Hid standard lights are not handed oem. So these headlight units shouldn't be handed either ie LHD or RHD.
HID doesn't spread the light like a halogen bulb. Hence xenon oem lights when going abroad don't need light deflectors.

Its a fact that the Hella Bi Xenon LED DRL Headlights come in two versions. LH traffic and RH traffic with different part numbers. Both have very different angles to the light beams as seen in pictures below. Its thoroughly documented on the inet with (google) or even in a few threads in this forum (search function). Might be a different story with aftermarket day line headlights etc. No idea. Again, talking about HEADLIGHTS here not the HID Bulb/Ballast.

Left hand traffic (UK) You can see that the beam is not gonna blind oncoming traffic but illuminating the side of the street.

Case Ring HL Test POI

Right hand traffic. If you would use these in UK, you are blinding oncoming traffic. Xenon and Halogen, doesn't matter.

The reason you blind people when abroad is that halogen head lights kick up at the end of the light beam. With xenon lights they don't kick up so you don't blind on coming traffic when abroad.

It it maybe different with after market headlights though.

Well all I know is about the Hella lights sold through Welldonehid. Also, a mate didn't get his roadworthy cert (here in AU) because his Xenon headlights (not Bi DRL) were imported from Germany and not meant for Australia/UK.

Don't get me wrong, I would be stoked if these lights work for Australia cause I've been eyeing them on the welldonehid site for a while now.

The OEM HID headlights fitted to my M5 have a light cut off for RHD, when driving abroad there is a movable shutter that changes beam pattern so the cutoff is on the other side of the car. The parts list shows lights for LHD and these are distinct from the RHD versions which have a mirrored beam pattern. Viewed from inside the car The beam pattern kicks up on the left - near side and is horizontal on the right - offside, on LHD cars the opposite is true. The same is true on the wife's MX5, both have projector headlights and OE HID Xenons.

email reply from the company is,

They are waiting for response from their supplier about getting the correct driving side headlights for this country.
So by the sounds of it, they dont plan on sorting any orders out until this part is sorted!
They said when they get the information they will be posting it on here.

So keep a look out i guess. :(

I think they might build to order. And they have seen the large list currently so they should be preparing already tbh.

Put me down for an OEM 6k kit for my 2005 A3 8P please.

Any idea when the group buy will go live?

Sorry, but you are mistaken. All headlights are handed, as above some headlights have a temporary lever that can alter the output (effectively like the stickers in old days) but they don't convert to a true LHD unit, merely block the uptick/direct it away). All cars will have a different part number for a LHD headlight.

The reason you can't fit deflectors/beam benders to a xenon headlight is because it's a projector set within the headlamp housing - sticking something on the otuer headlamp cover won't work with them.

Its been 3 weeks at least!

Not even 1 week since I posted the price for the headlights on the forum.

Please, stop sending emails to welldone asking to buy now, without waiting for the GB but using the BG discount.
It doesn't make sense to send this kind of emails pushing for the GB the finish when we didn't even had all the prices & discounts.

Any questions and information about the GB should be posted in this thread so we all can have the same information & the same conditions.

Usually they have A38P HID kits in stock, but they wanted to know what people is demanding so they can produce new bulb types & colors. (like the H7 8000, D2S 4300 some users are asking for).

They told me in around 1 week they will have stock for all the A38P / OEM HID kits & bulbs types. Then they will provide the Coupon Code (-20%) & we can start to make the orders.

do you guys go ds3 bulbs for standard 8p xenons headlights ?

It depends on the headlights.

As far as I know:

- Xenon = D2S
- Bixenon = D1S
- Bixenon + LEDs = D3S

What do you have in mind to do with the bulbs?

Welldone told me they need some information to get the LHD headlights.

- Headlights Serial Number for the LHD Bixenon (2003-2009) & LHD Bixenon with DRL (2009-2013)
or
- Chasis number from a LHD car with the Bixenon & Bixenon with DRL installed from factory.

If someone can provide this information it will be very welcome.

Maybe try opening a new thread asking for this information, as not all forum users will look into this groupbuy thread. Sure there is someone who knows :)

*Bump* Still waiting on their replies?
Did we confirm that the lights they supply are RHD or LHD?

Sorry yeah mine are d2s well I just wanted an idea how much a pair 4.3k once would be and what brand they are ect

I am mendiboxer I want one HID for my Peugeot 407 .The 407 has the same problem with the wiper motor as the A3. The kit is A38P and the lamp

H1 6000k

Blazedani, are you infact the owner & affiliated very closely with this company?

Just want to insert this, HID's don't work to well unless you have projector bulbs, all 8P's are reflectors except xenon and bixenon and if you have those there is no need for HID's. Now afaik you cannot buy aftermarket projectors for the A3 in the original style, they are all LHD beam patterns and have either a silly chrome or black finish or "R8 style" LED DRL's.

Note to trade: an excellent idea would be to emulate the xenon 8P2 headlights for normal halogen use but within a projector vs a reflector, I feel many people would buy them for £200 ish considering an HID kit is £100...£300 vs a £1k Xenon conversion!

Of course theres need for HIDs, they are "apparently" 300% brighter than normal halogen lights.

Look at a 30watt bulb then look at a 100 watt bulb and tell me which one is brighter.

