Guys,

My S3 needs new rear rubber. Am not replacing with Bridgestone's as have been looking into Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym, the reports have been very positive as an all round tyre. Does anyone know where there any good deals currently? Am thinking of replacing all 4 if I can get a bargain.

On my old S3 I ran GSD and they were amazing, so am hoping they will be as effective on the 8P.

The F1s are very good tyres.

I'm using Michelin Supersports right now which are a step ahead again but more costly and less forgiving.

Have you tried blackcirlces.com using the cash back link from Quidco?

i reccomend conti contact 5's just the next move on from 3's which are probably the best all round rubber you can get

+ 1 for the f1's for me

cheapest I can find delivered are these:

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 225/40 R18 92Y XL : buy car tyres - Tyre Leader

happy hunting

That's an excellent price for the Assymetric 2's delivered! I've always used Camskill but that beats them by a good few quid.

F1 Assy 2's are an outstanding tyre. Oustanding grip in all conditions, amazing in the dry, unbelievable in the wet, low noise, if you get the XL's they have a nice stiff sidewall too, wear is amazing, I had them on my 300bhp Hawkeye Scooby, put 8k on them on the road and two track days at Knockhill and they still had 4mm all round when I sold the car last month. I'll be fitting 4 as soon as I wear these Conti Sport Contact 2's that are on just now.

I've tried a LOT of tyres over the last few years. The only tyres I would say were as good all round as the Assy 2's are Michelin PS2 (not 3!) but they're harder to find and more expensive.

Vredestein Sessanta Ultrac are a good tyre for the money too, excel in the wet, good in the dry but dont wear as well as either of the above and I found the grip really went off at under 3mm.

I was thinking Assy 2's myself. Found a source of PS2's (which is my preferred choice) but worried about manufacture date of them.
I'm guessing they will be a few years old by now and might be prone to premature cracking?
Assy 2's safe choice or risk some slightly older PS2's?? Hmmm.....

ah Rich, you're back! When are we catching up?
I've just put a pair of Michelin PS3s on the front; No complaints here!

Mine are non-standard for the car......245x40x18

They do a 225x40x18 which will fit.

Yeah the 225/40/18 are not in XL format though :( BMW fitment only for the UK from what Michelin say, unless I sweet talk a garage to import them from the EU! lol

How do you find running 245/40/18s? You been on them for long?

I've got it in my head I need these MPSS in my life over any other tyre....but I just cant find the correct fitment for my 18s anywhere :sob:
