Planning the handover - what to ask for?

I reckon the boat sank.....

Don't joke about this......

Remember (or Google) a ship transporting cars sank in the English Channel late 2002? At the time my A3 had come over only a few days earlier. Frantic call to dealer to confirm whether my car was on it or already in the country....

How very strange! I'm also from St.Neots!

I met and had a talk with Lee in June and he seemed quite hard to move on price, drives an SQ5 I think now.

I could possibly go to Germany although the South of France and the Alps sound a bit more 'me'!

When you get your car we will have to meet up in some way. I would love to see it.

I am just wondering as it is my first car and this might sound stupid but .. Do they come with the standard carpet mats or do they not come with any mats at all?

Na no mats, no indicator stalk, no rear windscreen wiper and no front driver side tyre.

They do give you the pieces though, along with some glue and assembly instructions ;)

i thought it was just BMW's that didn't come with indicators....

Cheers haha ! Silly question to ask I take it? Only that my moms a3 cabriolet never came with mats and had to ask dealer to throw them in ? Just making sure it does that's all :)

No such thing as a silly question mate. I'm just yanking your chain. I wasn't even sure myself!

Mats come as standard but no S-Line logo on them.

The door sills, steering wheel and gear levers have logos though.

John.

Thanks John, much appreciated and did you have to ask your dealer then Paul lol?

I highly recommend asking for rubber mats, i threw my normal mats in a corner and am loving the rubber ones. They're very useful in the kinda weather we're getting.

How do the rubber ones look? Do they just make the car look like a tractor or are they stylish?

I got the dealer to chuck a set of these in on collection day too along with a boot liner.

They are an absolute must in this weather, my originals are sitting indoors keeping nice and clean while the rubber ones are getting abused ;)

Lol of course the obligatory bottle of bubbly but no flowers. However we did get food, live music, a magician, and a pair of 63 cup cakes ;) lol

Already got a full tank of fuel for when i collect mine and an umbrella, will definitely push for all the MMI cables, not sure on anything else maybe a keyring.

I would just be gracious and accept what if anything you get.
You don't expect the salesman to ask for more money, the coat off your back and the pen in your pocket, why should he give you anything more than you agreed before you shook hands on the deal?

Because you are spending a large amount of money with them, and Audi are a premium band who you would expect to go a bit further than others?

Surely they have already done that by building you that premium car on a contract you have agreed?

Had a Phantom 5 with what they called Star Silver Valcona soft leather in 2008. Looked great BUT always needed to carry leather cleaner with us as denim plays havoc.. Nice though.

Yep, but it's them who want your business at the end of the day, and them who are interested in keeping you coming back. I don't see what's wrong with 'taking advantage' of that a bit and getting a bit more out of it.

After spending say 30K on a car a few trinkets and the end of the deal would not make me use a dealer again.
I'm more interested in overall good customer service for the live of the car, thats what would make me go back......

Its one of these dont ask, dont get scenarios if a dealer is willing to give you some stuff for free, never turn that down, everybody's different, some will just take what there given and some will push for extras at better prices and dig for free stuff.
Some people are just always looking for a better deal and for them to come off on top. If they do its a bonus.
I personally am certainly gonna scrape the bucket because i know it can be done.

I'd asked for a few bits but wasn't really expecting any as the reply to my e-mail came back with prices.

On the day, however, they threw in a boot liner, full set of rubber mats and an A3 key ring.

Si.

we got 2 free tanks of fuel and everytime we went to get the fuel paid, audi washed and hoovered the Q7

i got a free tax disc holder just for asking for a service once haha on a 2005 A4

Can I just ask which broker sites have you guys used to get good discounts? I've used carwow and only getting around 6% discount on an A3 184 S line.

Try drivethedeal - it seems to be the most popular one and usually has decent discounts.

Why not just go down to your local dealer and ask. First dealer I asked gave 5%. Then only called another and emidiately got 750£ extra. And the end I went to the second and said "If we can find a good price, ill sign right now" - ended up with about 11,3% discount

Coming back to the original topics, I remember reading on a similar thread that someone had asked for their plates to be stuck on rather than screwed on. I originally thought that would be a good idea but when I went to see the car the rep pointed out that there are already screw holes predrilled on the tailgate and that the front mounting would only necessitate drilling into the plastic bumper. Anyone else got any thoughts on this?
