My new phantom black S3 sportback has arrived at my dealer, but Audi have built it with Luna silver seats instead of black, and it looks terrible.

The dealer was very apologetic and has ordered me a new one. After such a wait for it I am obviously disappointed, but the current plan is to take this one and literally just swap cars over when the new (hopefully right one) is ready.

Has anyone else experienced such a mistake, and what would you do if it happened to you?

Ouch! What a PITA.

Take it, thrash it then swap it for your proper P&J when it arrives and consider this one as free miles and wear and tear.

Oh and haggle some extras in the next one for the inconvienience!

There was someone on here with the exact same issue, had a quick search but could not find the thread, but if I remember correctly the dealer ordered replacement seats but not a whole car.

Yep, it was myself. Had ordered my A3 with blue seats but on collection day I noticed it was grey/black. Eventually they found another car with the correct colour seats and just swapped the seats.
At first they said they would have to order the fabric and changed them but that would have been a nightmare to do.

i think they will just swap the seats round right, instead of replacing the car as it would involve registering the car.

Does it affect the whole interior scheme, or just the seats?

Sorry to hear, but having a new S3 for few months and then getting another new one you like better which is 3-4 months newer and not cost you a penny is not so bad is it ? It will cost the dealers / Audi a fair few grand just because of one simple mistake.
i think that is fairly generous as a second hand 3-4 month old S3 must devalue it quite a bit (depreciation you would have had to pay for)
Not ideal, but just think of the upside and enjoy.

could have been worst and been in beluga brown !

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1384989685160345 apologies for the poor photo but yes, the side panels, door handles, arm rest, part of the centre console in the footrest are all light grey.

So hence the new vehicle....not just a change of seats.
Gutted for you, but your new one should be a 14 plater :)

I see, not really a simple swap then with the arm rest and sides need changing.

Wow, that does look awful :(

There's probably someone somewhere else saying "I've been waiting for my Phantom Black S3 with luna and they've assembled it with black - it looks terrible."

Hope the replacement comes quickly!!

Probably arad! I am laughing about it now, and I shouldn't grumble about having an S3 while waiting for an S3. Seats aside, the car is awesome.

Sorry to hear... When you order something but you get something else. :sadlike:
But I do like those lunar seats! Looks more "luxury" and a little different than plain boring black/grey.
That of course is my opinion

Hmm, not convinced. Looks as tasteless as having white leather sofas in the living room.

Well... as I said it's about "opinion".
:)

Had an A5 in Phantom with Star Silver, not my order but looked stunning! I would probably accept it with a big discount! The interior of the S3 in black without a pan roof can look very dark. Silver just lightens it. It is also not white and nothing like a sofa!!

Agreed, and do every long journey that you need to do before you get the replacement.

Indeed, and never said as such. Just that it is as tasteless as.

In your opinion of course.
I have ordered PB with Black as I prefer it to silver but Silver is actually quite nice to live with as I did for nearly 3 years.

Of course my opinion. If we all had the same tastes this would be a very boring forum! :p

If we have to go around stating when something is our opinion every time it's going to get very boring very quickly! Take it as read that when someone posts something about options, it's their opinion, and it'll make things a lot easier...

I quite like the look of that - white on black but it's a shame they don't offer a dark red leather - now that WOULD be nice.

My dealer ordered my S4 without the specified Super Sport Seats, they wanted to change them obviously I refused. I rejected the car and told them to re order which they did without question.

I'm impressed that they let you use the car while another one is built to the right spec rather than jus change the seats, armrest and door panels. It can't be that big a job can it?

edit: Sorry, just seen that it's also other parts of the interior trim. Still surprised that it would be such a big job as to warrant building a whole new car though. Not that I don't think that you're perfectly within your rights to expect them to. Just assumed it would be an easy fix.

If they are letting you use the car and will swap the car for a new build when it arrives then this is pretty generous.

Pretty much free motoring, I would just make sure that the finance is corectly setup so you dont get stung with moving finance twice start stop costs etc.

Depending on the mix up I would eiter ask for a good discount, and if its sommething I couldnt live with, and I think those seats would be on that list, then a free car for the wait would be ok.

We had 'whiplash red' seats in a 2008 Phantom Black TT . Looked awesome.

Oh no - how disappointing for you. At least they are seemingly being generous with resolving it in that way.
A spec mistake is something that I sometimes worry about when thinking of my order . I queried my order sheet 3 times with the salesman as it had something like black/black/lunar/black written on it. I was assured it was just the stitching colour! But I ordered the super sports seats and am fairly sure they only come in black.
