Next step was air and all about that. So i decided to instal air box. I searched and wonderin 'what to install and finally decides to install NEUSPEED AIR BOX kit for vag 1.8 turbo engines. Ok, this is not exactly airbox like a box more like a barrier but I knew that and I had intended to do some upgrade. I've been looking for quite some time and finally I was able to find one so i was immediately contacted the seller who sent me a box by mail. So i get this "air box" from second hand which was built in golf IV ...

... plate and small filter was used but large filter was brand new. When the box is sold was without a large filter but the seller was kind enough to buy a new and send me a complete kit for the same price - not many such a good people.
Of course not everything went pretty smoothly. This air box was not the best fit in the engine compartment of the audi so it was necessary to change a few things - move the whole box of 2 cm further away from the engine. I cut the bottom holder and welded to another place ...

You have got some very good skills Sir and everything is so well documented and pictured.

Keep up the great modding/maintenance - you're slowly inspiring me to get my rear in gear and do some 'proper' work myself on the old girl! lol

Those tie bars look OEM+

...ordered were two meters in length and internal diameter 3,4,5 and 8 mm. The seller made a mistake and sent me the red color hose 8mm which in the end turned out that i did not even need ... lol ... anyway the seller apollogized to me for mistake and sent the blue tube at his own expense...

I am about to do this myself soon, but I wasnt sure which sizes I need and how much length. If I understand you right I will need around 1.5 meters of 3,4, and 5 mm internal diameter hoses?
My car is a 2001 AMK engined...but i beleive those hoses are pretty much the same.

to CazzaVR - thats why we are so different because people have different skills I'm sure that you have other skills - thx mate

to Sidey - thank you

to [Dave B] - i get them in some motobike shop

to badger5 - chears mate :beerchug:

to Chlippo - yep you can take 1.5 meters of each you mentioned and yes they are pretty much the same AMK have even less those tubes

... Then I did something that most of you will not like. I know that this mirrors is a kind of icon of car but i just dont like chrome mirrors whether original or what kind of upgrade. So I was very happy when i exchange mirrors with my friend who bought my ex S there was non chrome mirrors on and also one was small but he bought another bigger and brought me a set of three mirrors. I could paint chrome mirrors but I didnt wanna "destroy" them so I replaced it with a friend that he wanted - so mirrors for mirrors and everyone was satisfied ... of course I immediately terminated them ...

Great thread and car mate. How did you get the DEPO's to work? Ive only found the Halogen ones, and the S3 has xenon as standard. Ive been looking for facelift headlights for my car, but OEM's are like 1000£ :s There's a shop nearby who sells the depo for around 150£, but they told me they wouldnt fit my car cause i have Xenons..

I've always wondered about the strength implications of having the adjustment for the tie bars in the middle. Would either end would be better strength wise? Regardless, nice work. I wish I had the space and tools!

the installation has been completed, gauges work well if you do not consider that the sensor for the oil pressure was sucks (i was not even surprised when you get a kit for a only 35 € - gauge and sensor). It is worth to buy and install something like that - not even close. For the money you will spent for everytning you need to install these gauges you can buy this

Loving this thread well done :D.

Got a quick question for you is it easy to take the centre caps apart? (i dont want to break anything :S)

As i want to get my wheel refurbished but want them to look standard but slightly different ;) so colour coding the centre caps seems like a good idea

Any advise would helpful

I went to a local audi dealer for new protective film but does not exist, no code, no pics, as it was never up :noway:

... so I did it myself from this. Not so thick but is better than nothing, but you can also use double protective film

the following issue was the lower strip on the door
4d2ac2037ddd643c76c39a86cc22bb7f93ed14a6p.jpg

Whereas the new strip was expensive - (267 € by local audi dealer) - I have decided that I will try to fix that strip. Can not look worse but if will look worse i would still go and buy new one. So i bought some special glue - 11 €

Of course its not as it should be this is because it is already "inflated" strip due to oxidation in it - i aware there is no other solution like to buy a new strip but it looks much better now then befor and currently satisfies me that compared with the price of new strip :)
