Starting to buy the parts for the k04 conversion.. Injectors??

i used mine as a daily no problems but the standard K04 would die quick with 360

cant seem to grasp the dv flange, does the diverter no longer bolt to the turbo housing like the k03?

the hybrid is made for more power yes
no the DV no longer needs relocating to either hot or cold side
i go cold side.

I got just short of 340ps with a non hybrid and standard intercoolers. Worth doing that first? Then go hybrid and updated rods etc for bigger power. Get it built! :)

K04 doesn't incorporate the DV valve so you need to tap into the charge pipe and the inlet pipe. Or you can use the forge item and let it vent to air. I used the std piston DV and the housing from an S3

Tapped into the charge pipe and then tapped into the inlet for recirc. Hope that helps

Thats a massive help thanks :) does it make a difference that I'm running the forge diverter valve? (Not the standard replacement or spacer)

i've used the flange and use forge item, but welded it onto my coldside boost pipe near the throttle body and recirc the air back into the TIP

i've had mine done at turbo dynamics, they were also able to replicate my custom outlet so makes it easier to fit the the A4 and was only £50 extra

hoping to get mine bolted up today if i can source some new engine mounts

AET have never let me down and they done quite a few for me

Thanks for all your advise, but due to driving a Mitsubishi evo 8 fq340 yesterday, I'm now selling up lol.

Turbo is forsale in classifieds. Thanks again peeps :)

Good choice
but its still not an audi

Very true mate, love the quality of the Audi, nothing will compare in that respect.

After threatening to buy an evo, I decided I love m audi too much. So... With that in mind I've out myself back on track with the k04 build. This time it's happening! :)

heres the first major step for me, APR stage 3 endurance clutch and light weight single mass fly wheel. £970 delivered. Will handle 475 ft/lbs of torque, mechanic charged me £100 to fit (audi master tech) so smiles all round :)

I know mate, he's an Audi master tech aswell. Used to work with him about 5 years ago, I did a lot of paintwork for him free of charge, in return I asked for a reliable mechanic at a good price. So he's done everything for me. Did the chain on the back of the engine for £150. Only thing is,I have to work around him. But that I can live with quite happily. If your in Leeds I can give you his number :)

may have a few bits for sale soon, got my Turbo dynamics hybrid K04 that cost me £1500 sat in the shed, also custom 3" TIP / CAI and K03 / K04 Decat and Milltek down pipe

depending on how and when mapping goes may have set of 3K mile S3 injectors

How much ya thinking for the turbo and downpipe mate? Pm me when ya get 5 mins

And the decat? Im buying a k04 and some injectors, plus the s3 flange, but I'm definitely interested in everything you have. Sleep on a price and give me a shout :)

Back on track! Dropped the k04 I with turbo clinic in Leeds today. After an hours descussion we decided that instead of just giving a hybrid make over to the k04, we would machine the k03s cold side turbo inlet to the same size of the the new hybrid compressor, this meaning a direct replacement for the k03s but a longitudinal friendly k04 :) at £720 inc vat I thought it would be worth a shot! The injectors are ready along with the s3 flange. Just need an intake pipe with a modified charge pipe ready to connect the DV flange, which is already using the forge diverter. And we ready to visit APR for stage 2+ with hpfp. This should also work nicely with the bsr Optiflow induction. :)

heres some updates

Just a couple of update pictures to keep the thread moving!! :)

Thought I would add a couple of subtle touches, after all, it won't be a DTM look a like.

I want this thread to be different in the fact that it is a Special Edition and everyone seems to go down the DTM road.

"Sleeper" I believe is the appropriate term :)

Check out the before and afters....

APR stage 3 endurance clutch and lightweight single mass flywheel installed (consists of southbend Kevlar clutch plate and flywheel, plus Sachs pressure plate and thrust bearing) with a few in depth pictures from my very reliable mechanic. 2 1/5 hours later and she was ready for collection. After ringing APR and consulting a few reliable members on here, I've nursed it for 500 miles, with no over revving and quick changes and I must say... What an incredible difference! I'm starting to run out if road before it starts backing off even with a standard map and k03. For any enthusiastic driver, this is a worthy investment. Transformed the car! So here's some pics! I'm hoping the next time I post on this thread will be the collection of the hybrid k04 :)

Full flat and polish done. Products for full detail arriving this week. Things don't just stop while waiting for the parts to arrive! But unfortunately this is job that demands time and money. Apology s for the delay. I realise some are keen to see the finished product. But believe me, I'm way more keen than you lol! :) please be patient. I promise I will give you the end product! Stay tuned!

APR carbonio installed! What can I say other than WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!
The bsr Optiflow had seriouse low end air starvation... Zero spool up and just general lack of response. Although it sounded well, it's not a patch on this! Paying the remainder for the turbo tomorrow so should have it for the end of the month ( worth the wait )
decided to sell the S3 injectors and buy the RS4 injectors instead. Atleast that way I know it will supply the maps demands!
Excited much! The finished product is near!!

iv always used the S3 injectors
as was told by a few tuners that the RS4 were a diffrent spray pattern and not as good as the S3

and yes the carbonio is worth the extra cash
looks good and the sound on full boost is very nice

thanks bez, that could change things, I was under the impression that the RS4 injectors could meet a higher demand than the S3? Take it this isn't true? Do you think I should stick with the S3....
yeah it does sound sweet under load, can't wait to hear the sound with a juicy K04 hybrid

iv always been told the s3 are better so never used the rs4
whos mapping for you ?
could always ask jbs etc

im going with APR.
there gonna do a custom map for the hybrid. They've not specified nothing more than S3, but with the custom map I only wana visit them once with them being in Milton Keynes. It's gonna be with them 3 days as it is. I literally want them to push it as far as it will go, but coz I have the cruise control, ther also gonna supply a S3 ish standard map for every day driving

Well I picked up the hybrid k04 on Thursday! So once my custom FMIC pipes are welded, we're ready for installation and mapping! Rods will be fitted first tho. Then we can push it as far as possible! Here's some pics of the turbo. The old cartridge is the dirty one :)

Off to see someone this weekend to get the piping ready for welding. Just need a few samco hoses and a couple of minor parts and were ready to fit tue k04 and map! Rods are waiting till new year, just gonna put a safe custom map on for the time being, gives me chance to find any problems before pushing it a little further! Not long now!!

Well its official.... Its booked in with rick @ unicorn developments on saturday the 9th of november... Hes happy we will see atleast 360bhp and 370ft/lbs without pushing it beyond its limits, although hes seen many go through with more power and hasnt seen a rod give just yet... But i think we will play it safe and not be greedy. Also it will come with launch control and flat shift features and the option to immobilise the car. For good measure and days of bad weather and also when the wife wants a drive... Were having the option of a more sensible map of 260 bhp and just less than 300 lbs/ft. Costs no more to have it so mite aswell take advantage. I will report back with pictures of all the fitting and the final print out from the rolling road ;)

Unfortunately due to clutch failure, my car will be going for a new clutch (supplied under warranty from APR) tomorrow, instead of seeing rick @ unicorn developments :(
But its not all doom and gloom.... Gonna have my mechanic put my full milltek on from de cat back while hes under there :)
Ive paid the deposit to rick so the software is ready, just need my silicone hoses from samco and were rocking. Hopefully early december if all goes to plan. :)
