2013 Audi S3

Regarding mpg, when I last test drove it, I zeroed the trip and treating it very badly, managed an overall of 22mpg over 90. Minutes spirited driving being deliberately brutal in sections. It was mostly B road bashing and a bit of gentle town work on the way back to the dealers.
im unsure how much brutality the engine and gearbox could handle, I doubt their in the same league as honda engine and gearboxes.....?

My old honda blackbird also made me respect acceleration in the same way too. Trying to counteract the gyroscope effect when overtaking on full throttle is hard physical work to pull it back in after!

we have a vfr1200 that gets used for sports touring... A big old bird but 175bhp is fun in the Alps !

Good enough reason not to buy a demonstrator!! ;-)

maybe, bit annoying I have to wait soooo long, but your wait is amazing, though I thought you would get it sooner than end jan if the build is 16/12

I'm guessing they are factoring in that there won't be much progress over Xmas and New year.

So I suspect it'll get built before Xmas, then shipped in the New Year.

Here's a question to the lucky ones who already have their new S3.... What sort of mpg are you actually getting compared to a quoted combined of 41mpg??

Went out for thrilling fun filled drive the other night and the evening averaged 16.5mpg. Been on a family run around some country lanes and in town driving today and seeing 25 ish mpg.
im hoping that back to work tomorrow I will see a reasonable average. Dealership said that first few thousand miles might be a bit juicy, this is probably just said so that they do not get too many complaints regarding stated 40.1 I think?

oh what fun, and so please I have an auto, the sound is fantastic!!!

That looks sick jonny

Glad I went with glacier, the contrast with the dark wheels and privacy glass works well with the white!

Cheers fellas!

Yeah the white probably shows up the cars lines the best out of all the colours, and if you are wanting the most aggressive / sporty look as possible on the S3 i'd recommend the Glacier White with pano roof and privacy glass...

I guess you could say the darker colours look classier..

I don't have pano roof but I'll be getting mine wrapped. Black pack finishes the look off perfectly!

Which is why T3 RYP needs to get some more pics up haha ;).

Agree completely. I've specced pano roof and privacy, negotiated a 7% discount too! colour decision is driving me ( and wife!) nuts!!

Only 7%... need to try a bit harder! Maybe a darker colour choice will get you a bigger discount ;-0

Id be interested to know how much roof space you lose on the pano roof for the A3. Being 6'2" you notice when the frame of the roof for the sunroof get in the way.

Something I havnt had on a car in a few years, and some cars are worse than others, the Mercedes A45 for instance you can actually tap the side of the roof frame as the top of your head fits in the gap where the sunroof window is. Put me right off the car, and the salesperson wasnt very good either.

Both are nice colours, i have had a red S3 before, i do agree with what most people say about the Misano though - that it is almost a tomato colour, can be very orange looking in certain lights...

And yes, white cars are very common, but this Glacier shade is different, it's almost a silvery white, and the metallic just gives it that extra lift...it's not in your face like the old Ibis white was...

Show my above pic to your wife!

I am 6'3 and we have had Pan roofs in 05/08 and 11 8P Sportbacks.. no probs at all. I am advised the 8V has a fraction more room too so should be fine!

Not sure Glacier is that great, different yes but it probably will look very dated quickly as white is falling out of favour as a colour.

well, I tried numerous dealers in the north west, some just refused any discount whatsoever, got a great recommendation on here and have gone through kings Lynn Audi in Norfolk, it's a bit of a drive but 7% gets me more goodies so well worth it. Daniel there has been v professional and more importantly, quick to respond and giving decent discount.

Depends on whether you choose a colour to try please other people and keep in with "what's in" fashion wise, rather than simply what just looks ****** good to you...

I think when choosing something as important as colour - forget what you think other people will think, and even if Beluga Brown looks good to you - just effin buy it

Agree on the one hand but fashions are strange... Bell bottom trousers, cardigans, broques, kipper ties... folks buy all sorts over the years and I do believe White has become a 'trend' colour that is running out of shelf life... just my 2p If you really like it buy it (but it will cost you dear in 2-3 years time when Silver/grey/black colours are still popular. Remember the Orange Bond Bug!