The only thing that'll happen is lots of people will be blinded and the beam pattern won't be accurate.

The only way around this is to buy the full oem kit with all the levellers and washers.

doesn't matter if the bulb is through a projector or reflector housing, its still going to be brighter.

Yes I think many are missing something about this guy, I don't believe for one second he is a go between & infact has a very strong tie to the company, as in actually runs it.

He is plastered over the web for a number of years advertising this company on other forums.

His youtube channel is actually the company.

I know of at least 1 other forum recently he has been told to stop advertising the company, until he pays sponsorship & another forum where his 1 single post was a long one advertising page of items they offer, no other posts were made by him, which says allot.

They are not sponsors & neither is he, yet is allowed to open a socalled GB which has curtailed into offering loads of items, not one or 2 GB items as per norm.

It is basically getting round the sponsoring system of the forum, which afaik is not allowed & the mere fact a mod has apparently authorised it without researching the guy is very worrying indeed.

We already have a official sponsor on here T8ups aka EM Tuning that sells lighting systems, which shows a very much lack of respect for a sponsor who has paid to be able to offer systems like this, he has the total right to offer these things, whereas this user has no right at all, they are circumventing the routes to be a seller of items as a trader.

The forum relies on sponsors and the money they pay & this company/individual needs to either pay up or stop playing the system & the people who have unfortunately trusted him.

How would he know people from this forum are emailing asking to start purchasing? either unprofessional company giving out details to random strangers organising group buys. or like you said, part of the company.

And considering he's trying to sell items to nearly 30 people worth thousands of pounds, he isnt on this thread very much answering everyones questions like i would be in his shoes.

Maybe this thread needs deleting, and didnt realise t8ups did HID kits? maybe he needs to post up something here so others know he has these.

Count me out aswell - extremely unorganised for a GB with slow or very little help/information on any of the products.

The reason many users want to make a Group Buy for this product is because it solves the problem in their A3, not because of who is making the Group Buy.

Last Group Buy was started on Vortex forum by other users. (ChunkyCkn, not me)

Some users from Vortex & also from Audi-Sport wanted to make a new GB and asked me if I could organize it.

They know me well since I'm an Audi owner, user in Audi forums & I used to work with this product when I lived in The States.

I spoke to Quattrojames & he confirmed that it was ok to open the Group Buy.

If you like it better some of the 30 users can keep adding the name to the list which is basically what I do.

There is no sponsor who sells HID kits for Audi A3 without blowing the wiper motor.

There is no sponsor who fix broken wiper motors after using standard HID kits.

That is the reason for the GB.
No one else can supply this & that's why there are almost 30 people who want to buy a kit on the GB.

Are you an Sponsor NHN ?

You can try and let us know...
Everybody says their HID is safe, until it blows away the wiper 1 day after or 1 year after.

Who guarantees that your wiper motor is safe? Ebay??

There is a reason HID kits for Audi A3 can't be cheap. They can not use regular HID kits.
Most of this sellers add cables, resistors or cancellers & they sell it as a solution when is not.

As long as there is high voltage cables is not a safe HID kit. That's why people from Audi forums buy the A38P HID.
You can check their feedback on many forums like AudiSport-Iberica, Vortex, etc...

It has been confirmed by many people on those forums that this A38P HID is safe.
From all those people who own this kit, not a single person had the wiper motor issue.

So when is this GB going to go ahead then, theres plenty of people waiting and your not releasing anything as of yet.

You can also say the same for the kit you are selling about 1 day to 1 year. Sending things back to spain is going to be a pain if something goes wrong...

hids 4 u sell the hids that dont **** the wiper motor

also blaze... are your products E marked for legal road use?

Am i right in thinking all bulbs shoud be E marked?

Do they have high voltage cables?
If so, they are not 100% safe.
And as far as I know they do have high voltage cables.

How many GB they made so far?
And how many clients from that Group Buys confirm they work?

Everybody claims... but few have been confirm by users & not the sellers.

GB for this A38P HID have been made in 3 different Audi-VW Forums.
In 3 different countries since 2009-2013.
And all those who participated on the GB confirmed that no one had the wiper motor issue.

The problem / interference is caused by the 25.000V.
All those HID kits with high voltage cables are not 100% safe.
It may take longer to blow away the wiper.
It may blow away in a lower % of A3 cars.
But sooner or later they will.

It has been discussed already for so many years & in so many forums & It has been confirmed that the A38P HID kit is the right approach to solve the problem.
Not saying that myself but all the users from Vortex forums.

Audi , VW and many more brands has stopped using HID with High Voltage cables long time ago.
There is a reason for that, standard HID kits use an older technology that needs for high voltage cables to start up the bulbs.
This produces many interference problems & that's why they stopped using them / that is why the A3 blow away the wiper motor.

No body is forcing anyone to buy one or another HID kit.
If you believe this is not the right HID kit for your A3 & you want to buy the HID kit from ebay, hids4u or anyother supplier you are free to do it.
Is your car & your money, can not make the decision for you.

Many other people think different & that's why the organize GB in different Audi forums in different countries.
To much of a coincidence in my opinion.

Here the feedback from some guys in the US & Canada that have a different opinion.
