hi all just letting you know that the pigs are having a crack down on the german font pressed plate with the D badge on them i was minding my own business last evening driving down the motorway back from manchester when the c..t of a copper pulled me said my headlights were to bright what a p…k i said there xenon just like most cars these days and for my trouble he gave me a fixed penalty of £100 ****ER so just be warned people there out for us !!!!!!

If they are illegal then he was doing his job.

Anything other than the standard size and font wont be picked up on the APNR so wont be detected on speed camera's and bridge camers if your car is ever stolen.

Some are, some arent.

If you have pressed plates with the correct UK font, and are displaying the correct (or no) country code, there is no problem.

If you have plates with some non-standard font (pressed or otherwise), be it german or Comic Sans, or are displaying some incorrect country code, or have incorrect spacing then ofcourse they are illegal.

Some are, some arent.

If you have pressed plates with the correct UK font, and are displaying the correct (or no) country code, there is no problem.

If you have plates with some non-standard font (pressed or otherwise), be it german or Comic Sans, or are displaying some incorrect country code, or have incorrect spacing then ofcourse they are illegal.

But pressed plates arnt made of a 'reflex-reflecting material;' and never will be.

I've had legal pressed plates for over a year now. Size, font, colour etc are ally o legal requirements. Laser etched dealer details along with the standard road legal markings.

As as long as people don't take the Pi$$ then there is nothing wrong.

but they arnt legal because they are not a 'reflex-reflecting material' lol

And also, even if someone says they are legal, eg MOST suppliers, when you get pulled over (probably never) but it will be on YOUR back and not the supplier of the plate.
Maybe you can open up a court case afterwards but, your choice lol.

It's pressed plates only here in Australia I'd rather have plastic though. They're made out of coke can thickness so bend really easily.

Legal plates should have a british standard approval mark.

PS you can get a ticket if your lights are causing undue dazzle, best course of action is to bite your tongue and remain polite, any smart comment often runs the risk of a fpt, when you think about it how many cars, particularly with mods, are strictly 100 percent legal, the RTA and Rv Con and Use manuals are like a stack of phone books containing 1000s of 'offences'. Usually crap mind you but ticketable none the less if you run into the 'wrong' cop or even antagonise an OK one.

If you feel that you've been wrongly charged just ignore the ticket and have your day in court.

Is a 'non endoresable' ticket up to £100 now?

That "back of a standard plate" is a sticker. Its stuck to the piece of clear acrylic with the letters sandwiched in between.

So if you can stick it to a piece of clear acrylic and it becomes reflective, why cant you stick it to a piece of metal?

Afterall, thats exactly what a roadsign is isnt it? a big sheet of steel, with a reflective sticker applied and then the letters stuck on top.