Yeh, sure you are right, there is a hint of orange but Misano looks really sporty, as does glacier. I'm not bothered about white going out of fashion as some are saying, as long as you like it personally, that's all that matters. I need to see a glacier close up, what you say about the metallic finish sounds promising to me. My wife just doesn't like the choice of car full stop, not too sure why but I'm not changing my mind!

I thought folks on here were getting 9% at Kings Lynn? :)

Maybe.

But, nobody has any proof that white is going to run out of shelf life, sales may plateau but it also may stay a staple popular colour (like silver/grey/black) for many years...

It's just that a few years back white started to look really good on modern cars, 10 years ago you would have looked like a convicted cross dressing sex pest driving one, but contemporary shapes started to lend themselves to the colour...

Black Range Rovers were HUGE 5 years ago, but have plateau'd yet still remained a good / popular colour...

I predict the same for white going forward...

Yes, apparently they have but 7% was the best I could get for whatever reason. annoying but if you consider that Blackburn and many more we're offering zilch, a £2250 discount was good.

White became popular in the 80's mainly 'Jap Crap' as they used to call them... The re-invention of white as a trend is indeed dying out to be replaced by the modern day equivalent of the old BL colour 'Gusset' Brown...

Trendy colours no way for me... Blacks, greys and blues are fine as are some Reds but White and Brown YUK! But personal choice rules and taste good or bad .

I think white came back when they started properly colour coding all the plastics meaning they actually look smart now.

Where are all the greens I say!!

We'll see what becomes / remains popular...

Yet i find that someone who has had 6 Audi's in a row in the SAME colour of Phantom Black talking about "trends"' of colour in such an assured and forthright way slightly amusung...

just sayin'

Hi Bob, I am 6'3 and have ordered pano as head room is no problem (not the same on all cars as you say),
I have sat in and driven A3's with and without pano (open and closed) and don't notice any difference with the height with pano and feels more spacious when 'blind' is back / roof is open. I was sat in a demo with pano about 8 hours ago, and it reminded me why I had ordered it.
there is also surprisingly little wind noise when open as a little wind buffer pops up at front when open, very well thought out and designed as whole glass area pops up before sliding back so has no impact internally as far as I can tell and is very cool when open and closed.

During the last few years we have also had Moro Blue, Oyster Grey, Deep Sea Blue and Daytona Grey so we do try others, it's just Phantom is the best in my opinion. Glad you found it amusing!!

On Fragups roof comment, the 8P Pano is quiet when tipped up at back BUT in our experience not so good fully open at above about 30-40mph!

Yes, im certainly going to try that, or ask him to throw in something FOC! Would you happen to know how durable the alcantara is vs leather at all? Ive specced alcantara, did fancy the super sports seats but decided to put the money elsewhere on the spec.

Our S3 is going to Forge Motorsport as well now, so that should be Cobra Sport for exhaust, Forge (bits they want to develop to be confirmed) and then software which will probably be down at Shark. I'll start a progress thread soon..

Anyone know much about this potential chain tensioner issue that affected the mk6 golf gti 2.0tsi and may be problem with the new engine in the S3?

Does anyone have any decent pics of the parade red design package? Struggling to find pics online other than generic Audi ones which don't show up very well. Apparently the red part is velvet leather so it should clean nicely, but is it definitely leather?

the one i test drove had parade red.... its very red!! i didnt like it on the seats, too much for me although the other details like the stitching on the steering wheel and gear stick were nice. cant remember the material but i think its the brushed leather similar to other seats like my black nappa...

There are a few pics here on this demonstrator for sale in Worcester -

Is this the Parade Red?? if so I can't say i noticed it was any different to the black leather on the rest of the seat, and we had the car for the day. (I also didn't like it, too much red)

I drove a demo with it too and agree that it's not nice on the seats but the red stitching is lovely.

Im pretty sure that it isn't brushed red leather though, I think it's just the same non-leather silk material that the standard seats are made from.

Brochure says 'red velvet', not leather.
