for his to be extended, easily. Not great if you have to stand there in (eg) the rain with the boot open holding the button either!

Would maybe be worth it if you could operate it from the driver's seat though.

I don't anyone with a £150k S8 would be towing anything, least not a caravan!!

So what about THE most expensive spec of any car on the configurator then?

An R8 V10 Plus as a base I presume?

There are some pretty smart caravans out there and I'm sure the 8 would tow superbly... Haven't caravanned for many years but it can be great fun..

£145,705 Code ACBUTX3A. I had it at £147k but changed something and couldnt figure out what.
I think there should be a rule that if you want to tow a caravan it has to be with one of these.lol
Im sure Mr Clarkson would approve too.

did you know you can have a bulletproof A8 ? I guess that's the most expensive you can get from audi

I've never towed a caravan... only glider trailers

Yes, I have seen one down in Milton Keynes at the VW/AUDI national learning centre. It was some sort of special build for a dignitary visiting the country, Worth 500k. Added a hell of a lot of weight too.

The royal family have Audis these days, I expect they would make use of that... William has an A4 and Harry an A3 I think

I think it's more that a 520bhp v8 Audi isn't your stereotypical caravan puller, it's normally a Kia or something!

Agreed and many caravaners also seem to love PP's (have you noticed? ;-0 )

Glad you've finally picked up on the Royal connection.

I love these though, when I picked my car up at Stafford they had some sort of press event on and what was right behind me in black while waiting, I had a sit in and to be honest didn't really get it but then again if I was allowed to drive or start it I might have changed my story, you can pick older ones up for pennies on pistonheads etc but the maintenance might drive you to the poorhouse me thinks.

Shame they don't have the A8L security on the config, imagine what you could get one of those up to?

because someone with a £150K motor would be staying in 5 star hotels as a caravan wouldn't have enough room for a servants quarter. plus I think they would more likely have a motorhome of this ilk

The £1.2million motorhome with a state-of-the-art kitchen, luxury entertainment system¿ and storage for a supercar | Mail Online

Where did this idea come from that towbars are only used to tow caravans? I even said above that I don't! Anyway, I'd go camping regardless of how much money I have, I enjoy it.

I was joking - thought the servants quarter gave that away, clearly not

They are a pain in the a**e and should be allowed on the road at peak times.

I meant caravan owners, but BMW drivers come close sometimes too....

Out of interest I did a similar exercise the other evening with the A3. I just used the current October Pricing and Specification Guide and to the most expensive 'normal' A3 rather than an S3 - 2.0 TDI-184 Sportback S-Line s-tronic quattro at £30,550 and added all the options I could find. These added £16,460 to the price giving an overall price of £46,515. Rather a lot for an A3.

If you did the same with an S3 it would add a further £2,685 bring the total to £49,200.

When you consider I only paid £12,750 for my current house.... Mind you that was 37 years ago. My first Golf cost me £2,935 back in 1976.

my original bill for the final edition S8 was £85k, which is £117k in today's money... ouch...

only 67k miles and still being run for 0.68 pence per mile including nitro plus fuel... not too bad...
