Snake Pliskin's Countdown

Talking of colours I personally think Estoril is one of the worst colours on an Audi, shows off less of the S5's beautiful lines than any other colour. Saw an Estoril S5 and a Monsoon A5 next to each other and the A5 looked far better, despite being the lesser specced model.
Like I said, hope you enjoy it, but it definitely was a massive let down for me, and just a very mundane machine far too quickly. Excitement fizzled out.
We all have different priorities and desires from our cars, manufacturers would stop trying if we didn't.

The S3 felt more direct, immediate and involving than the S5 in the two test drives I've had. That said I don't think the S5 is a hard car to trump for driving excitement/involvement.
Whether it will keep the initial excitment is yet to be seen, but I'll find out, and if it doesn't I'll move on to the next effort.

ok thanks I think we get the message ... You don't like S5's and detest estoril blue !

Appreciate the feedback :icon_thumright:

When you get to feel the same after a week of driving it, you can send it here for a while... I promise to look after it whilst you look for an alternative (there doesn't seem to be an angel emoticon ;))

Hi snake, car looks amazing, wow that is nice and colour is perfect with the black details, A5 sline / S5 / Rs5 3 doors are my favourite looking Audi's of the whole range (inc R8!). Enjoy, I am sure you will.
My second favourite is A3 Sline / S3 so am chuffed with my order, but if I ever have the spare money I would be sorely tempted by something like yours. :hubbahubba:

Thanks mate for the positive comments.

With one or two anti-estoril blue campaigners I was wondering if if my eyes were deceiving me and I should have maybe picked a more striking colour like grey :)

Ha ha just kidding - grey is not for me, not the lighter shades anyway although Daytona is cool but nah estoril is a stunning colour and really suits the Audi range of cars.

Congrats on your 3 order, the 3 is a great car and I'm sure you'll love it !

ha ha ok thanks mate I will bear your kind offer in mind if that unlikely situation transpires lol :)

Seeing as the S5 is a 'dream car' for me and one I feel so lucky to have aspired to and in today's uncertain economic climate may never better, so I intend to fully appreciate it every day i am lucky enough to get to drive it.

It was uncalled for but hey ho, you get people in life like that! I find it best to just have a laugh at them.

Yeah he clearly has anti-estoril and S5 OCD lol :)

... I guess losing so much money chopping in his S5 so soon is gonna make you a bit thorny but why go to great lengths to attack a new car thread and a colour which many new S3 owners have chosen is not really necessary either.

By all means make your points .. But there IS a time and a place !

Anyway ....

water off a ducks back as I adore this new car and the positive comments are almost daily .... and Everyone Loves the colour and makes particular comment on this :)

Its being detailed today so is gonna look crazeeee good can't wait :icon_thumright:

It's a forum, an A3 forum at that.
If you don't want an opinion you might not like or appreciate I'd suggest keeping clear of the internet - it's full of opinions and not suitable for the over-sensitive!!!!!

Anyway, it's not a bad car, it's just a dull one to drive. I think they got every other aspect of the car right, and had I been after something to pound through motorway miles then it would have been perfect. I don't do much of that kind of driving though.
You live and learn.

Just picked the car up from the Detailers.

First thing the Detailer said was how fantastic the colour is and the comments from people who popped in through the day.

The estoril looked good before .... now it's frickin sensational !!!!!

Absolutly stunning ... pics will follow estoril fans :)

The drive home was spoiled by rain but luckily the S5's 'dull' drive managed to bring a smile to my face on several occasions :)

It's not because you have an opinion you have to express it, especially if it means potentially hurting someone's feelings. There was absolutely no point expressing your point of view other than trying to undermine snake's purchase. I think it's extremely immature personally but you're most probably getting a kick from being a pain, to each his own really.

Craig .... please put it down now - enough is enough !

This is my countdown thread, put in the A3/S3 section by Sandra, for reasons those that know appreciate !

I really don't understand why you felt you had to state your comments in 'this' thread and certainly not in the expressive way you did ?

You have issues with the S5 and estoril blue ok fine but no need to labour the point on this thread in addition to many others you have mentioned it in ... I would not dream of charging into someone's new car thread just as they get their car and slate it to the endth degree like you did ... I wouldn't feel it appropriate Or in the good spirit of the forum we all contribute to.

There are many many happy owners of 5's and they can't all be wrong. Yeah you fell out of love with your S very quickly but it sounds like you expected it to be a point to point sports car when in fact it's a GT cruiser, and a rapid luxury one at that. If handling is your #1 factor then I totally expect the S3 to deliver as it is closer to the TTS I just traded in after 3 years ... at which point the 5 fitted my requirements perfectly so I am very confident i won't be fed up of it after several months !

Ok so I hope we are clear, we both want different things and have different views on cars and forum posting.

Lets move on and both enjoy our Audi S cars :)
