Where has all the regulars gone?

not many people on here anymore , what happened?

some of us don't post all that much but take information from other people's builds/ projects/ posting without antagonising or annoying the O.P

seems a shame as this used to be a great section of the forum with some well knowledgable individuals, I hope the minority haven't ruined it for the majority as I for one am still learning about the 8l range and its capabilities.

Site became too political with 2 massive factions that just argued like ****, everyone fell out and ****ed off and them who didn't join sides just cant be ***** with it all, im of the later and rather go on vag talk or vagtuning on FB.

It's cold, no one fixes their cars in the cold, so nothing to post. Otherwise, everything seems normal to me.

I talked about this in a thread I started.... Which subsequently got closed.... Cars break more in the cold Jo...:)

Has been pretty quiet round here lately, I do a lot more browsing rather than commenting but has seemed to change on here since I joined a few years ago :(

Exactly this.

I nee to fix my van so I can take the S3 off the road and strip it out. I've not been able to do this yet due to a lack of evening daylight and a 21ft by 12ft lounge to decorate :(

I don't even like working in the garage at this time of year let alone on the drive brrrrrrrrr....

Also, a lot of builds are as good as finished. Stacey sort of finished then took his off the road, Prawns has the TFSI blower and he's now playing with aero. Tuffty's is always ongoing, Karl is just slow etc.

Don't read into it too much.

Just be glad of the activity. In the b5 forum we can go whole days sometimes without a single post. The 8l section is busy busy.

It's more like lapland, get in the shed in the morning and instead of looking for pink drips of g12 you look for icicles lol

I so need a double garage, I only ever fix my car outside the house, not even had a chance to have a peek at my Haldex issue! In fact, I drove my S3 home from ADI, then parked it up in the garage, and not used since.....

Going to be washing my cars this afternoon, come round with yours too? Line them up! Hot & cold water on outside tap, no meter!! :friends:

To answer the earlier question, I broke my S3 8L, bought an A4 B7, so moved to that forum section. Many of us have moved onto other models now, but still here!

My wife now has a Lupo, have been working on drive with that recently (alloys off for a refurb). Loads of people having been buying parts off me, met in person lots of S3 & TT owners over the last 3-4 months, most recommended to join ASN and see Bill for servicing and tuning! :icon_thumright: Some really sweet motors I've seen, so scene is looking great!

I've just got back from Phil's, leak hunting! My build hasn't been updated since I joined, all I've done since then is add coilovers. Next year will be the year I get to play :p

It maybe worth pointing out in this thread, how many of you read and enjoy good builds / projects threads, or just a single post, without clicking on the “Like” button?

It doesn’t matter if you don’t post, but by clicking the like button, you have shown your interest, and that may encourage the O.P or the member that made a post to keep posting.

If you don’t show your interest in a post, I guess that’s the time members will stop posting too.

I personally lost interest after i said i felt custom mapping was a better option than generic mapping and a moderator who works for a large mapping company saw fit to remove my post and then threaten me with losing my posting rights via PM for questioning him.

You are either a mod or an employee of a company looking to better that companies coffers, you can't be both. I also got zero feed back from the powers that be over it,sure why would i? I'm just a member i don't line pockets.

That's not how a forum for enthusiasts is run so i've not bother looking on here since.

I've just been hitting the odd like and not really adding much. My build is going even slower because I keep rinsing money on camera gear. It does seem quieter but it's no bad thing. Perhaps we need Jardo to come back and say a FWD A3 is better or something?

Lol I'm not sure we need him back as he's a post whore but did present comic value when rifled in his cage! :-D
you should try the S8 part of this site.... tumbleweed doesn't begin to cover it! :lazy:

lol I think I've only ever seen a handful of s8's so I can imagine! I've seen more r8's than s8's.

I think the random month of hostility has been and gone, everyone seems to be getting on just fine again, which is great news.

For me: it's cold and it's dark, and I've got no money, so nothing to add really.

I could add a few random pictures and videos, but it'd just be for the sake of it, and the last few things I added didn't really get any response, so until I've got something genuinely interesting to add I'm happy to let it lie.

Everyone is skint in the run up to christmas, and everyone is miserable as the days get shorter, colder, and darker.

Normal service will resume in spring

I considered a build thread... but most things have been covered by others. I went hybrid ages ago... so possibly not as cutting edge as others but im still gathering parts to catch up on the hardware front before seeing what an upto date map can do,

AFAIK, no mod works for a large tuning company. Unless you were posting in a sponsor section, those guys have moderation rights in their own section

In my eyes an opinion is just that...
Live and let live,
As said people will be back on it in the spring...
Or on boxing day trying to think of what to buy with the money

Aye, my build thread would have you all in tears of sorrow, so I rarely post, That coupled with me being lazy, and not many visiting the B5 section.

I may do one.............for my VW

If everyone is bored, how about solving my issue ??

You guys know the 1.8t inside out !!

Just a thought lol ;)

This forum is dead without me.

Everyone knows it. I don't even like saying it myself, because it makes me sound like a ****.

There are some right characters on this forum, and without an opposing side they seem to be slowly fading away. Apart from Mr Walstow the regular ASN set know the boundaries, know which buttons to press and know who to talk to. It's fun, and keeps the forum alive.

I bet you all that if I start posting again the forum will see more traffic and the 8L post count will double.

Imagine how ****e this site would be if Prawn and PT stopped posting. I can think of only 10 maybe 12 people who regularly post and contribute to is forum, and over half of them cba anymore and just get on with their own thing.

Just make sure you put it in the correct section!!

There are loads of other build threads out there in other model sections.
Granted most are not as fast or engine based build like you guys but are still good reading.
The only trouble is you got to trawl through many other posts and sections to find any build threads.

Be great if they was all in one location where you can see all build threads for ever model. :ninja:

Jardo's sense of self importance more than makes up for the lack of active members by the looks of it

I have plenty of interesting things going on, I just feel less inclined to share at the moment, I'll post up when i've finished something.

LOL don't need just Jardo to cause us to kick off or start any form of discussion. Can fish anyone or windmill in against anyone's thread/post.

Everyones just busy currently in our circle. I've got a new job starting in December so I don't really care about forum posting as I'll not be around to see it. Unless it kicks off and I'll make the effort lol.
