Injector issues

Yet more problems with my pile of shyt.
After having a new head and all the other stuff done after our cam belt going, the garage tells me we need new injectors at £300 a pop.
Do the injectors get damaged when a cam belt goes on audi. The car is a a3 2007 2.0 tdi 170 bhp.
this is the worst car I have ever owned and when it's fixed will be glad to see the back of it.
 
170 engines are covered under an injector recall. Audi will process the claim if you take it to them....
 
Injectors have already been done on a recall. My question is, do the injectors get damaged when the came belt goes ?

No idea on the amount of damage that can occur - sorry.
 
if there not set up rite when putting the head on if there like the 140 injectors then yes they can broke when setting them up

not sure if the 170 inj get damaged when cam belt goes. you need to ask why they need replacing ?
 
The problems continue. After cam belt going 3 weeks ago, had recon head fitted,new cam kit and all the other jazz. Got the car back, and when driving it's fine until you put your foot down and it starts missing. So back the the garage, and they said injector number 2 needed replacing, so they replaced that and the car was still missing, so they replaced the other three as they'd said it upset the balance. Continued missing, then they told me they were given the wrong injectors. So they replace injector 2 again with the right injector, and it's still the same. So I rang audi and they said the garage have no idea what there doing, so I'm going to collect the car from the garage tomorrow and take it to audi to see if they can source the problem.
what a friggin joke this is turning out to be.
car drove perfect until cam belt going, now it's all messed up.
any one have any ideas what it could be ??
 
Yeovil, Somerset. Not sure what to do about the garage that's worked on it, I haven't paid them yet as I'm sure they have created a problem. Taking to audi in the morning to get there opinion, hopefully
 
I'm sure if the oil used is not correct then that can damage them and with it missing when you put your foot down sounds like a compression issue around your valves/springs.
I have seen it on a merc with a recon head after revving it up a couple of the valves would stick open. Turns out incorrect valve springs were used,
 
Update.
the garage that did the head and cam belt for me has now said they can't fix the above issues, so I have taken it away from them and taken it to audi, I have to now pay £200 for full diagnostic, they will then tell me what the issue is as nothing is showing up on audi computer.
as I will have to pay audi to now fix it, would you pay the other garage any money for what they have done, as I now have a car that is pretty much un drivable
 
Audi are saying they think from the test drive that it's a injector issue. But would you pay the previous garage for what they'd have done ? Bearing in mind I'm having to pay for it to be fixed and a car that will hopefully work :)
 
could be an injector issue ,even after a diagnostic if the injectors seem to be in spec ,unless they try a new set of injectors you'll still not know . audi won't try a new set unless you're paying for them first ,there not £300 each now there less than £200 each as so many have gone faulty.

tbh audi only have as much chance as a good indy to correct the fault . probably even less as if guided fault finding doesn't come up with some answers then the techs there will be left scratching there heads.
 
Friggin nightmare this car, running out of money to keep chucking at it. Since I've owned it, it's been of the road for nearly half the time.
should of got a ford ;-(
 
lol @ ford , don't go there you've just gone to the wrong people to sort it . a good indy garage would rectify the fault ,obviously not bothered about there reputation.
 
Any ideas as to how the injectors became damaged? Wtf is this they have to set up sh!t? Ive just slotted mine back where they came from with new seals on. Surely the ecu is still the same as before they were removed?

Also you should pay the garage mate (providing they are just mechanics and they didn't sell you the car)
 
the injectors can be damaged and so can the bores where they sit , they have to be levelled when tightening bolts or it can damage the bore hole for the injector and the injector seal , also if the bolt for the rocker above the injector is tightened up too much ,it damages the internals of the injector .

seen one only the other week in a caddy where the injector wasnt even tightened down properly ,damage was that bad the bore hole was left oval , cost of repair a new head .

Oh I see. I thought by set up it meant they needed 'programming' in something.
Mine are held in place by the fuel rail so I would hope I've put them in correctly.
 
if it was me I wouldn't pay um a penny . they didn't fix the problem.

You would think Audi would repair since it's been on recall already or cover most parts and labour costs with goodwill.
Hope it all plans out.

They've washed their hands of it so they shouldn't be getting a penny from you. In all truth, If it turns out it's their doing, you should be taking Audi's final invoice to them for reimbursement.

The **** from the first garage messed up the injectors, used the stretch bolts twice or more, instead of once only, used the seals twice or more, some bolts were only done up just over hand tight,no bolts were torque tightened. Joker.
so audi have fixed it at a cost of £436, there going to service the gearbox tomorrow for fixed price £149, feeling happy again and will be happy to get it back.

Good news mate. If that's the case then fair play, don't pay the first garage anything.
You going to keep it now?
 
It's our dream car to own, it's been off the road more than on, cost me a fortune to get fixed,but I love the look of it, and when it's on form it's the dogs nuts to drive.
so I'm going to say yes I will keep it, and fingers crossed it won't let us down.

Glad you have the car sorted the place you took it too first sounds like a load of cowboys. Very shoddy work no wonder it wasn't running correctly.
