Hello everyone, just purchased a 57 plate S3 yesterday

The car is pretty basic in terms of factory extra's but the exterior is immaculate and the car has only done 35k

Just have a few queries

[1] has anyone got a link to all the factory extras on an S3? perhaps i could get them done in the future...
[2] Multi Function Steering wheel - how much would this cost to purchase & install?
[3] Navigation System - same as above...

thanks alot for your help!

Joe

WOW! 35k on the clock, that's amazing... congrats mate :)

  • Not sure about S3 extras :(
  • Well a decent multifunction steering wheel would cost you around 250 quid without airbag (I recently bought one about 220)
  • You wont need a steering wheel airbag as perhaps you could use your current one :)
  • Latest RNS-Es, 2013s are around 420 on eBay, from a power seller though! I've already been looking into this and will buy once I'm done with my S3 conversion :moa:

Hope it helps :)

Joe, contact site sponsor NHN for prices on mfsw and navigation. He supplies and installs these and does travel. Where are you located? :) x

No worries sure, will let you know, last night one ended about 100 quid on eBay! Absolutely bargain!
What's yours, DSG or manual

Well for fitting I'll get Nigel, NHN to fit mine probably sometime in December or most likely next year January :) as I'm currently ran out of money :(

I live in London too, W3, where are you about in London?
Perhaps we could arrange the same time for Nigel as it would be easier for him too..

Flat bottomed steering wheels are practically worthless without the airbag, thats how that 1's gone so cheap.. believe it or not, the airbag is the most expensive part and for a full flat-bottom steering wheel your looking about the £400-£500 just for the wheel without fitting... if you have the normal sline steering wheel then your airbag will not fit as its a different shape... better to buy the complete unit..

as for extras there are loads, depends on really what your looking for....

im in central but moving soon.

will see what kind of quotes nigel gives first. the funds will need to be raised, ha :)

Jacko
my current wheel is just a normal one (none flat bottom)
so you recommend that i just buy the whole unit plus the air bag?

in regards to the extras, im not sure what exactly is available you see.
i guess Sat nav/Steering wheel/ parking sensors will be first...

Yeah mate, buy the complete unit... theres 1 on ebay the now for buy it now £375 complete unit... thats the sline flat bottom, and the only difference is the badge at the bottom from the s3...

I know a lot of guys install after market parkings sensors and theres loads of threads on it mate.... sat nav... I find the rnse to be rubbish, misses out loads of streets that been there for yrs! but its still prob the best option for the oem look... but if your buying the unit from scratch go for the mk2 version... costs a bit more, but its a lot better..... I'd imagine your looking at very little change out of 1k for they extras you mentioned if your lucky.... and thats without fitting... the rnse is just plug and play though...

Thanks alot for your help, much appreciated.
will go for the mk2 model if thats the case, cheers.
apart from the sat nav itself, are there any benefits in regards to sound quality? i.e. sound tweeks etc etc

yeh, i was expecting that price to be honest.
perhaps ill send nigel an email and get some quotes, he seems reliable by what people say

any other extras you'd recommend?

I've got the bose system and thats the business... Its not the loudest system i've had, but its crystal clear and well worth the change if you can get a hold of the parts... again not cheap though... I'm sure its just the amp, subwoofer and speakers you need.. it should run off the standard loom if youve already got the subwoofer and things... its in the boot on the left-hand side if you wanna check.. play some music and feel the thump lol....

Theres honestly loads fella, just all depends on what your looking for as I said..... could be here all day listing them, but I think youve covered all the important 1's in my view...

lol, what, the S3 has a subwoofer? nice.

unfortunately it didnt come with the bose system, so doubt the sub is there.

Generally the sub is there with the other OEM systems mate... so 'd bet theres a pretty good chance your car has 1 too

great stuff.
will check as soon as the car's delivered

AUDI S-LINE A3,A4,A5,A6,TTRS,RS3,RS4 Multifunction Flat Bottom With Airbag | eBay

Good price I guess but bear in mind that's cash on collection only! And I guess it would cost you about 60 quid worth of fuel to collect it in person!

I've got a few quotes for brand new airbag around 228 to 250, depends where you want it from, Germany or UK, so if you get yourself an immaculate FBSW fro around 200 and airbag for around 250 top, that would cost you 450 in total, probably the same cost as a used FBSW, and there are loads on eBay for that price! So I guess you better buy the complete unit as Jacko suggested! :)

Here is some good ones;
Genuine AUDI Multifunction Flat Bottom Steering Wheel A3 A4 A5 A6 TT Q7 | eBay

But again bear in mind that you would only get the normal FBSW for that price and not the stitched special/black edition ones which you could find on S3 black editions or TTS etc. I guess

Mine was 250 and I knocked it to 220, it's a TTS with white stitches, I just need to change the badge and get a brand new airbag and sorted!
Here is mine; hope you could distinguish the difference between normal ones and the ones with stitches :)
