S3 Colours - Pics of each option??

Panther black? It does have different coloured metal flakes it so it can be purple, brown or black depending on the light. Plus it's an s3 only colour in the a3 range.

The dark grey is for the s line only for some reason, so the only grey is monsoon and it's more of a dark silver.

Speaking of which, ice silver?

I'm sure monsoon would look great with privacy glass, black styling and the anthracite alloys. Those darker features would add some nice and much needed contrast.

Anyone considering Glacier white has to understand it is totally different to the old Ibis white and the rest of the plethora of white cars you see on the road, it's darker almost an icy colour to it (glacier is the perfect name) tinges of grey and blue in certain lights...

Much much more depth than the previous white Audi used to offer...

Darker Grey is Daytona but not on an S3.. Had it on an A7 and looked lovely. Dakota is browny yuk colour but not as bad as the real Brown available on S3.. YUK. Like Motorsport I reckon white is a bit chav these days, Monsoon dull, brilliant red OK and I prefer to the orangy Misano. So it has to be Phantom for us... but isn't it all a very personal thing and down to taste ,whether you have any or not ;-0

haha - if only BMW could combine the handling/fun factor of the mini into the z4 though. Z4 is a bit dull to drive IMHO but is nice on sunny days.

You either get the 2 wheel buzz or you don't :p. There is something about the danger of riding a motorcycle (even when being sensible on it) that is just SO appealing.

re: motorbike comment. I was just winding up my motorbike mates. I would never get a motorbike as id be in a box in <5 mins. ive been a pillion great fund and can see the appeal but id rather be in a tin can (car) rather than on it

yep colour is a personal thing like manual or auto - im going with misano red as that's the colour that drew me to the audi s3 (saloon tbh) and im not 70 yet so ill stick with a manual

I'm 23 and have opted for S Tronic! I don't think you have to be a bit older or boring to choose the Auto!

The car is quicker & sounds better with the auto! You have the luxury of changing gear manually if you want but you also have the choice to relax if you're feeling it.

I was in Cambridge yesterday which was just a big car park and by the time I got home the top of my right foot was aching quite a bit from me trying to juggle the clutch for an hour!

Granted it's not as 'engaging' when you're on a proper Sunday drive but it's going to be a rare occasion when I miss the manual.

Agree age has nothing to do with Auto/Manual debate. I have had several S-Tronic / Tiptronic Audis and for my 2p reckon they are great in motorway cruisers A6/7/8 . Also if you do a lot of town driving....BUT the S3 is essentially a hot hatch and I want to control what gear I am in myself rather than some 'thing' under the bonnet.

exactly my thoughts, its the fun factor id miss if I went stronic. the age thing was a joke btw

I am really in 2 minds as to whether I have opted for the right colour now, I chose Monsoon Grey. I like grey cars and like the one in the video that has done the rounds (the one in the Spanish review - 3 door) It has dawned on me though that the video in question is in sunny Spain not North West England!

I don't like Estoril, I wouldn't buy a red car, I think white has gone a bit too common and 'chav' on an Audi these days (personal opinion, initially I was getting glacier white) so I don't have a great deal of choice between Monsoon and one of the black colours. I vowed I'd never buy a black car again though!

I looked at an A3 at my local dealer that was grey but it was a dark grey, much darker than Monsoon and I liked that. Don't think it was Dakota grey as it had no brown tinge to it. I need help before its too late :)

I'm a bit surprised more people don't go for the exclusive colours really. I know they are £2000 but the potential to be unique and the wow factor created would be great.

For £1200 more than Panther or Estoril, and on a £35000 spend anyway, it's got to be worth a thought. Bit of a risk not being able to see the colours first i suppose, but it would be nice to see a Samoa Orange or whatever :)

I did and for that very reason. I'll be keeping the car for 7 years or so and none of the standard colours really did it for me. I am also into my detailing as i find it therapeutic so paintwork is important to me.

Do I keep asking myself about the cost? Yes, but then I look at it and just go aaaaaaah and those thoughts melt away every time.

Mine will pretty much look like this in Glacier with black styling, albeit I am having the alloys painted gloss black, as I did on my last S3 sportback. At least then it will look like a 300bhp 40 grand car instead of an S line with silver mirrors. TBH, this car would be on drive today had it not had all the chrome and some silly options that just ramp the price up.

Gnj, what spec is your monsoon? Tints? Rails (if SB)? Wheels in dark grey?

I have gone for a 3 door.

It is literally stock apart from the monsoon and B&O stereo. I looked at all the options and couldn't justify any of the others, regardless of cost. I want SatNav but I'll retro fit that. The standard car is more than spec'd up enough for me, I just had to have that stereo.

Looking at the orders on here ours must be the cheapest ordered?! I haven't seen anyone that has ordered a manual 3 door in a solid colour with no options as yet.

Are you having the calipers painted too? I think red calipers against the black will look really good, i'm thinking of having mine done if i can find anyone good who can do it!

From the first post, I dont think that solid colours are available on an S3 or some other higher spec models.

Try the configurator I think you'll find it wont let you order palin colours.
My sales executive (I nearly said salesman) tells me the same. Certainly I couldnt buy a solid colour sportsline.

That must only be an issue abroad then - my order is for a Brilliant Red car and others have ordered and taken delivery of non metallic S3s!

On the configurator, are you sure you don't just need to scroll upwards to see the flat colours?

The colours NOT available on an S3 are: scuba blue, dakota grey, shiraz red (all metallic) and daytona grey (pearl).

Also, daytona grey is ONLY available on S-lines.

Unless you go for a customised option of course.

I've just altered ours to Brilliant black and added the interior light pack. Not quite sure if I have gone temporarily insane but I just loved black 8P's and the pics of the 8V in black look great.

Anyone any pics of a 3 door in black?

Brilliant is nice but hard work to keep looking good. phantom is a far more practical option.. And yes I have had both!,

Painting the alloys black does nothing for me nor the random sample I have just asked. Just makes it look like a Vauxhall VXR was one comment.

Leave it alone would be my advice.

our A4 is brill black and it really shines when clean. Good choice for a solid colour. We are just not having it because we have it already.

i am a solid colour choice man, and will spend the cost saving on extras!

the only issue I can say is, like any black it shows every little mark! But I keep it clean, and it still looks mint 18 months old.

anyway, now you have saved the metallic cost, you have more extras than the light package!!?

Here it is in A4 format:

Black looks great and it was my second pick (I currently have phantom black) but with a baby on the way, and with limited free time as it is, I know I won't have the time to keep it looking at its best. Hence I'm going with the far more forgiving Monsoon Grey.

Plus I think all the chrome details on the new S3 blend very well with the grey so no risk of being too bling for my tastes.

Check your PM mate

Trust me, you won't be disappointed when you see it in the flesh! Out of all the colours it clearly shows the cars lines off the best, and probably the sportiest looking because of that...

Was looking at both Misano Red and Brilliant Red A3's last week and, apart from the more 'orange' tint to the Misano, I couldn't see the pearl effect on the Misano........what effect should I be looking for?
