A3 S line delivery date¿?

I ordered mine on the 21st August, Build date: 18th November (4 days!!!!)

Dealer says should arrive mid December or just before christmas! I've used the same sales guy a few times and he is always telling me the truth but dont want to get my hopes up!!

My order is in my spec.

anyone think getting it before christmas is unlikely??

How would you know if it was stock or factory? The salesman could just say that it's factory when in fact it's stock just sat there waiting to be sold??

Just assumed it was a factory order as i got an e-mail from Audi stating that car had entered build phase :) Unless they are in cahoots with the dealer.

I think you have just been in the right place at the right time for both yourself and the dealer.

Your dealer would have already had agreed allocated build slots with Audi, these are defined at start of the business year, and the dealer has to take these cars otherwise they get penalised financially on future allocations. So if they loose a buyer at short notice they will still take the car and it becomes stock they need to off load ASAP as it ties in working capital and effects the dealers bottom line.

i susupect your dealer had someone pull out of a sale i nth elast couple of weeks and therefore had a car being built with no buyer lined up until you came along hence your quick expected delivery.

A similar thing happened to me with my focus. The build date was estimated at some eight weeks from point of order. However the salesperson rang me to say that the car would be ready in 4 weeks because there was a stock build that hadn't been assigned to anyone that had the same spec as my order.

Did you not want a new one from factory?

Just had an e-mail from Audi saying that my car has arrived at the Port of Emden :)

Any idea what sort of timeframe i'd be looking at for delivery from this point?

Kind regards,

Si.

Build week Monday for a few of us ! bring it on

If a dealership was penalised financially for losing a build slot would they then give that slot to another dealership, as did happen in my case? I'm not sure that, if this is the case, they would do so...

I ordered my car in the first week of July and was told to expect delivery towards the end of September or beginning of October. I then got a build Week 42 (W/B 14th October) but apparently there is a problem at the factory in Hungary where the saloon is made and despite the car being started in Week 42, it only left the factory on Monday and reached the Port of Emden yesterday so not expecting to get it on the road before 1st December. If it was going to be much later than that I would wait and get it registered as a 2014 car.

Am sure a dealer told me they get a bonus point towards their sales target for filling a cancelled slot as an incentive to fill it.

Hi, I'm not sure that's the same as what my salesperson told me. He said he found a slot that another dealership hadn't filled at that point then rang that dealer to see if he could have it. I'm not sure another dealership would take a financial hit then give another a bonus...

Audi seem so popular it has become vital to order early to get the spec you want. There are usually a few pre ordered by dealer cars around including several undesired orphans they sometimes sell off cheaper. I.e brown and red A1s someone ordered for a laugh.

It wasn't a cancelled slot though but a vacant one assigned to another dealership. Whatever the incentive I can't see another dealership in competition with another, giving a boost to their sales figures. Competition in performance between dealers is just too high, unless they are all buddies out there. Still whatever happened I've ended up gaining..

Ours is set for build week 50 which I think is 9th December then 4 weeks to delivery. 2.0TDI S-Line Sportback, Phantom Black Pearl Paint, Black Biathlon Cloth / Pearl Nappa Leather, S-Line Suspension, 18" x 7.5J '10 Spoke' design Titanium Matt Alloy wheels, Privacy Glass, Bang & Olufsen sound system... Can't wait. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of the new ones on order that are being delivered soon... :)

Hi everyone,

I've just (today)ordered a A3 S line 1.4 TFSI with lights and wipers, rear parking sensors in Daytona gray. I'm so excited! I hasn't been given an expected delivery date yet, anyone got an idea of the current list? I expect Feb (4 months) is this reasonable?!

just got expected delivery date, 15/5/14!! I'm so jealous of those of you who have theirs in matter so months!

I ordered June earlier this year and my car is currently being built.. Expect just before Christmas hopefully so I know how the wait feels!

Just spoken to my salesman at Aberdeen Audi, car is now on a boat headed for Tyne, he thinks there's a chance i could get it by the end of the month :)

Yes, the boat sailed last night. It is due at Port of Tyne at 10.00 pm tonight. It is called the City of Rome, you can track it on MarineTraffic.com.

Assuming our cars do sit not around long at Tyne, should be with the dealers early to middle of next week.

I really hope our car is on the same boat. They're all coming to Aberdeen, after all. My wife spoke to the salesman last night but he didn't know what was happening other than the car was at the port waiting for a ship.

Yes, your right I do not know if my car is definately on this boat either as I have not spoken to Aberdeen Audi but it arrived at Emden last Thursday just missing the boat that sailed earlier that week.

Yeah, I think our car just missed the ship last week as well. Our salesman is now off until Monday so can't check until then. We're handing in our current car on Monday so I hope to know for sure by then. Looks good, though.

It's Graeme i've been dealing with and he confirmed it. I would've thought they'd all be on the same boat. Check with the admin girls, cant remember the name i was given yesterday.

Just checked with salesman I am dealing with and my car is on the boat. Not sure if it will move far after arriving tonight at Tyne until Monday though, but should be in Aberdeen by middle of week and on the road for 1st December.

Handed over our old car tonight and have a 13 plate A1 on loan until the A3 can be delivered. Salesman showed me his PC screen - car still in port awaiting transport. He thinks it will be "about a week" until we can arrange pick up. As soon as it's on a transporter to Aberdeen the Admin folk will be in touch to arrange handover date and time.

That's a pity the cars are still stuck in port and not moving yet. I have said I would take mine on Friday if it was available but Sunday or Monday is more likely from your information.

My car is in Aberdeen :) hopefully i can get a suitable time for collection before we go to Glasgow for the weekend.

Just had another call from Audi, 09:30 on Saturday :)

That great news for you. I had not had a call so gave them a phone. My car has not arrived yet but they expect it in next couple of days and I can pick it up on Tuesday morning. :-(

Not 100% sure as was never told (i dont think) entered production on 30/10 and was told i should get it 2nd week of December if that helps.

No word from Aberdeen Audi re our car. I'll just have to wait, I suppose. I hope we can collect before next Tuesday as we can't extend our temporary parking permit exemption beyond then. All info re our car has come via this forum rather than Aberdeen Audi.

Not sure what was going on but after being told my car had not arrived yet and would not be ready to pick up till next Tuesday when I phoned at 12.45, they then phoned back half an hour later and said there had been a cancelation for handover and I can now get it on Friday morning. Looks like my car was already in Aberdeen but they had too many cars to get ready for the end of the week. I told them I knew it had arrived last Friday night at Tyne and could not understand how it would have not arrived in Aberdeen by today.

Phone call from Aberdeen Audi this morning. Collecting car on Tuesday. I could have hassled them for an earlier handover but this gives time to arrange insurance, road tax etc.
