Build Date vs Delivery Date??

Hi Guys,

Car started getting built yesterday!

When is it you find out your delivery date??

also in peoples experience how long does it take from the build date to actually getting the car?

I'm hoping mine will be here before christmas!! possible do you think?

It's normally around 2-3 weeks from the end of the build week that it arrives at the dealers. The dealer can track when it is built, when it arrives by train at Emden in North Germany, when it is loaded on to the ship and when it arrives in the UK port that serves your dealer. It depends on the dealer location which UK port it arrives at but there are the car carrying ships that back and forth between Germany and the UK every couple of days.
 
cheers Dave, hopefully it should arrive before christmas then going by that! lets just hope its not snowing when I pick it up!

I hope it IS snowing when I pick mine up! Might as well test Quattro sooner rather than later. ;)
 
haha lucky you!! if I had quattro I would want that to but I couldnt afford that :( lol
 
Where are you based? I am using Hatfield Audi and Tilbury port so it would be interesting to compare dates for arrival in UK, arrival at dealer and actual collection date.

mine was built week before last as is due to dealer any day now (hoped it would come last week but didn't)
The salesman said once they have it it would only take 2-3 days to turnaround so we can pick it up.
which is going to total up to about 3 weeks from build week.

He said they need the space a.s.a.p. as can get up to 2 transporters a day at the moment which is about 16 ? cars on a busy day !
it amazed me as must to knocking on for £500,000 worth of brand new cars coming in on a busy delivery day !!!

so you should get it 1 - 2 weeks before Christmas (snow allowing :cold:)

I'm in Newcastle. keep me posted and I will do same. Not sure which port mine would get delivered to.

Let's just hope the snow lays off for at least a couple of weeks!

Dont fancy driving the car for the first time in the snow lol :think:

If your dealer is in the same area it will be Tyne. Audi uses three ports in the UK. Sheerness for the South and South West, Grimsby for the East and Midlands and Tyne for the North and Scotland. If you look at the website MarineTraffic.com you will be able to see what ships are arriving from Emden in Germany and when. The mostly use vessels from the KESS Car carrying line.

cool, so my car will probably be on a transporter from sheerness (today hopefully)!
I assumed would be Southampton, but was just a complete guess.

Thanks for the correction. My brain was saying Sheerness but I typed Tilbury.

Mine is exactly the same as yours snakehips.. Apart from mine is going to port of Grimsby :) do you'll now what delivery rtlr means?
 
Grant how did your's take so long? Just realised your order date was June!

And not sure buddy, when I ordered my estimated build week was 47 and then I amended my order to add on the sound system it went to week 50 but fortunately it's come back to 47 ! Most people on here we're averaging between 4-6 months wait I had heard. It's been a very long time though :(

feel sorry for ya mate! BUT the wait is nearly over!

do you think we will find out our delivery date at the end of the week?
 
I have a collection date of the 2nd December. My build week was 45 which was w/c 4th November. I'd say it is roughly one calendar month from the Monday of the week it's built.

Thanks Jonny ! Appreciate it haha. I'm not sure but if I haven't had an email by Saturday off my dealer.. I'll definitely be pestering Sunday for an update but if you get on well with the sales guy he usually keeps you updated!

haha no problem! :) yeah think I will be doing the same! I'm on good terms with mine and known him for a few years so hopefully I wont need to but you never know!

Also the same.. My parents had there's off the same sales guy and he sorted us all out good deals so that is why we keep using him :) being my first brand new car, I'm a lot more inpatient than my parents lol! And also being quite young makes it just even more exciting ! But yes will keep you posted when I hear anything. Same goes for you :)

it makes the experience much better when you have a good sales guy! you dont get all the bull **** and lies! lol

this is my first factory order to my spec! I have A1 which was brand new but was already built so couldnt spec it any further.

looking forward to actually having a sort of customised car :)

fingers crossed a few more days till updates!!
 
Just got a email telling me my car has entered the "first build process". Would it be a couple of days to complete?
I feel like an expectant father!

hahaha I'm no father but I'd treat it like my baby lol your quite lucky you have had an email stating that. peace of mind its actually getting built. I'm just guessing that its stuck to the plan of getting built on 18th! hope it has!
 
Sure does Jonny ! And I have no email as of yet but also haven't had a exact day of when it was getting built. Also is that 10 hours from entering start of production line to end?

Never knew that! Thanks for the heads up though. Would be good if you could see a video of your actual car being built and going through each individual step!

who was the email off buddy? Your dealer or audi?
 
Might drop my dealer an email and see of it's entered the line yet :)

Think I might do the same! I thought when it said build week 47 it meant started to get built on the Monday of week 47 but doesnt sound to be the case!

Knowing my luck it will be Friday of week 47 haha
 
I've emailed my dealer ! Will let you know the outcome :) also I thought the same as you, start on the Monday and get finished on the Thursday and go out on Friday for train!
 
Dealer sent me a screen shot and it now says comm status is now 3 and has comission in productior! Assuming that means it's in production?

sounds like it mate! I've just had an email from my dealer today saying that it is still in production and he will let me know when complete! I really hope I find out end of this week / start of next.

This waiting is harder then I thought!
 
That's good news! Sounds like there all in production! By sounds of things they will all be off on the train together towards the end of this week then ! Fingers crossed
