2013 Audi S3

lol not my intention and merely my opinion as ive seen all the colours on a S3. Im sure others will have differing opinions as red isn't for the faint hearted and those that don't want to stand out too much

Wasn't having a go, I was having a laugh!

I don't think I'd turn away any of the non-exclusive colours that the s3 comes in, just have a favourite of many good colours.

Misano looks sick with a sunroof!

3500 mile in and just realised that the centre arm rest slides forward which is really comfortable! Thanks to my daughter who found out by putting her feet up on it from in the back - THANKS FOR DISCOVERING THAT BUT NOW PUT YOUR FEET DOWN!!!!!!

Oh, finally tried launch mode. That's fun. I was reluctant at first out of respect for my new car but curiosity got the better of me. The initial pull away sinks your stomach which feels good from the drivers position and I'm sure quite sickening as a passenger. I would recommend giving it a go, perhaps not at the traffic lights as you may look a little stupid after you've selected dynamic, disabled stability, left foot on brake, right on accelerator etc and the car next to you had already gone ha ha.

I wouldn't do launch control from the lights either, might be a bit embarrassing at a 2 lane junction and whilst you are sat there with launch control on and then the fuzz just happen to pull a long side:blush:

Maybe what I should have said is I am getting bored with all this superficial stuff ... S3 is a great product .

In my opinion it is best in SB form in a Phantom Black with Tech pack Pano roof B&O and various other bits... No Asda extractor fan wheels no 'poser plates'.

We all are free to express our views and hopefully this forum will educate and make people think what is best .

But please don't think too much or my spec will become the default option and life will recall become ... Yawn..., boring. ;-)

I'm lucky, Nottingham have both crystal colours there in the flesh right now. Blue and Black.

The Estoril is in the showroom and even with those lights it really doesn't 'pop' as much as I'd want it too. It's just too dark blue for me.

Have to agree with Estoril but I think it looks fine under certain amount of light. I liked the reds and glacier white. I went for misano which looking at most dealers is quite a wild colour and most audi colours these days seem quite understated which is no bad thing. For me though I wanted a red car. Who knows next week I might change my mind, lol

That was exactly my opinion & why I changed from Estoril to Panther, I expected Estoril to be more vivid when I saw it.

same here re: estoril. A bit odd as looked fine in pics but when I saw one in the flesh it didn't pop out. Good if want a stealth car though

I'm not entirely sure but the reviews I've read indicate that the whomph is an s tronic only feature.

my test drive was two days in a manual, a fantastic car of course, the stronic was my preference due to my intended use for the car, however I confirm the sound on up shift is certainly enhanced on the stronic.

revs between down shift too when in dynamic.

I wouldn't ever criticize someone for leaving an S3 standard. They are a good car 'out of the box' yes but I own a tuning company?! This is what we do for a living so I'm hardly going to leave our demo car standard am I? :) If you're happy with 300 BHP in a relatively heavy car then that is absolutely fine with me :)

I can't wait for you to see my PP in all its glory haha :)

A piece of equipment I never use as stated. Go on the 8P/8L sections and ask how many have removed the rear wiper. Most won't have granted but a hell of a lot have done. All my mods are declared so you don't need to worry about that, I've had that mod declared on a few cars and it has never been questioned, it is probably more popular than you think. I may well leave it if it doesn't annoy me too much when it arrives but I don't see the big deal if I take it off.

Agreed, ive had a few modded cars and always declared. Worked in a claims dept as a first job at 17 (hated it so left after 2 months, best decision ever) and they will look for reasons to not pay out. if its modded and you havent declared it they wont pay out and could report you too. It doesn't always add much to your premium, just steer clear of the big names as they are clueless - stick with specialists.

I am tempted to up the power on the s3 but id need to know the impact on the warranty and if the upgrade can be easily removed. Also, presumably upping the power would need a suspension/brake upgrade too (on my old cars ive always done that before any power upgrades, some people I know didn't which is partly why they ended up in hedges). Then again, I guess it depends on quality of the standard brake/suspension.

The same dealer had an A2 in white for £8995 a few years ago and it never sold, they ended up using it as mobile advertising with their name up both sides. It wasn't even proper white either, it was a wrap and badly done too.

I thought the whole idea of a wrap was so you could remove it. Unless, it was hiding something.

amusing to think that people consider the s3 has just 300bhp - 10 years ago that would a supercar

Very true, the S3 performance on paper is rather impressive, its performance must beat many an older supercar, but we are now in an age when hypercars exist and fast is really fast. Not really a sportscar and certainly not a supercar, but its certainly a very nice hotter than most hot hatch.

Few more pix after a wash:

SEATS!
Has anyone here got the standard S3 seats? It seems I may be the only person on this forum, or indeed the world/universe who has been a cheap skate and stuck with the standard seats and blow the extra on B&O? I would be very keen to see some pics if so. I realise they are the same seats as the ones in part-red (just without the red bits) but still keen to see them.

On the cheap-skate scale between 1 and 100 where do I fall? Answers on a post card please!

I've gone standard but I wanted a light interior more than sports seats. Lunar silver alcantara I've gone for :)

I chose the standard s3 seats cause i dont like the look of the super sport ones and i wanted fully electric seats so couldnt go with the supersport ones for that reason also.

Really - cool look forward to see what they look light. Do you get a different stitching option with the light seats or is is still silver?

Your problem is that you can't help but try to insult people - yet again you talk about "poser plates", why? I don't think your spec will become default either, not everyone likes black, not a bad colour but not everyone's taste. If someone likes different alloys, why continue to call them "asda" alloys, why not accept their taste, every time you take the opportunity to have a dig at people time and time again. My plate isn't for posing, I like it, simple as that, so why not stop insulting people, is it really that difficult? People don't take the **** out of your obsession with phantom black so don't take the **** out of people for having their personal preferences.

I'm ordering my car with standard seats, not because I don't want them but I want all the other options I've already specced and have just added crystal paint too. I have to draw the line somewhere and that is the SSS and LED headlights that are missed off for me.

Same as me then, those 2 options I had to leave off but I think I may regret it after a while. The LED lights defo make the front of the car a little nicer perhaps and the super sports seats do look like king cobras which is pretty awesomeness! Of well, best get saving for my next car ha!

I agree totally but I just think of the nice things that I have put on the spec. Adaptive cruise, crystal paint, lane assist, adaptive xenons, tech pack with connect, b&o etc etc.

Just read back on some of the comments over the past few days. Shame this forum is getting a bit "ranty" its full of many helpful opinions and help from people who are big time S3 enthusiasts, shame people take things so seriously but hey! Just realised this is a bit of a rant, what a hypocrite haha!

I ordered Misano, saw it in the flesh and was happy with it. But, ever since I couldn't get glacier out of my head so have changed my order to glacier now, I keep cars for 4 years so it's got to be right! Think it looks great in both, lines show up well too, tough call!

Come on Giles Everyone refers to them as poser plates ( don't they ?) chill out mate... I am not insulting people I am expressing an opinion about things that do not matter.. Thinking of changing to Red to go with my dislike of Tories ;-)
